This document discusses revising the US Model License. It provides: 1) A short history of the Liblicense project and past revisions to the Model License. 2) An overview of the goals for this revision, which include making the license less journal-centric and serving as an educational tool. 3) Details on the revision process, including gathering comments on a draft from over 20 organizations and individuals. 4) Highlights of new provisions in the revised Model License related to text and data mining, discovery services, open access, and authors' rights.
