The Beauty of the black Widow
Gordon Grice is fascinated, maybe obsessed with the black widow. He begins provocatively " I
hunt black widows. I capture it. I have found them in discarded wheels and tires and under railroads
tires. I have found them in house foundations and cellars...I have found them I hospitals and in the
den of the rattlesnake.... (176) In this quote Grice start with first person in place and with the
repetition of "I" so that the reader can get the attention into it. Grice's purpose in the " Black widow"
essay is to inform the audience about the widow's life style. He shows inspiration, fascination,
respect and love for widows. He furthers his purpose by using rhetorical strategies throughout his

Here in this quote he is informing the audience that widows are black pearls for him. He feels
inspiration, fascination, respect and love for widows that he compares them to such expensive
precious and exquisite jewels. He also shows the audience that we should feel the same for widows
that instead of been afraid ad kill widows, we should take care of them, gave them love as if they
were humans. In this

How to Analyze an Expository Essay
Expository writing, in general, is present everywhere. When you pick up a magazine or examine a
newspaper article on the newsstand, you are reading a form of exposition because the author's
main purpose of writing that article or essay is to inform the reader about a topic. In the classroom,
many students are required to produce research papers about a specific topic, such as migration
patterns of birds. The purpose of that research paper is to inform the reader, the teacher, about what
are the migratory patterns of birds. Finally, at the workplace, many people are required to create
business reports and memorandums to inform their supervisors and co–workers about the company's
finances and progress. In order to analyze these expository...show more content...
"Good" directions for a process essay should satisfy the following criteria: clear, concise,
organized, and acknowledges common mistakes. Within the model essay itself, it satisfies all of
these requirements. The text describes, "when you find water becoming extremely hot (or
cold)," the homeowner suggests that the guest, "exit the tub promptly while using a sweeping
motion with one arm to push shower curtain aside"(Frazier 303). This piece of direction is clear
because it plainly informs the guest on the actual action they have to perform in order to prevent
hot or cold water from burning or freezing the guest. It is also concise because it does not include
any irrelevant information pertaining to avoiding burning or freezing the guest. This essay is
organized because when the author listed out his or her directions, he or she listed them out in
chronological order. Lastly, "How to Operate the Shower Curtain" acknowledges common
mistakes, such as "REMEMBER TO KEEP SHOWER CURTAIN INSIDE TUB AT ALL TIMES!"
(Frasier 303). The author is cautioning the guest to keep the shower curtain within the bath tub no
matter what. The reason for determining the kind of expository essay it is to help in determining
the purpose of the exposition as a whole. Next, the third step to analyzing an expository essay is to

Expository Essay Rough Draft
Expository Essay: Rough Draft Everyone can feel, just like you and I, but there's one important
question that lingers through the air. Should we really be accepting of other people? To answer
the question, yes! Although this does speak from opinion, it's essential to be accepting of others.
It's understandable to find laboriousness when looking through others, but we need to remember
the reasons why it's imperative. To start off, we're all the same! We're all people, but sometimes,
we seem to overlook that part of us. We all process the same way, and I feel as if that's a good
enough reason to find acceptance. Something else to remember is that we all have emotions. When
we don't accept eachother for who we are, our emotions can get

Expository Writing Class Analysis
This semester in Expository Writing class, I learned ways that can make my writing precise and
professional looking. Specifically, I learned to revise my writing by using two skills of RADAR
revision: deleting and reading, and I demonstrated my understanding of these skills in personal
statement number 1 and 2.
The first skill I used is reordering. Using this skill I made my sentences more logical and made
sure they flow well. In the draft of personal statement 11 I wrote, "I used to hear this phrase a lot
in my childhood and, therefore, I wanted to experience it and for me experiencing it means
growing up". When I revised I changed my sentence to read, "I always used to hear this phrase "
stepping into real life". Thus , I wanted to experience it and for me experiencing it means growing
up". This revision improved my personal statement because when I reordered my sentences, it made
my writing precise and made more sense. In the sentence quoted above, I reordered three sentences
into two. I introduced my phrase "stepping into real life"...show more content...
After using this skill I removed ideas which were unrelated, sentences that didn't make sense and
ideas that were repetitive. In the draft of the second personal statement I wrote, "She works hard
and devotes her time as much as she can to work and support me and my brother financially. She
also takes care of all the house chores from buying groceries to paying all the bills on time and
cooking healthy food for us". When I revised I changed my sentence to read, "My mother works
hard and devotes her time as much as she can to work and support me and my brother". This
revision of deleting improved my personal statement by making it more precise and to the point.
This semester, I have improved my writing by using two skills: deleting and reordering. These
skills are going to help me in the future as a writer by making my writing easy to read and
interesting for the

