Include a conflict or inciting incident that sets up the action of the story.
Despite the large scar on her left cheek, Sofia had always been a confident and
determined young woman. She got the scar while playing outside with her siblings as a
child. A stray dog had approached them, barking furiously, and in the ensuing chaos, the dog
had bitten Sofia on the face.
The wound had healed over time, but the scar remained a constant reminder of that
traumatic experience. Sofia's scar had always made her feel different from others, but she
had grown to accept it over time. She aspired to be a successful lawyer and worked hard to
achieve that goal. After a few years, she is in law school, fulfilling her lifelong goals and
dreams. Fast forward a few years later Sofia landed
a job at a prestigious law firm in the city, determined to prove herself in a competitive and
challenging environment. She knew it would not be easy, but she was prepared to face
whatever came her way.
It's been a few months at this new job but, despite having to know everyone pretty
well by this point, Sofia still would get weird glances and stares at her, hear people
gossiping and making jokes in the lunch room. They often stare at her scar, which makes her
feel uncomfortable. Sofia tries to ignore their stares, but she help but feeling like an
outsider. Will they ever stop staring? Will they ever come to the realization I am human too,
just flawed in a different way.
It was a Monday afternoon, her boss stopped in the office to pull her aside and let
Sofia know she was assigned a high profile case, it was her job to win this battle and show
her hard work and dedication to the company. She works tirelessly on the case and presents
her arguments in court. However, during her closing statement, the opposing counsel makes
a side remark about Sofia's scar, causing her to freeze. Sofia is humiliated and cannot
continue her closing argument. She leaves the courtroom feeling defeated and ashamed.
Sofia asks the jury to resume this case and postpone a week ahead to gather her evidence
and support more thoroughly. The judge agrees to this, dismissing the case for the day and
presuming the following week.
Later that day, Sofia begins questioning her abilities and whether her scar will
always hold her back. She talks to her mentor, who tells her that her scar does not make her
2. different, it makes her unique, and she can use it to inspire others. Sofia clears her mind and
thoughts, and takes this motivation to gather the strongest argument she can in court. It is
the following week, and Sofia is standing in front of an entire jury and judge she uses her
resilience and strength to finish her closing statement. The jury decides the winning case
sits in the hands of Sofia's defendant. From that day on, Sofia proudly wears her scar as a
badge of honor and continues to excel in her career.
