This document outlines a plan to enhance, extend, and embed the advanced practitioner (AP) role across different types of organizations in the UK. It involves three key phases: 1) Evaluating the AP role across provider types; 2) Creating conditions for AP teams to support quality improvements; and 3) Enhancing, extending, and embedding the AP role in organizations long-term. Specific activities include recruiting and supporting more BAME and disabled individuals as APs, providing continuing professional development opportunities for aspiring and experienced APs, and supporting managers to create an environment where APs can lead quality initiatives. Evaluation of the program will involve APs recording reflections and producing evidence-informed reflective accounts of how research has informed their practice.