When we think about the Nazis in World War Two, we often associate those thoughts with barbaric
Holocaust or the anti–Semitic beliefs and attitudes that were held throughout Hitler's ruling.
Although these are extremely significant aspects of this time period, it is rare that we consider the
hardship and sacrifices that Jewish parents made to keep their beloved children safe, nor do we fully
comprehend the guilt and burden that these children then carried with them for the rest of their lives.
Karen Gershon was a Jewish–born German, who grew up during a catastrophic period in Germany's
history. After the pogrom of November 1938 (Kristallnacht) and a wave of attacks on the Jews,
Gershon was sent by the Kindertransport to live in England. Unfortunately, both her mother and

She expresses that although she did not physically endure the war, she had carried the suffering
throughout her entire life. This poem influences the readers by making them appreciate the life
we have been given, the loving families we have and how blessed we are as humans of the 21st
century to live in a time of being exposed to very minimal conflict. It makes all of our problems
seem extremely insignificant. Not only does 'Cast Out' have a great influence on us now, the impact
that this poem would have had during the time of the war would have been a major eye opener to
the public to fully comprehend the full extent of the damage that was being done by the Nazis.
Unfortunately, this was a devastating reality for thousands of other young children all across
Germany at the time, therefore meaning "Cast Out" would have been an amazing piece of literature
that young children could have related their own personal experiences

Reflection Of Expository Writing

Reflective Essay
I have been taking Expository Writing for 4 months. I have found that I need to be able to
communicate myself in writing. I must relay exactly what I'm trying to put forth to others and
convey the right message of understanding. I must be able to explain myself, negotiate, and work
in teams. My language skills can be worked on and improved. I need to be able to pick up the
language of whatever environment I'm in whether it be at work or school, or in society. Since
everyone does not have the same background, learning how to write the written word is important
in any environment. I have learned how to write and express myself, how to think for myself, and
how to find answers to things I do not know. Most important I have learned how to believe in my
writing.
I was very hesitant in taking this English class, I have not taken an English class in many years.
When I took the placement test for reading and English, I tested out of all categories. I was proud
of myself for that feat. When I found I was going to have to take a college level English class, I
avoided it at all costs. Too much pressure. However, I have learned about the Rhetorical Essay
was to understand how an author writes and not focus on what the content is. Knowing the
explanation of what techniques and author uses to make their point come across to the intended
audience. I learned about Argumentative Research Paper is to debate both sides of an issue. The
intent is to be unbiased and state the facts on either side. I learned about Public Piece with
Presentation is meant to deliver an effective presentation to engage your audience. Your audience
listens to not only what you are saying but your visual engagement in the topic being presented.
Also, the point of the class is to be able to work with others to achieve a desired outcome or task.
To know that I can work with others in a cohesive environment to draw on everyone's input and
views. This will assist me in the real work of life and assist in handling many types of people and
myself in communicating.
I have never been a good writer; however, I have learned that communication is not the same when
writing. Having a conversation about aliens

this class? I enjoyed the ability to free–write and getting credit. It is better to free– write for me
because it is my opinion, my idea, and my experience. Which makes it easier not to get writers

