We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

4. Q1:
The game has its origins in the 1960s and the work of Stanley Milgram, who showed
that the world is a tightly knit community, because each person knows people, who
know people, who know people, until the whole world is connected. He claimed that
any two people in the world could be connected by six steps on average, giving rise to
the expression ‘six degrees of separation’. Which then led to a spin off game “Six
degrees of Y”
Following a spate of mathematical films such as “Good Will Hunting”, an elite group of
people have emerged, namely those who have appeared in films and written
mathematical papers, and therefore qualify for X-Y numbers.
For a long time, the physicist Brian Greene had a clear lead with score of 5. He
appeared in “Frequency” with John Di Benedetto, who was in “Sleepers” with X. And he
wrote a paper with Shing-Tung Yau, who wrote a paper with Ronald Graham, who
wrote a paper with Y. X and Y by default have a score of 0.
What exactly is the methodology behind the calculation of X-Y numbers? Also, name
X&Y.

6. A: X:Erdos
Y:Bacon
A person's Erdős–Bacon number is the sum of one's Erdős number—which
measures the "collaborative distance" in authoring academic papers between that
person and Hungarian mathematician Paul Erdős—and one's Bacon number—
which represents the number of links, through roles in films, by which the
individual is separated from American actor Kevin Bacon.
The lower the number, the closer a person is to Erdős and Bacon, which reflects a
small world phenomenon in academia and entertainment
7. Q2:
Founded by Tadao Yoshida in Tokyo in 1934, Y , translated from Japanese
roughly as Yoshida Company Limited. The young Yoshida was a tinkerer
who designed his own customized X machines when he wasn’t satisfied
with existing production methods. One by one, Yoshida brought basically
every stage of the X making process in house.
Y holds almost a near monopoly in the X market, due to the fact it’s
incredibly dependable, ships without fail, and offers a wide range of
styles. The feeling in the apparel industry is that you can’t go wrong with
Y. Its target demographic is trim buyers and production managers in the
apparel industry.
Name this extremely ubiquitous item X and its largest manufacturer Y.
10. Q3:
Variations and modifications of this game include:
UNO Stacko
Truth or Dare
Throw’N Go
Explosion
Extreme X
Ultimate X
Bar X
Color Coded X
Chess Clock X
And other endless varieties.
X, the name of the game, is derived from the Swahili word for “build”

13. Q4:
X is a name assigned to the average color of the universe, given by a team of astronomers
from Johns Hopkins University. In 2001, Karl Glazebrook and Ivan Baldry determined that
the color of the universe was a greenish white, but they soon corrected their analysis in a
2002 paper, in which they reported that their survey of the color of all light in the universe
added up to a slightly beigeish white.
The finding of the "color of the universe" was not the focus of the study, which was
examining spectral analysis of different galaxies to study star formation. What the study
revealed is that the overwhelming majority of stars formed about 5 billion years ago.
Because these stars would have been "brighter" in the past, the color of the universe
changes over time shifting from blue to red as more blue stars change to yellow and
eventually red giants.
Drum came up with the name while sitting at a Starbucks coffeehouse drinking a latte and
reading the Post.
19. Q6:
X was discovered in 2009 by chemist Mas Subramanian and his team at Oregon State
University while they were conducting experiments connected to electronics. For one
series of tests, the scientists mixed black manganese oxide with a variety of
chemicals(including Yttrium and Indium) heated them to 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. X is
the first new blue in 200 years
X, Subramanian added, is “more durable, safe and fairly easy to produce… it also appears
to be a new candidate for energy efficiency,” as it reflects around 40% of infrared light. A
roof painted in X could potentially help keep the building cooler.
X has been recently commercialized as a paint, owing to the low toxicity and high
durability of the pigment.

