Data report 2016-17 to be published
Initial findings
• coverage high
• not all trusts collate matched cohort coverage data
• higher rate of declines in some areas outside London
• majority of hepatitis B positive women seen within 6 weeks (ID2)
• screening coordinators need to have effective processes in place to see
women within 10 days, as some areas’ performance was low. The reasons
and management of this cohort of women needs investigating further
• delivery of hepatitis B vaccination and immunoglobulin variable

Screening outcomes- National Integrated Maternal and Paediatric Outcomes
Surveillance (NIMPOS) system in development with PHE, Institute of Child
Health and PHE National Infection teams. This will extend HIV study to include
hepatitis B and syphilis via one web based submission process.
Audit of perinatal HIV in children born in the UK 2006-2013 published Jan 2018

• rising incidence of syphilis infection
• acquisition of maternal infection after a negative antenatal screen is an area
of increasing concern – the ‘NEGATIVE NOW’ message when giving results
• vital role of all health professionals in raising sexual health awareness

Laboratory work streams
• laboratory task group to review lab handbook, results processes etc
• annual lab IDPS workshop 2018 (TBC) - to give updates on current priorities
and QA
• laboratory QA and UKAS working together to agree IDPS measures

KPI FA2- coverage of the fetal anomaly scan- completeness improving.

Challenges include
• lack of adequate reporting and IT systems to collect and report data
• unable to define exclusions and split exclusion categories
• unable to provide matched cohort data
Data is being analysed – actions plans recommended where not meeting
thresholds
