When Twitter co-founder and former CEO Evan Williams thought of coming up with a
product to let users create content which wasn’t limited to merely 140 characters, he wanted
to keep it very different from the idea of blogs. He wanted some sort of a hybrid of Twitter
and blogs.
What he then created is a social journalism platform, having a hybrid collection of amateur
and professional people and publications. He created this in 2012, and despite a slow start,
as of May of this year, they have 60 million unique monthly readers, and growing. Their
international Alexa rank hivers around the 300-350 mark.

earned an Academy nomination for the same. However, a certain scene/part in the film was
directed by another director.
Interestingly, both directors also acted in the film. While QT played the role of the first Nazi
to be scalped by the Basterds, the second director had a much more significant role.

The grey francolin is a species of francolin found in the plains and drier parts of South Asia.
They are found in open cultivated lands as well as scrub forests. The grey francolin is
normally found foraging on bare or low grass covered ground in scrub and open country, and
is rarely found above an altitude of 500 m above sea level in India, and 1200 m in Pakistan.
The distribution is south of the foothills of the Himalayas westwards to the Indus valley and
eastwards to Bengal. It is also found in north-western Sri Lanka.
In the earlier days, it was known to be one of the tastier game birds, and was considered to
be a good catch along with quails, for luxurious dining.

A simple interview about the South Korean upheaval earlier this year became a matter of
international interest. While Professor Robert E Kelly was in an interview with BBC, offering
his thoughts about the impeachment of President Park Geun-hye, something happened
which gained a lot of social media coverage across the world.
What happened?
While this happened, a number of online activists also started raising voices of racism against
the Professor.
Why did this happen?

He was giving the interview over video conference from his office at home, when his two kids
barged into the room.
The wife then came running into the room, to pick the kids. However, the wife was Asian and
was mistaken to be his maid, that led to some racism allegations.

Marwar Mathania is a village in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan, India. The town is the site of
the oldest Karni Mata temple, constructed by Amara Charan in the fifteenth century. Native
to Mathania, are the Mathania chillies.
Known as the Lal Badshah of Rajasthan, this chilli is said to be the main reason behind the
stoic and spirited temperament of the Rajputs. It is the main component of food items such
as Laal Maans and Kairsangri.
Though the environment conditions are conducive for this chilli between March and July,
there was little or no manure or fertilizer available for better growth of these chillies. Hence,
what the locals decided, was to use something very readily available to them, given the large
number of secluded forts around the area. This technique is still very much in use, to grow
healthy Mathania chillies.

Massimo Bottura is an Italian chef who owns Osteria Francescana, a three Michelin star
restaurant in Modena, Italy. In 2016, OF secured the first place in S. Pellegrino’s World’s 50

The signature dish at OF, is actually a dessert and not a main course. The story goes that one
day Massimo and Takahiko Kondo, his sous-chef, were about to close service by serving the
last two dessert plates to a customer, when taka dropped one plate on the ground.

signed for the film on goodwill, thus establishing XY’s production house.
After a slew of flops in the 1970s and early 1980s, he gained a lot of success as producer in
films starring his son in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
He served as the president of the Film & Television Producers Guild of India from 1995 to

Hipponax, the sixth century BC comic poet, describes a certain lover of fine food having

The Kutchi Double Roti, commonly known as the X, originated in the Kutch region of Gujarat
in the 1960s.
It is said to be invented by Keshavji Gabha Chudasama in Mandvi, whose shop still serves the
item till date.
Taking its name from the word meaning ‘pressed’, and is said to be a variety of another snack
from the surrounding regions. It is said that X was inspired from the Y but slight changes of
adding some chaat-like items such as sev and pomegranate seeds were made. The spice

In 1987, sports car and radio enthusiast, Harry Turner, backed by Jim Tanner and Chris Crewe-
Smith, founders of TTC radio, started a new Radio channel with on particular purpose, to give
non-stop commentary on a specific event.

didn’t play anything else. However, owing to geographical and developmental reasons, many
such events are now organized around this area, so the radio channel now remains active at
all times.

Karsh Kale is an Indian-American musician, record producer, songwriter, film composer and
DJ. He is considered one of the pioneering figures in defining the Asian Underground genre
by mixing disparate genres of music such as Indian classical and folk with electronica, rock,
pop and ambient music. In addition to production, remixing, and DJ work, Kale is known for
his tabla drumming and film composition.
As a percussionist, he realised that all his instruments echoed a lot during live performances.
This led to him getting custom tablas and other instruments made, which had a very simple
hack to help cancel the echo.
The technique used in these custom made instruments was originally used by English and
Greek musicians, but was made famous by Karsh Kale in the last decade or so.

Born in a lineage of many statesmen, X is the great grand daughter of former prime minister
of Hyderabad, grand niece of a former governor of Assam, and grand daughter of J
Rameshwar Rao from her mother’s side.

The first part of the name (X) is an adjective describing the second part. The second part of
the name (Y) is an ancient Malabari word for the tail of a peacock. Rumour has it that the
British spotted a peacock for the first time in the Malabar region.

named after the 14th century French philosopher Jean _______, whose philosophy of moral
determinism it satirizes.
It refers to a hypothetical situation wherein a donkey that is equally hungry and thirsty is

Widely regarded as one of the better English openers of 1980s, this cricketer somehow never
played for the national side despite scoring almost 25,000 runs in First Class and List A
cricket. He was one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1988.
A right hand opening batsman and occasional off spinner, he played for Somerset reserves
ever since he turned 13, and went on to captain the main side from 1986-88.
He first faced controversy in 1986 when, at the end of his first season as captain of Somerset,