22. Q7:
X&Y are fictional characters who are affected with chronic spoonerisms, are extremely
clumsy and very clueless, despite which they get assigned delicate missions.
X, with the flared, pointy mustache, describes himself as “Y without the P as in Venezuela”,
and Y, with his flat droopy mustache, describes himself as “X with a P, as in psychology” as
an attempt to help people tell them apart.
Who are X and Y?
25. Q8:
The following video shows a snippet from a web series parodying a cartoon character from a popular cartoon series
(which was later adapted in various TV shows, animated shows and films)
This web series was later removed from YouTube due to allegations of copyright infringement.
ID the character and the series. Bonus points for naming the web series. (with +5 extra if attempted on pounce)

The web series is Adult Wednesday Addams
28. Q9:
The New York City blackout of 1977 was an electricity blackout that affected most of New
York City on July 13–14, 1977.
Looting and vandalism were widespread, hitting 31 neighborhoods, including most poor
neighborhoods in the city. In all, 1,616 stores were damaged in looting and rioting
During the blackout, numerous looters stole DJ equipment from electronics stores. As one
DJ said, "After the blackout, all this new wealth … was found by people and they just—
opportunity sprang from that,"
What cultural phenomenon, now known all across the world, did this event help propel
forward?
31. Q10:
The picture on the next slide is from an 1863 book called “The Dixie Primer, For The Little
Folks,” which aimed at teaching children their ABCs and some basic words and phonics.
This included a 27th letter, #, which has been blanked out. While not necessarily the
standard usage, it was not terribly uncommon either to include # here — it had been
there for centuries.
It was odd to say “X Y Z #.” So, instead, our lexicon developed another saying: “X, Y, and Z,
and by itself, ‘#'” — but instead of saying “by itself,” the Latin phrase per se came into
favor. So the “ABC” ditty ran “XYZ and per se, #.”
The name by which we refer to # is a corruption of the phrase succeeding XYZ in this ditty,
and is in common use today.
What do we know # as?
35. Q11:
X explained that it was abandoning its own version of the Futura font because it wanted
one that would be effective in many different languages and on the Web, and that Verdana
was designed for just that purpose.
Verdana serves technology not by seeming technological but with its leanness, height and
loose spacing; it is bland, but efficient. The X spokeswoman called it “a simple, cost-
effective font.”- something true to its core design philosophy.
This decision generated outrage on twitter when the 2010 catalogue by the 60-year old
purveyor of inexpensive but stylish home furnishings arriving in mailboxes were subject to
scrutiny. On Aug. 26, Romanian design consultant Marius Ursache started an online
petition to get X to change its mind. That night, Verdana was already a trending topic on
Twitter, drawing more tweets than even Ted Kennedy

38. Q12:
Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident in 2011 at the Fukushima Daiichi plant in northern
Japan, was the second worst nuclear accident in the history of nuclear power generation.
Ocean water near the plant was discovered to have been contaminated with high levels of
iodine-131, which resulted from leakage of radioactive water through cracks in trenches
and tunnels between the plant and the ocean.
As an attempt to contain the damage caused in the aftermath of this disaster, the Japanese
had distributed 230,000 units of potassium iodide tablets, comprising a stable form of
iodine, to evacuation centers in the area around the Fukushima Daiichi and Fukushima
Daini nuclear power complexes.
After the event, the demand for Potassium Iodide tablets skyrocketed even 8,000
kilometers away on North America's west coast. Many drugmakers were announcing
shortages and running out of these tablets.

40. A: Potassium iodide, has been shown to protect the thyroid gland from the
radioactive form of iodine released by nuclear accidents or emergencies that
could lead to thyroid cancer, as the thyroid absorbs the stable isotope of
Iodine and thus rejects the Radioactive iodine present in the environment,
thus reducing the chance of thyroid cancer.
41. Q13:
The X or Classic of Changes, is an ancient divination text and the oldest of the Chinese
classics. Possessing a history of more than two and a half millennia of commentary and
interpretation, the X is an influential text read throughout the world, providing inspiration
to the worlds of religion, psychoanalysis, business, literature, and art.
The X uses a type of divination called cleromancy, which produces apparently random
numbers. Four numbers, 6 to 9, are turned into a hexagram, which can then be looked up
in the X book, arranged in an order known as the King Wen sequence.
Philip K Dick used the X to make decisions crucial to the plot of The Man in the High Castle
just as characters within the novel use the X to guide decisions
Philip Pullman's book The Amber Spyglass features the X amongst the divination methods
used by Dr. Mary Malone to communicate with Dust.

