13. • Souvirāñjana possesses grāhī, snigdha and sita (like that
of snow) guna. It is seful in raktapitta roga, netra roga
(eye diseases), vişa doșa and hikkä roga iccups).
• Its external application in suitable form does keep the
wounds clean and heal nem (vraņa śodhana’ and ‘vraņa
ropaņa”). It corrects the ‘menstrual disor- ders’ and
cures ‘raktaprada’ roga

Souvirāñjana comes with smoky (dhūmra) colour. It is
useful for internal ad- ministration in raktapitta roga, as it
possesses śita guņa. It is useful in visa and its complications
and hikka roga. When used externally it is a good ‘vraņa
lodhaka and ropaka”.

• Antimony can have beneficial effects when used
for medical reasons. It has been used as a medicine
to treat people infected with certain types of
parasites .

17. Strotoanjana
स्रोतोऽञ्जनं हिमं हिग्धं कषायं स्वादु लेखनम् ।
नेत्र्यं हिध्माहवषच्छहदिकफहपत्तास्ररोगनुत् ।। (R. R. S. 3/10)
• It is snigdha (greasy) in appearance, madhura and kaṣāya
in Rasa, lekhana in Karma, destroys viṣa-prabhāva, vami
(vomiting), pitta and rakta-rogas. It is good for eyes and
cures hidhmarūjā (distress due to hiccough) always.

नीलान्जनं गुरु हिग्धं नेत्र्यं दोषत्रयापिम् । रसायनं सुवणिघ्नं

• Galena is believed to be a stone of transformation,
spirituality, and past life recall. It is thought to counter
infection, protect against radiation, and aid in recovery
from addiction .

• Shodhan :
• हत्रफलावाररणी स्वेद्यं तद्वयं शुद्धिमृच्छहत ।
भृङ्गराजरसेवाऽहप स्रोतः सौवीरक
ं शुह ः ।। (Ay. Pra. 2/232)
To purify both strotoanjana & Souviranjana both drugs are tied in 2
separate cloths 'pottali’ and hung in dolayantra.
Each drug is subjected to swedana for 1 yama with triphala kwath or
bhringaraj swarasa.

28. Nilanjana Sodhana
• नीलाञ्जनं ूणिहयत्वा जम्बीररसभाहवतम् । हदनैकमातपे शुिं
भवेत्कायेषु योजयेत् ।। (Ay. Pra. 2/238)
• To purify ‘nīlāñjana’, the drug is taken in a clean khalva
yantra. It is added with required quantity of ‘nimbu swarasa’
and triturated for a day. Later the drug is dried under hot sun
and stored in suitable airtight container as ‘śuddha nīlāñjana’.
29. Rasanjana Sodhana
• सूयािवतािहदयोगेन शुद्धिमेहत रसाञ्जनम् । (R. R. S. 3/105)
To purify ‘rasañjana’, the drug is taken in a clean khalva yantra.
It is subjected for 3 bhāvanās with swarasa or kwatha of any
one of the ‘sūryāvartādi yoga dravya’ (sūryāvartaka, kadali,
vandhyā, kośātaki, suradālī, śigru, vajrakanda, nirakaņā and
kākamāci). Later the drug is dried under hot sun and stored in
suitable airtight container as ‘śuddha rasāñjana’.
30. Anjana Dosage
• गुञ्जाधितः समारभ्य गुजैकहमतमञ्जनम् । हदनद्वयं त्रयं वाहप प्रयुञ्जीत
हभषग्वरः ।। अञ्जनहद्वतयं रक्तप्रदरे तु हदनत्रयात् । अहधक
ं
नोपयुञ्जीत रसतन्त्रहवशारदः ।। (R. T. 22/47-48)
Half to one ratti (62 mgs to 125 mgs) is the general dosage of
‘suddha añjana’ for internal administration. If used in
‘raktapradara’ to hamper the excessive blood flow, this medicine
should not be consumed for more than 3 days.
31. Anjana Sattavapatana
• The sattwapätana method of ‘añjana’ is similar as that of
earlier drug ‘manahśilā’. Here one part of ‘śuddha añjana’
is added with 1/8th part each of ‘guda’, ‘guggulu’, ‘loha
kitta’ and ‘ghita’. The mixture is taken in a crucible of
suitable size and subjected for heat in oven to extract
sattva of ‘añjana’.

rasa
2. Strotoanjana : Rasendramangala Rasa , Candabhairava
rasa
3. Nilanjana : Timiranjana ,vadavanala Rasa , vatari Rasa
34. Application
• अञ्जनहद्वतयं पुष्पाञ्जनेन सहितं तु वा । यशदेनाहिदग्धेन
ह्यहभष्यन्दिरं परम् ।। (R. T. 22/53)
• When añjanadwitaya (sroto-añjana and
souvīrāñjana) and ‘puşpāñjana’ are used together,
the medicine will be called as ‘añjanatritaya’. This
medicine when used for external application, it
cures ‘netrabhisyanda’.
