In this course reflection, Andrea Mark summarizes what she learned in Module 5 about designing documents, slides, and screens. She learned that good design saves time and money while building goodwill, and that fonts, headings, and whitespace create an appealing aesthetic. She practiced these concepts in assignments analyzing a webpage and designing a letter. Andrea recognizes the significance of design, stating it is as important as content, and that without strong design skills her future marketing company would not be taken seriously. Moving forward, she will apply these design principles to make future papers visually interesting for readers.

2. What did you learn?
 In Module 5, I learned that good document design saves time and money,
reduces legal problems, and builds goodwill. A well-designed document
looks inviting, friendly and easy to read. I learned about what fonts are
appropriate to use when writing documents or creating presentation slides. I
also learned about how to tell whether your presentation or web page design
works. I learned that using headings and white space create an esthetic that is
appealing to the reader.

3. How, specifically, did you
learn it?
 In order to fully understand the concepts in this chapter I read the
textbook and participated in the analysis assignment about choosing a
web page and writing about what was wrong with the web page visually.
Also, in the WA3 assignment about writing a letter to the One Book
Committee, I learned how to organize a letter and how to spacing,
tables, and fonts that would appeal to the readers who were reading my
letter.

4. Why does this learning matter,
or why is it significant?
 Learning how to design documents, slides, and screens is important
because without knowing I wouldn’t have any readers that would take
me seriously. In my life, I would like to run a marketing company and
without the proper design of web pages and documents I wouldn’t be
seen as a credible company that people would want to work for them. I
learned design is just as important as the content in any document or
web page.

5. In what ways will you use this
learning?
 In my life, I would like to run a marketing company and

 When I go to write future papers for other classes I will be
able to create a paper that is not only interesting but also
esthetically pleasing to the reader.
