This document contains summaries of 3 images taken during training exercises to learn lighting and stage safety skills. The first summary describes learning how to safely climb a ladder by having 3 points of contact. The second summary explains practicing rigging lights on a tower safely by following safety procedures like wearing a helmet and having someone spot. The third summary is about learning how to operate a follow spot safely by wearing gloves to protect from heat and not pointing it at anyone.

1. Annotation of images
This image was taken on our school stage on the
26th
of September. In the picture I was climbing
the ladder safely for the first time so that when I
need to rig a light I know how to climb a ladder
safely. The purpose of doing this was so that I
know how to climb a ladder making sure I have 3
points of contact when on the ladder. The
equipment I was using was wearing a hard
helmet and the ladder. When on the ladder the
health and safety aspects in needed to consider
were; making sure I have 3 points of contact,
someone was spotting whilst I was climbing and
that the ladder was set up safely.
This image was taken on the 3rd
of October in
our school hall. In the picture I was up the
tower rigging the lights. I was practicing
rigging the lights without any light on so that
I know how to safely rig a light on the tower.
The purposeof doing this was so that I learnt
how to climb the ladder safely with another
person and then when on top of the tower
how to rig and de-rig a light. The equipment I
was using was the tower, hard helmet and
then the lights, which were already attached
to the ceiling. When on the tower the health
and safety aspects needed to consider are
that when climbing you have 3 points of
contact, make sure your wearing a hard
helmet, have someone spot you, make sure
the brakes are on the tower before climbing, when on top of the tower ensure
the safety hatch is closed properly.

2. This image was taken on
the 10th
of October in our
school hall on the stage. In
the picture I’m using the
follow spot. The purpose of
doing this was so that I
know how to use the
different controls on the
follow spot e.g. making the
spotlight smaller or bigger.
The equipment I used was a
hard helmet, gloves, and a
follow spot. When using the
follow spot the health and
safety aspects that need to be considered are; wearing gloves to protect them
from the heat that the follow spot produces, making sure no one is in front of
the follow spot when moving it around.
