X is executed upon freshly-laid, or wet lime plaster. Water is used as the
vehicle for the pigment to merge with the plaster, and with the setting of the
plaster, the painting becomes an integral part of the wall. The word is derived
from the Italian adjective meaning “fresh”. The X technique has been
employed since antiquity and is closely associated with Italian Renaissance
painting.
Y is painted or applied directly on a wall, ceiling or other large permanent
surface. A distinguishing characteristic of Y is that the architectural elements
of the given space are harmoniously incorporated into the picture. Ancient
versions of these have been found within ancient Minoan palaces and even in
Pompeii.
Give me these words which are often used interchangably incorrectly.
Q1
X-Fresco
Y-Mural
X’s incarnation of Y is based on a more alluring representation of the
legendary mortal, where it is suggestive of power, strength and beauty that
constitutes a propitious sense of the mythology. Y encompasses X’s taste for
tradition and classical nuance along with his desire to astonish audiences with
designs that are striking in their brilliance, originality and style.
In X’s version, Y’s beauty is apparent in the proportional features and fulsome
lips, but the eyes remain hollow, implying ambiguous intentions. The Y
became a perfect symbolic figure to represent the X’s brand, a perfect paradox
–- beautiful but frightening, shocking yet enchanting.
Where can we find this described modern take of Y?

Identify this poet known worldwide for totally different reasons and the theme of the poem.
I've already grown a goiter from this torture,
hunched up here like a cat in Lombardy
(or anywhere else where the stagnant water's poison).
My stomach's squashed under my chin, my beard's
pointing at heaven, my brain's crushed in a casket,
my breast twists like a harpy's. My brush,
above me all the time, dribbles paint
so my face makes a fine floor for droppings!
My haunches are grinding into my guts,
my poor ass strains to work as a counterweight,
every gesture I make is blind and aimless.
My skin hangs loose below me, my spine's
all knotted from folding over itself.
I'm bent taut as a Syrian bow.
Because I'm stuck like this, my thoughts
are crazy, perfidious tripe:
anyone shoots badly through a crooked blowpipe.

Michelangelo Buonarroti on the gruelling task of painitng the roof of the
Sistine Chapel
Simple drawings that can have concrete representational meaning or may just
be composed of random and abstract lines, generally without ever lifting the
drawing device off of the paper.
It is most often associated with youngsters, because their lack of hand–eye
coordination. Despite this, it is not uncommon to see such behaviour with
adults, in which case it generally is done jovially.
It is the origin of an early eighteenth century verb which means "to swindle or
to make a fool of"
What are we talking about, something which everyone has done countless times in their
lives?

Roy Lichenstein
In Greek mythology, he was the son of Aphrodite and Hermes. The boy was
so beautiful that a nymph named Salmacis fell in love with him. One day this
minor god came to the fountain where she lived. As he was bathing, Salmacis
embraced him and pulled him underneath the water, and prayed that they
would be united forever. The gods granted her the wish. What term did this
give rise to?
Q6
Hermaphrodite from Hermaphroditus
Costume designer Sharen Davis confirmed this inspiration, telling Vanity Fair,
“_______ had it in the script as powder blue. And I said, 'I just can’t do that.
It is very '70s, but that’s going to look like polyester no matter what I make it
out of.' I slipped a copy of Thomas Gainsborough’s The Blue Boy in the back
of the research book. He didn’t say anything, but he saw it. He sort of said
later, 'Oh! Make him look like Blue Boy.'“
The Blue Boy (1779) is a full-length portrait in oil by Thomas Gainsborough,
which is probably his most famous work.
Q7
H.R. Giger was a Swiss surrealist painter, whose style was adapted for many
forms of media, including record-albums, furniture and tattoo-art. The
Zurich-based artist was best known for airbrush images of humans and
machines linked together in a cold 'biomechanical' relationship. Later he
abandoned airbrush work for pastels, markers or ink. Giger is often referred
to in popular culture, especially in science fiction and cyberpunk. His style was
adapted for many forms of media, including record-albums, furniture and
tattoo-art.
He worked on the film (and its sequels) as a designer. However, Giger's own
work was in turn inspired by Francis Bacon's artwork, Study after Velázquez’s
Portrait Of Pope Innocent X, an artwork based on the Velázquez masterpiece. He
was part of the special effects team that won an Academy Award for design
work on the same film. Identify the design work.
Q8
The churning of the Ocean of Milk was an elaborate process. Mandar
Parvat which is situated in Bhagalpur city was used as the churning rod,
and Vasuki, the king of serpents, who abides on Shiva's neck, became the
churning rope. The demons demanded to hold the head of the snake, while
the gods, taking advice from Vishnu, agreed to hold its tail. As a result, the
demons were poisoned by fumes emitted by Vasuki. Despite this, the gods and
demons pulled back and forth on the snake's body alternately, causing the
mountain to rotate, which in turn churned the ocean. The Samudra Manthan
process released a number of things from the Ocean of Milk. Some of them
include Halahala, Lakshmi, apsaras, Kamdhenu, Chandra, Kalpavriksha plant.
Finally, Dhanvantari, the heavenly physician, emerged with a pot
containing Amrita. Fierce fighting ensued between Devas and Asuras for the
nectar. This tussle inadvertently led to the formation of something which
attracts people massively. What?
Q9
Kumbh Mela
The creator conveyed of its tragic mood. “"Returning there, I set to work. The
brush almost fell from my hands...I had no difficulty in expressing sadness and
extreme solitude". ” In contrast to the turbulence of the brushwork, the whole
space is of a primordial breadth and simplicity. The colors in their frequency have
been matched inversely to the largeness and stability of their areas. One of the
subjects used are a symbol of resurrection.
As a man in distress counts and enumerates to hold on things securely or to fight a
compulsion, the artist in his extremity of anguish creates an arithmetical order to
resist disintegration. He makes an intense effort to control, to organize. Elemental
contrasts become the essential appearances; and in this simple order, the separated
parts are united by echoes of color, without changing the larger forces of the
whole. Two green clouds are reflections. And in the blue of the sky is a vague
pulsation of dark and light that resumes the great unrest of the ground below.