Analysis Of The Book ' The ' By Joey Franklin
In the essay written by Joey Franklin, the author exposes his own internal conflict, as well as the
existing prejudice against fast food restaurant workers. The work is well developed, with the use
of witty diction and tone, in addition to the appeals to rhetorical devices. It is noticeable from the
beginning of the work, that Franklin feels ashamed of having to work in a fast food restaurant.
Throughout the entire work, the reader can notice how the main character grows and develops a
new level of maturity, as he experiences and meets different people in this journey. One of the
biggest conflicts he faces while working is seeing people he knows constantly. His initial attitude
is a bit negative, and the tone it is used in the encounters, is rather apologetic, full of unasked
explanations, which really mean a lot more to him than to anybody else. One factor that should be
considered, would be the attitudes other people have towards him, as these could influence his
perceptions. Although he appears to be really scared about what people would think of him, he
meets a couple of people that are actually really supporting and encouraging to the fact that he is
earning money in a honest way. Something really interesting about his reaction is that he struggles
more to explain his situation to people who don 't really judge him as he thinks they do; compared
to the reaction he has towards a man he finds in the bathroom, who the author uses to represent the
way most people think of

My Personal Statement On Writing Essay
Topic A: REQUIRED (no essay on file)
There are many unique aspects I have experiences that lead me to my academic background and
success today which includes me being the first in my family to go to college, my health, and my
work ethic.
I find me being the first in my family to attend college being a unique part of me. I grew up in a
small town with the type of household that doesn't put academics first. My household was as long
as you pass you're doing good because no one experienced a higher education after a high school
diploma. I was constantly asked why I was always studying and spending so much time doing
homework when I can be doing other things in life. Here's the thing though I didn't have this
academic mindset until junior high when my older brother was a senior. He didn't put his
academics first and had to settle for a trade school and I knew that I wasn't going to settle for less
than I deserve. I made it my goal to excel academically and graduate in Top 10% of my graduating
class so I can achieve the honor of being accepted into top universities. I changed my study type
and made my academics my first priority. Since I had a late start in making this my priority I
ended junior high ranked ninth out of my class but this didn't stop me. Over the years of high
school, I kept ranking higher and higher from ninth to seventh, seventh to fourth, and from fourth to
third. All I could think of was I did it all the hard work payed off in success. It didn't happen

Expository Essays : Unwind By Neal Shusterman
When you think of unwinding, you probably imagine yourself sun tanning and drinking a martini
on the beach. You probably see all of your worries disappear and paradise is very nearly near. In
the breathtaking novel Unwind by Neal Shusterman, the teens of the world feel anything but
relieved when they hear the word. Instead, they envision a world in which they no longer exist. At
least, not in the way they used to. Unwind is a novel set in a dystopian society in a future time
period, suffering the after effects of the Hartland War. The war was between the Pro
–life and
Pro–choice sides of society. A compromise was reached post war; it was called unwinding.
Unwinding allowed teens to be harvested for all of their body parts. This novel tells the tale of
three main teens who are to be sacrificed for unwinding. Risa, Connor and Lev struggle to stay out
of sight until their 18th year when they will be considered free citizens. In Unwind, the story makes
one question why a society would even consider something as radical and inhumane as unwinding.
From it, we can connect to times in our own history when we made less than ideal compromises and
evaluate the concept of unwinding as a whole.
Unwinding seemed to me, in a word, disgusting, and that is exactly what it was. Evaluating such a
crime was not hard to do. In fact, while reading this novel I found myself rather angry at the
government of these people. I despised them for even thinking up such a thing as horrendous as to

Equally important to the characteristics of a mentally healthy individual, in today's fast–paced
world, is the psychological health of the brain, the genetic, biological and environmental factors that
play an integral role in general wellness.
Many prominent theorists have argued that perceptions of the self, the world, and the future are
essential for mental health. Yet much research evidence suggests that overly positive
self–evaluations, exaggerated perceptions of control or mastery, and unrealistic optimism are
characteristics of normal human thought. Moreover, these illusions seem to promote other criteria
of mental health, including, the ability to care about others, be happy or contented, and to engage in
productive and creative work. (Taylor & Brown 1988,