44. Q14:
X has been parodied and sampled in many places.
The music from X was used in the final fight scene in the Adam Sandler film You Don't Mess
with the Zohan
X is very popular in countries such as Mongolia and post-Soviet states such as Russia,
Azerbaijan, Ghana, Nigeria and Uzbekistan. There have been numerous covers for this
song, notably by Russian techno group Ruki Vverh , DJ Slon and Angel-A and a cover
version by Tibetan artist Kelsang Metok.
X was also sampled by British artist M.I.A. for her song “Jimmy” in her second studio
album, Kala (2007). The song was written by M.I.A. Dave "Switch" Taylor and Bappi Lahiri
and produced by Switch and M.I.A.
X was in turn influenced by the 1980 song "You're Ok" by Ottawan

47. Q15:
In 1916, the fabulously wealthy, Oxford-educated Prince Felix Yusupov was one of several
Russian aristocrats agonizing over the unseemly influence that Rasputin had over the Tsar
and, particularly, the Tsarina. In December, Yusupov invited Rasputin to his palace, where
he offered him cyanide-laced cakes and then shot him.
Sixteen years later, MGM produced Rasputin and the Empress, based on those events. The
film version also included a rape scene, which had no basis in real life.
Yusupov sued the studio, alleging it defamed his wife (since he was a murderer) and the
jury found in her favor, awarding her $125,000. MGM had to take the film out of circulation
for decades and purge the offending scene for all time.
What did this incident lead to, which is now a common phenomenon in the movie
industry?
48.
49. A: Prefacing of movies with the disclaimer that this is a work of fiction
50. Q16:
Why has this map/grid
been the reason for
consternation for people
in this country, and how
are people here exploiting
a loophole in this
method?
(Hints Available)
51.
52. A: South Korea forbids its map data to be taken outside its borders, hence Pokémon Go isn’t available in the
country. The rhombus-shaped cells show the areas that Niantic has labeled in its mapping system as restricted
areas, and the areas right at the top just make out.
So people have been flocking
here to play Pokemon Go
53. Q17:
In the classical Roman Empire, standard coinage was established to facilitate business
transactions. 12 denarii were rated equal to 1 gold solidus – a 4th-century Roman coin that
was rare but which still circulated; and, since 240 denarii were cut from one Roman libra of
silver 240 denarii, therefore, equaled one X (livre in France, peso in Spain, etc.)
The symbol for X derives from medieval Latin documents; the Roman words libra, solidus,
and denarius referred to X, Y and Z in the British pre-decimal currency system and the
black-letter was the abbreviation for libra, the basic Roman unit of weight. (The symbol is
a stylized way of writing the letter ) X was so named as it originally had the value of one
tower X (~350 grams) of fine (pure) silver
Name X, Y, Z
59. Q20:
The show’s creators directly cite King as the inspiration behind the show’s logo, having sent
copies of King’s novels to Imaginary Forces, the creative studio behind the title sequence.
Using a modified version of the distinctive typeface Benguiat, the X logo respectfully and
effectively plays on that recognition in the title sequence, setting the mood for what is to
follow. (Picture on next slide)
The show itself seems to be something straight out of a King novel , with a series of
extraordinary mysteries involving secret government experiments, unnerving supernatural
forces and a band of enterprising kids trying to get to the bottom of it all.
X has received positive reviews for its characterization, pacing, atmosphere, acting,
soundtrack, directing, writing, and homages to 1980s genre films
