CAMBRAY CONSULTING PTY LTD
Director
2008—Present
Andrew leads a team who has the experience to provide a wide range of expert input into all manner of road, public
transport, and walk and cycle plans and projects. Andrew’s vision for Cambray is to challenge the boundaries of what is
possible, while ensuring the paramount responsibility is to the safe and efficient transport of people and goods.
ABOUT CAMBRAY
Cambray Consulting was established to provide a service tailored to meet the needs of transport agencies, State and
Local government, and the development industry. It builds on the experience gained whilst fulfilling senior roles with a
leading global consulting firm and former government positions.
Our team has the experience to provide a wide range of expert input into all manner of road, public transport, and walk
and cycle plans and projects. In addition, our team members have been involved in an impressive list of planning studies
and transport infrastructure and development projects, ranging across all sectors and all scales. We pride ourselves on
our ability to be more hands-on than other firms when it comes to resolving the traffic elements of a development
layout, and aim to be more proactive in providing timely advice, to ensure vital timeframes are met. We are consistently
identifying innovative solutions to complex problems, and we don’t accept mediocrity or substandard arrangements for
our clients.
Cambray provides strategic and detailed traffic advice which assists in achieving desired outcomes for clients. Our goal
is to identify and resolve issues up front, rather than deferring issues to the detailed design stage. We work on the belief
that the work of a successful traffic engineer should be subtle, such as our work at the Brisbane Convention and
Exhibition Centre, or it should contribute strongly to a positive overall experience, such as in the Millennium Arts
Precinct or the South Bank Institute of Technology (TAFE) redevelopment.
We pride ourselves on our local knowledge, holistic approach to projects, and focus on the needs of both our client and
the community.
The Cambray Philosophy is simple in its essence:
Seek to understand our client’s needs;
Seek to understand the community needs;
Seek to understand a project from multiple perspectives;
Seek win-win outcomes; and
Seek to deal respectfully and passionately with all people.
The vast majority of our clients are long-term, repeat clients, which demonstrates our desire to understand their
businesses and how we may better assist them, and their community.

Queen’s Wharf Integrated Resort Development
Andrew provided specialist Transport Planning and Traffic Engineering input, including the development of technical
specifications, technical review and assessment, and liaison with Brisbane City Council, the Department of Transport and
Main Roads, and the Department of State Development on a fast-tracked timeframe. The project demanded expert
balancing of stakeholder requirements while providing room for an iconic world-class outcome. As part of this contract,
Cambray was required to review modelling studies, investigations, and preliminary concepts prepared by the various
proponents. Andrew was also required to assist the State with planning and strategy development. Importantly, our
advice was provided generally in accordance with current legislation as well as traffic engineering standards, codes,
manuals and guidelines.
Yeerongpilly Transit Oriented Development
Andrew provided specialist Transport and Traffic input into the masterplan, traffic impact assessment, and overall traffic
design, which included signalised intersections, carparks, service areas, bus stops and shared zones. As a result, an
exemplar Transit Oriented Development masterplan was achieved, containing a number of firsts for both Brisbane and
Australia. The Yeerongpilly TOD project team also went on to win the "Hard Won Victory" award at the 2016 Planning
Institute of Australia National Awards, after overcoming flooding of the site during the 2011 Brisbane flood event.

circulation, parking, and servicing and emergency vehicle operations.
Coronation Drive Tidal Flow Bus Lane Project, Brisbane
Commissioned by Brisbane City Council, Andrew was the project director for this study to identify a means of improving
bus travel times and reliability, without reducing capacity for private vehicles along the three-kilometre corridor in
Toowong, Brisbane. The provision of a peak direction bus lane was selected as the most effective means of providing bus
priority within the constrained riverside corridor, and whilst this has recently been dismantled to make way for the Hale
Street Bridge Project, it is considered to represent the most intelligent and successful application of Tidal Flow
Technology. Andrew specifically assisted Council in the detailed planning and design of the project, including:
Assessing options and developing the overall concept options;
Developing a TRANSYT model to assess the travel time benefits for buses and private vehicles along the corridor;
Assisting Council with the detailed planning and design of the preferred arrangement;