Letter To Ephesians Essay
Historical Background In the beginning of the book of Ephesians, Paul specifically states that he is
the author of the letter to Ephesians, though the authenticity of Paul's authorship has been
questioned. Signing the name of an influential person of the period was common practice from "the
third century BC to the first century AD." Though it would not be the first time that Paul's name
was forged, Ephesians is not a controversial letter, so if the author did not want to include his own
name, he could have written the letter anonymously; also, given moral influence of the text, the
author would not have lied for no cause. Ephesians is a bit different from the other letters of Paul in
that it does not follow the normal structure he has previously used: "salutation, thanksgiving, prayer,
body, ethical exhortations, greetings." Paul also makes many personal references throughout the
book of Ephesians including sharing that he is in prison. During the time the letter was written,
most believe that Paul was in a prison in Rome. He wrote three letters at around the same time. One
letter was to the Colossians; one letter was to Philemon, whose slave, Onesimus, had recently run
away; the final letter was to the church that Paul had started in Ephesus. The messenger that carried
the letters to the church of Colossae most likely passed through the sea port and great city at
Ephesus. Working in Ephesus for at least two years, Paul expanded the reach of the Gospel to the

The Importance Of Expository Reading
Expository text is a very important form of reading material that is used to present content in
different ways. Starting as early as kindergarten, children should be able to identify the main topic,
ask and answer questions, and describe connections between two different pieces of information
(Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017). Teachers have problems with studentsreading expository
text. It is sometimes more difficult to read than just regular story reading. Hebert, Bohaty, Nelson,
and Brown conducted a meta–analysis on text structure instruction, concluding that it was an
effective way to improve expository reading comprehension (Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty,
2017).
Different strategies were developed to help with understanding expository reading comprehension.
Teachers play a big role in helping the students understand. They have to begin with clear learning
objectives that outlines the skills teachers want their students to demonstrate by the end of the
instruction (Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017). Once the teacher decides on the learning
objective, they can plan specific instructional strategies to help students achieve the objectives. If
there is a clear goal from the teacher, things will be easier on the students. Identification strategies is
a good start in recognizing the structure of an expository text. There are two possible goals of
identification strategies: to recognize a single text structure or to discriminate among several

Early High School Analysis
Early High School Analytical Expository Writing Personal Independence is a common thing that
everyone wants. You start to feel the urge to learn towards that path when you are a young teen.
Everyone wants to experience independence at some point in their lives. There can be many
struggles and hardships that you may go through to find your independence. Also, there are many
benefits towards having independence. When one wants independence, they strive to work on their

and be the best that we could possibly be. Our younger generation doesn't really know what
independence is because we've always been bottle fed, as in reference to having help.

Liberal Arts Education Essay
A liberal arts education is one that, by definition, focuses not on one specific subject, but rather
prepares its student by giving them knowledge in many areas and developing the student's critical
thinking that will allow them to adapt to an ever–changing world. Naturally, this means students at a
university that employs a liberal arts education take classes outside their major. Students of the
humanities or social sciences must enroll in courses of mathematics and natural sciences, and while
many find no joy in such requirements, they better the individual and are helpful in everyday life,
as well as in larger issues. As Crane and Chiles so eloquently write, specifically of science, "Science
matters at a liberal–arts university because the problems facing our global community will not be
solved by scientists alone." Mathematics as a subject acts in a similar way, giving skills to students,
non–mathematics majors included, to help in their everyday lives or potentially to help the world.
...show more content...
To do that, Chopp argues that "What you have to do is to learn the very tools of learning itself. The
liberal arts are...the gold standard for that" (qtd. in Goral). Students, particularly those in the
humanities and social sciences, are thus offered different methods of learning when classes stretch
beyond their major. As is an essential part of a liberal arts education, this breadth of knowledge
enhances the critical and intellectual thinking of students that otherwise might not have had the
opportunity to do so. The creativity and pursuit of knowledge encouraged by non–STEM majors has
much to offer to solve the problems of the world, and a basic understanding of mathematics and
sciences means that these problems seem much more understandable, their solutions more

