This document describes a study that aimed to identify chicken species in processed food products using PCR-RFLP analysis of the mitochondrial cytochrome b gene. The study collected 7 food samples, extracted DNA from them, amplified the cyt b gene using PCR, and digested the amplified products with restriction enzymes. The digestion products were analyzed via agarose gel electrophoresis and Agilent bioanalyzer to determine if patterns matched chicken DNA. The results showed PCR-RFLP analysis of the cyt b gene can authenticate chicken species in processed foods. Improved DNA extraction and testing from the start was recommended to obtain more accurate results.
36 elisa kits for bladder cancer researchElabscience
Bladder cancer is any of several types of cancer arising from the epithelial lining (i.e., the urothelium) of the urinary bladder. This study examined how chronic physical restraint stress alters gene expression in mouse spleens. Mice were subjected to restraint stress for 12 hours per day for two days. Microarray analysis found that 48 out of 225 apoptosis- and p53 signaling-related genes showed significant expression changes in stressed mice compared to unstressed controls. Four genes (Fas, FADD, p53, p21) were validated with real-time PCR. The results provide evidence that apoptotic pathways contribute to stress-induced lymphopenia and identify potential stress response biomarkers.
This document discusses cancer at multiple levels. It begins by explaining that cancer starts when cells divide uncontrollably and spread into surrounding tissues. There are over 100 types of cancer named for the organs or tissues where they form. Later sections provide more details on genetic and molecular factors that drive cancer, including changes to proto-oncogenes, tumor suppressor genes, and DNA repair genes. The document also describes tumor markers and their role in cancer detection, diagnosis and prognosis. It concludes by listing ELISA kits from Elabscience focused on targets relevant to cancer research.

The document summarizes research on expressing HIV-1 antigens in plants as a potential vaccine. The researchers found that transient expression in plants is a viable alternative to transgenic plants. They determined that targeting the HIV-1 Gag protein Pr55Gag and its derivative p17/24 to chloroplasts yielded the highest levels of these proteins. Mice vaccinated with p17/24 produced from chloroplasts developed strong CD4+ and CD8+ T cell responses and HIV-specific antibodies, showing it is a promising vaccine candidate.

The document describes using peptidomics to monitor protease inhibition in vivo by analyzing peptides as surrogates for protease activity. Peptidomics allows the comprehensive analysis of endogenous peptides from biological samples. The study demonstrates inhibiting different proteases in rats, including DPPIV and FXA, and analyzing changes in peptide levels. Several novel protease substrates were identified, including an ITM2B peptide for DPPIV. Collagen peptide levels were also strongly affected by DPPIV inhibition, indicating its importance in collagen metabolism. Peptidomics can thus non-invasively monitor protease activity and inhibition in vivo by analyzing surrogate peptide markers.

Back then, the people who lived in the Indus Valley, now known as India and Pakistan, practised meditation as a fundamental part of daily life. This knowledge that has given us yoga and Ayurveda, was known as Veda, hence the name Vedic. And though there are some written records, the practice has been passed down verbally from generation to generation.

Muktapishti is a traditional Ayurvedic preparation made from Shoditha Mukta (Purified Pearl), is believed to help regulate thyroid function and reduce symptoms of hyperthyroidism due to its cooling and balancing properties. Clinical evidence on its efficacy remains limited, necessitating further research to validate its therapeutic benefits.
These lecture slides, by Dr Sidra Arshad, offer a quick overview of the physiological basis of a normal electrocardiogram.
Learning objectives:
1. Define an electrocardiogram (ECG) and electrocardiography
2. Describe how dipoles generated by the heart produce the waveforms of the ECG
3. Describe the components of a normal electrocardiogram of a typical bipolar lead (limb II)
4. Differentiate between intervals and segments
5. Enlist some common indications for obtaining an ECG
6. Describe the flow of current around the heart during the cardiac cycle
7. Discuss the placement and polarity of the leads of electrocardiograph
8. Describe the normal electrocardiograms recorded from the limb leads and explain the physiological basis of the different records that are obtained
9. Define mean electrical vector (axis) of the heart and give the normal range
10. Define the mean QRS vector
11. Describe the axes of leads (hexagonal reference system)
12. Comprehend the vectorial analysis of the normal ECG
13. Determine the mean electrical axis of the ventricular QRS and appreciate the mean axis deviation
14. Explain the concepts of current of injury, J point, and their significance
