This document discusses the Weyburn-Midale CO2 Monitoring & Storage Project (WMP) from 2000-2012 which involved injecting over 25Mt of anthropogenic CO2 from a coal gasification plant into oil fields in Weyburn and Midale, Canada for enhanced oil recovery. The WMP studied technical aspects of CO2 geological storage and developed best practices. Monitoring techniques included 4D seismic imaging, passive seismic monitoring, soil gas composition analysis, carbon 14 isotope data, and assessing wellbore integrity to validate storage and address false claims of leakage.