General External Environment Analysis Essay
THE GENERAL EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT
– Laka Muralidharan
General external environment is composed of dimensions in the broader society that influence an
industry and the firms within it. These dimensions can be can be grouped into the following six
environmental segments: demographic, economic, political/legal, sociocultural, technological and
global segments.
1) Demographic segment
China and India account for 1/3rd of the population and experts believe that they will remain the
top two populous countries at least until 2050. China and India would contribute 65 million and
142 million new workers respectively to the global workforce by the year 2020. Both countries offer
large, educated, relatively low–cost workforces, and as...show more content...
However, since the recovery is just a few months old, there is still a lot of skepticism about
whether it is for real and whether it has some legs to run further. I think the worst is behind us, but
the future is still uncertain. I believe that it would take quite a while, at least a couple of years to get
back to the economic levels (unemployment rate and housing market) of 2006.
3) Political/Legal segment
This segment is an area where organizations compete for attention, resources and a voice in
overseeing the body of laws and regulations guiding the interactions among nations. As the politics of
regulations change, this segment influences the nature of competition through changing rules. An
example is the global trend toward privatization of government–owned or regulated firms. Firms
must carefully analyze new political administration's business–related policies and philosophies.
Often, firms develop a political strategy to influence government policies and actions that might
affect them.
In the global scenario, more countries continue to join the World Trade Organization(WTO) as they
seem to believe that free trade across nations serves the best interest of individual countries and
their citizens. Down the line, many years from now, we would see a scenario where all countries in
the globe become members of organizations like WTO and there is a fair trade across all countries

Sigmund Freud's Theory of Psychoanalysis Freud's methods of psychoanalysis were based on his
theory that people have repressed, hidden feelings. The psychoanalyst's goal is to make the patient
aware of these subconscious feelings. Childhood conflicts that are hidden away by the patient,
become revealed to both the analyst and the patient, allowing the patient to live a less anxious, more
healthy life. Methods of hypnosis were originally used by Freud to find the cause for anxiety, but he
dismissed them as being too inaccurate. He started to use methods of free association to delve into
the patient's sub–conscious. By assessing the patient's reactions to the analyst's suggestions, Freud
saw that the analyst could help the...show more content...
Through the slips made when the patient was told to carry out the free–association process, and
some of the patient's beliefs and habits, Freud could delve into the patient's subconscious. These
thoughts produced a chain directly into the patient's subconscious, and unearthed memories and
feelings. This process soon became known as psychoanalysis. Freud also believed that dreams
were an important way of getting into the patient's subconscious. By analyzing dreams, he could
reveal the basis of conflict within the patient. Freud believed the mind was made up of three main
parts: the conscious, the preconscious, and the subconscious. The conscious region is the part that
people are most aware of and what others can see. The preconscious region holds thoughts and
feelings that a person can become aware of but that are mostly hidden away. Finally, the
subconscious region consists of thoughts and feelings which are completely hidden away and
which one is mostly unaware of. Some believe that the preconscious region is really a small part of
the much larger subconscious region. Freud said that the mind is like an iceberg, with most of it, the
subconscious, hidden away, and only a small part, the conscious, showing above the water, able to be
seen. Why, then, would the majority of the mind be hidden; why is the subconscious region so much
larger than the conscious region? Freud explained that the answer is that one

