What is a Habitat?
• An animal’s habitat is
its home.
• A habitat contains all
the things an animal
needs to survive.

Woodland Habitat:

• Woodland habitat is a place
that has a lot of trees.
• Animals that live in woodlands
include big animals like bears and
deer, and smaller animals like
raccoons and rabbits.

Ocean Habitat:

• Oceans are areas of
salty water that fill
huge parts on
the Earth’s surface.
• Most common ocean
animals are sharks,
whales and sea turtles.

Savanna Habitat:

• The savanna is a rolling
grassland with scattered
trees and shrubs.
• Savannas have two distinct
seasons: rainy and dry.
• Animals like lions, elephants
and giraffes mainly live in the
savanna.

• Rainforests are a kind of forest
habitat found in warm places and
are full of many leafy plants.
• It’s called ‘rainforest’ because it
gets a lot of rain every year.
•Animals that live in rainforest
habitats include poison dart frog,
jaguar and spider monkey.

Tundra Habitat:

• Tundra habitats are located in
the very north and very south of
the globe and are nearly always
frozen.
• Animals like penguins, polar
bears and seals have adapted to
survive in these extreme
conditions.

• Deserts are places that don’t get
much rain and are very dry. They
can be either hot places, or cold
places.
• Animals that live in the desert
like camels, snakes and iguana are
able to conserve water.