One day on entering the place where it was set up X found a great number of
strangers who were praising it highly, and one of them asked one of the
others who had done it, and he answered, 'Our Gobbo from Milan’. This
prompted something which went down in history, never to be repeated again.
X received wide criticism on one of the subjects. “Do you not know that chaste

It is believed by some that the origin of the myth is the notion that X is
sensitive to a particular phenomenon, becoming more active during this time.
Thus the Japanese believe that the Namazu (god of world rectification) is
directly linked to this phenomenon. This is one of the reasons why X is
depicted on some particular government programmes. X is also highlighted in
pop culture thanks to a particular pokemon. An episode of the anime
featuring this pokemon was banned due to its unfortunate airing time.

considered the abode of Vishnu on earth and the primary temple of Vishnu
on earth. Once X was presented the sacrosanct Sri Ranga Vimana. He was
carrying it all the way to his kingdom and midway, to rest, he placed the image
on the banks of Kaveri. After performing his routine pooja, he tried to lift the
Vimana, but it could not be lifted. Mahavishnu appeared to him and said that

Vibhishana
Known as Kapishreshtha, Riksharaj, and Chomphuphan in Thai, he was the
King of Himalayas in his past life. He received a boon that he would have a
long life, and have the strength of ten million lions. He was present at the
time of Samudra-Manthan. The information he received from the gods much
later proved to be a life saver. He once told Y that he too could have achieved
the feat had he not gotten injured when he was beating the drum during
Vaman Avtar, which limited his mobility. Who is this ‘mahapurush’?
Q17 +40/-20
Jambavan
The etymological origin of X is unclear and there are several theories. One states
that it is derived from a flowering tree called Agati gandiflora, which is endemic to
the Indian subcontinent.
At one time the marriage of Shiva to Parvati was going to be celebrated. Desirous
of witnessing this grand spectacle, all the Gods, the great sages and many other
creatures traveled to Mt. Kailasa. As a result of this huge gathering, the balance of
the earth was upset. There was a real danger that it would topple. Also, the mighty
Vindhya mountain, the natural dividers between the north and the south, had
become jealous of the place occupied by the great Himalayas. The mountain
thought, 'If I became taller, people would respect me more.' and it started growing.
Its increasing height threatened to obstruct the orbit of the sun and the moon.
Q18 +30/-15
Shiva decided to solve both these problems in a single stroke. He summoned X
and bade him to go south, to restore the balance of the earth. Accordingly, the
Rishi then traveled south and reached the foothills of the Vindhyas, accompanied
by his wife Y. He said to the mountain, "I have to travel south for a while. If you
keep growing, it will be impossible for me to cross you on my return journey.
Please stop growing till I get back."
The mountain promised to do so. Alas, it had been tricked, for X established his
residence on the south, and never went back to the north. With his presence in the
south, the weight of his ascetic merit served to restore the balance of the world.
He lived in the south for a long time and spread the principles of religion in that
region. He is also considered by many to be the “father of Tamil language.”
Tell the name of this revered person, which means "one who is mover-of-
mountains", or "mover-of-the-unmoving".
Agastya
The Thai version was adapted from the origin of Ramakien. In Ramakien, he
is a weapon that could kill millions of King Toskaka's armies. He is not a
celibate, and meets the mermaid Suvannamaccha while on a mission. The
couple have a son, Macchanu.
Q19 +20/-10
He is the son of Renuka and one of the saptarishis, Jamadagni. He lived
during the last Treta and Dvapara Yugas and is one of
the Chiranjivi (immortals) of Hinduism. X, a Brahmin, received his famous
weapon after undertaking terrible penance to please Shiva, who in turn taught
him Kalaripayattu.
He is most known for ridding the world of kshatriyas twenty-one times over
after the mighty king Kartavirya Arjuna killed his father.
X and Indrajit are believed to be the only humans who ever possessed the
three ultimate weapons: the Brahmanda astra, Vaishnava
astra and Pashupatastra. According to some beliefs, he is a
mighty Maharathi and he will reappear as the martial instructor of Vishnu's
10th avatar Kalki, reprising his role.