  • 2. How to Analyze an Expository Essay Expository writing, in general, is present everywhere. When you pick up a magazine or examine a newspaper article on the newsstand, you are reading a form of exposition because the author's main purpose of writing that article or essay is to inform the reader about a topic. In the classroom, many students are required to produce research papers about a specific topic, such as migration patterns of birds. The purpose of that research paper is to inform the reader, the teacher, about what are the migratory patterns of birds. Finally, at the workplace, many people are required to create business reports and memorandums to inform their supervisors and co–workers about the company's finances and progress. In order to analyze these expository...show more content... "Good" directions for a process essay should satisfy the following criteria: clear, concise, organized, and acknowledges common mistakes. Within the model essay itself, it satisfies all of these requirements. The text describes, "when you find water becoming extremely hot (or cold)," the homeowner suggests that the guest, "exit the tub promptly while using a sweeping motion with one arm to push shower curtain aside"(Frazier 303). This piece of direction is clear because it plainly informs the guest on the actual action they have to perform in order to prevent hot or cold water from burning or freezing the guest. It is also concise because it does not include any irrelevant information pertaining to avoiding burning or freezing the guest. This essay is organized because when the author listed out his or her directions, he or she listed them out in chronological order. Lastly, "How to Operate the Shower Curtain" acknowledges common mistakes, such as "REMEMBER TO KEEP SHOWER CURTAIN INSIDE TUB AT ALL TIMES!" (Frasier 303). The author is cautioning the guest to keep the shower curtain within the bath tub no matter what. The reason for determining the kind of expository essay it is to help in determining the purpose of the exposition as a whole. Next, the third step to analyzing an expository essay is to perform the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Expository Essay Rough Draft Expository Essay: Rough Draft Everyone can feel, just like you and I, but there's one important question that lingers through the air. Should we really be accepting of other people? To answer the question, yes! Although this does speak from opinion, it's essential to be accepting of others. It's understandable to find laboriousness when looking through others, but we need to remember the reasons why it's imperative. To start off, we're all the same! We're all people, but sometimes, we seem to overlook that part of us. We all process the same way, and I feel as if that's a good enough reason to find acceptance. Something else to remember is that we all have emotions. When we don't accept eachother for who we are, our emotions can get Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Expository Writing Class Analysis This semester in Expository Writing class, I learned ways that can make my writing precise and professional looking. Specifically, I learned to revise my writing by using two skills of RADAR revision: deleting and reading, and I demonstrated my understanding of these skills in personal statement number 1 and 2. The first skill I used is reordering. Using this skill I made my sentences more logical and made sure they flow well. In the draft of personal statement 11 I wrote, "I used to hear this phrase a lot in my childhood and, therefore, I wanted to experience it and for me experiencing it means growing up". When I revised I changed my sentence to read, "I always used to hear this phrase " stepping into real life". Thus , I wanted to experience it and for me experiencing it means growing up". This revision improved my personal statement because when I reordered my sentences, it made my writing precise and made more sense. In the sentence quoted above, I reordered three sentences into two. I introduced my phrase "stepping into real life"...show more content... After using this skill I removed ideas which were unrelated, sentences that didn't make sense and ideas that were repetitive. In the draft of the second personal statement I wrote, "She works hard and devotes her time as much as she can to work and support me and my brother financially. She also takes care of all the house chores from buying groceries to paying all the bills on time and cooking healthy food for us". When I revised I changed my sentence to read, "My mother works hard and devotes her time as much as she can to work and support me and my brother". This revision of deleting improved my personal statement by making it more precise and to the point. This semester, I have improved my writing by using two skills: deleting and reordering. These skills are going to help me in the future as a writer by making my writing easy to read and interesting for the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Multimodal Presentation (Analytical Expository Speech) – Formal Copy When we think about the Nazis in World War Two, we often associate those thoughts with barbaric Holocaust or the anti–Semitic beliefs and attitudes that were held throughout Hitler's ruling. Although these are extremely significant aspects of this time period, it is rare that we consider the hardship and sacrifices that Jewish parents made to keep their beloved children safe, nor do we fully comprehend the guilt and burden that these children then carried with them for the rest of their lives. Karen Gershon was a Jewish–born German, who grew up during a catastrophic period in Germany's history. After the pogrom of November 1938 (Kristallnacht) and a wave of attacks on the Jews, Gershon was sent by the Kindertransport to live in England. Unfortunately, both her mother and father passed away as a devastating...show more content... She expresses that although she did not physically endure the war, she had carried the suffering throughout her entire life. This poem influences the readers by making them appreciate the life we have been given, the loving families we have and how blessed we are as humans of the 21st century to live in a time of being exposed to very minimal conflict. It makes all of our problems seem extremely insignificant. Not only does 'Cast Out' have a great influence on us now, the impact that this poem would have had