- 4. In our film we have created 2 teenage female stereotypes Firstly the ‘girl next door,’ a common stereotype found in teen dramas.
- 5. SO HOW DID WE CONSTRUCT HER REPRESENTATION?
- 6. She lives in a suburban house this is established through the setting. The wide shot of her room allows us to see how she has been constructed through the Mise en scene. Eg. The fluffy teddy bear, the tidy room, pillows with diamonds on.
- 7. The text on her phone shows her concern about what she wears in this way we have reinforced the stereotype of girls being overly concerned with appearance as well as establishing our character as being mainstream. She is also constructed as concerned with gossip and other negative stereotype we have constructed. Her pink top with shiny embroidery helps to reinforce the above.
- 8. Secondly the Boho ‘stoner’ stereotype
- 9. SO HOW DID WE CONSTRUCT HER REPRESENTATION?
- 10. We’ve constructed the character through the use of camera, editing, Mise en scene and sound.
- 11. The panning shot used in the short film constructs the character as Boho because it allows the viewer to see the contents and the setting. The stickers on her laptop, the Tye dye posters on her wall, the skateboard. The close up of the girl putting her scruffy shoes on and the lighter on the floor gives us more of a view of this boho lifestyle.