during the time of the war would have been a major eye opener to the public to fully comprehend the full extent of the damage that was being done by the Nazis. Unfortunately, this was a devastating reality for thousands of other young children all across Germany at the time, therefore meaning "Cast Out" would have been an amazing piece of literature that young children could have related their own personal experiences Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Reflection Of Expository Writing Erwyn Suruy December 9, 2017 Eng 111 Reflective Essay I have been taking Expository Writing for 4 months. I have found that I need to be able to communicate myself in writing. I must relay exactly what I'm trying to put forth to others and convey the right message of understanding. I must be able to explain myself, negotiate, and work in teams. My language skills can be worked on and improved. I need to be able to pick up the language of whatever environment I'm in whether it be at work or school, or in society. Since everyone does not have the same background, learning how to write the written word is important in any environment. I have learned how to write and express myself, how to think for myself, and how to find answers to things I do not know. Most important I have learned how to believe in my writing. I was very hesitant in taking this English class, I have not taken an English class in many years. When I took the placement test for reading and English, I tested out of all categories. I was proud of myself for that feat. When I found I was going to have to take a college level English class, I avoided it at all costs. Too much pressure. However, I have learned about the Rhetorical Essay was to understand how an author writes and not focus on what the content is. Knowing the explanation of what techniques and author uses to make their point come across to the intended audience. I learned about Argumentative Research Paper is to debate both sides of an issue. The intent is to be unbiased and state the facts on either side. I learned about Public Piece with Presentation is meant to deliver an effective presentation to engage your audience. Your audience listens to not only what you are saying but your visual engagement in the topic being presented. Also, the point of the class is to be able to work with others to achieve a desired outcome or task. To know that I can work with others in a cohesive environment to draw on everyone's input and views. This will assist me in the real work of life and assist in handling many types of people and myself in communicating. I have never been a good writer; however, I have learned that communication is not the same when writing. Having a conversation about aliens Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 8. Analysis Of The Book ' The ' By Joey Franklin In the essay written by Joey Franklin, the author exposes his own internal conflict, as well as the existing prejudice against fast food restaurant workers. The work is well developed, with the use of witty diction and tone, in addition to the appeals to rhetorical devices. It is noticeable from the beginning of the work, that Franklin feels ashamed of having to work in a fast food restaurant. Throughout the entire work, the reader can notice how the main character grows and develops a new level of maturity, as he experiences and meets different people in this journey. One of the biggest conflicts he faces while working is seeing people he knows constantly. His initial attitude is a bit negative, and the tone it is used in the encounters, is rather apologetic, full of unasked explanations, which really mean a lot more to him than to anybody else. One factor that should be considered, would be the attitudes other people have towards him, as these could influence his perceptions. Although he appears to be really scared about what people would think of him, he meets a couple of people that are actually really supporting and encouraging to the fact that he is earning money in a honest way. Something really interesting about his reaction is that he struggles more to explain his situation to people who don 't really judge him as he thinks they do; compared to the reaction he has towards a man he finds in the bathroom, who the author uses to represent the way most people think of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. My Personal Statement On Writing Essay Topic A: REQUIRED (no essay on file) There are many unique aspects I have experiences that lead me to my academic background and success today which includes me being the first in my family to go to college, my health, and my work ethic. I find me being the first in my family to attend college being a unique part of me. I grew up in a small town with the type of household that doesn't put academics first. My household was as long as you pass you're doing good because no one experienced a higher education after a high school diploma. I was constantly asked why I was always studying and spending so much time doing homework when I can be doing other things in life. Here's the thing though I didn't have this academic mindset until junior high when my older brother was a senior. He didn't put his academics first and had to settle for a trade school and I knew that I wasn't going to settle for less than I deserve. I made it my goal to excel academically and graduate in Top 10% of my graduating class so I can achieve the honor of being accepted into top universities. I changed my study type and made my academics my first priority. Since I had a late start in making this my priority I ended junior high ranked ninth out of my class but this didn't stop me. Over the years of high school, I kept ranking higher and higher from ninth to seventh, seventh to fourth, and from fourth to third. All I could think of was I did it all the hard work payed off in success. It didn't happen Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Expository Essays : Unwind By Neal Shusterman When you think of unwinding, you probably imagine yourself sun tanning and drinking a martini on the beach. You probably see all of your worries disappear and paradise is very nearly near. In the breathtaking novel Unwind by Neal Shusterman, the teens of the world feel anything but relieved when they hear the word. Instead, they envision a world in which they no longer exist. At least, not in the way they used to. Unwind is a novel set in a dystopian society in a future time period, suffering the after effects of the Hartland War. The war was between the Pro –life and Pro–choice sides of society. A compromise was reached post war; it was called unwinding. Unwinding allowed teens to be harvested for all of their body parts. This novel tells the tale of three main teens who are to be sacrificed for unwinding. Risa, Connor and Lev struggle to stay out of sight until their 18th year when they will be considered free citizens. In Unwind, the story makes one question why a society would even consider something as radical and inhumane as unwinding. From it, we can connect to times in our own history when we made less than ideal compromises and evaluate the concept of unwinding as a whole. Unwinding seemed to me, in a word, disgusting, and that is exactly what it was. Evaluating such a crime was not hard to do. In fact, while reading this novel I found myself rather angry at the government of these people. I despised them for even thinking up such a thing as horrendous as to delete a Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Equally important to the characteristics of a mentally healthy individual, in today's fast–paced world, is the psychological health of the brain, the genetic, biological and environmental factors that play an integral role in general wellness. Many prominent theorists have argued that perceptions of the self, the world, and the future are essential for mental health. Yet much research evidence suggests that overly positive self–evaluations, exaggerated perceptions of control or mastery, and unrealistic optimism are characteristics of normal human thought. Moreover, these illusions seem to promote other criteria of mental health, including, the ability to care about others, be happy or contented, and to engage in productive and creative work. • 13. Letter To Ephesians Essay Historical Background In the beginning of the book of Ephesians, Paul specifically states that he is the author of the letter to Ephesians, though the authenticity of Paul's authorship has been questioned. Signing the name of an influential person of the period was common practice from "the third century BC to the first century AD." Though it would not be the first time that Paul's name was forged, Ephesians is not a controversial letter, so if the author did not want to include his own name, he could have written the letter anonymously; also, given moral influence of the text, the author would not have lied for no cause. Ephesians is a bit different from the other letters of Paul in that it does not follow the normal structure he has previously used: "salutation, thanksgiving, prayer, body, ethical exhortations, greetings." Paul also makes many personal references throughout the book of Ephesians including sharing that he is in prison. During the time the letter was written, most believe that Paul was in a prison in Rome. He wrote three letters at around the same time. One letter was to the Colossians; one letter was to Philemon, whose slave, Onesimus, had recently run away; the final letter was to the church that Paul had started in Ephesus. The messenger that carried the letters to the church of Colossae most likely passed through the sea port and great city at Ephesus. Working in Ephesus for at least two years, Paul expanded the reach of the Gospel to the entire Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. The Importance Of Expository Reading Expository text is a very important form of reading material that is used to present content in different ways. Starting as early as kindergarten, children should be able to identify the main topic, ask and answer questions, and describe connections between two different pieces of information (Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017). Teachers have problems with studentsreading expository text. It is sometimes more difficult to read than just regular story reading. Hebert, Bohaty, Nelson, and Brown conducted a meta–analysis on text structure instruction, concluding that it was an effective way to improve expository reading comprehension (Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017). Different strategies were developed to help with understanding expository reading comprehension. Teachers play a big role in helping the students understand. They have to begin with clear learning objectives that outlines the skills teachers want their students to demonstrate by the end of the instruction (Roehling, Hebert, Nelson, Bohaty, 2017). Once the teacher decides on the learning objective, they can plan specific instructional strategies to help students achieve the objectives. If there is a clear goal from the teacher, things will be easier on the students. Identification strategies is a good start in recognizing the structure of an expository text. There are two possible goals of identification strategies: to recognize a single text structure or to discriminate among several possible text Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 16. Liberal Arts Education Essay A liberal arts education is one that, by definition, focuses not on one specific subject, but rather prepares its student by giving them knowledge in many areas and developing the student's critical thinking that will allow them to adapt to an ever–changing world. Naturally, this means students at a university that employs a liberal arts education take classes outside their major. Students of the humanities or social sciences must enroll in courses of mathematics and natural sciences, and while many find no joy in such requirements, they better the individual and are helpful in everyday life, as well as in larger issues. As Crane and Chiles so eloquently write, specifically of science, "Science matters at a liberal–arts university because the problems facing our global community will not be solved by scientists alone." Mathematics as a subject acts in a similar way, giving skills to students, non–mathematics majors included, to help in their everyday lives or potentially to help the world. ...show more content... To do that, Chopp argues that "What you have to do is to learn the very tools of learning itself. The liberal arts are...the gold standard for that" (qtd. in Goral). Students, particularly those in the humanities and social sciences, are thus offered different methods of learning when classes stretch beyond their major. As is an essential part of a liberal arts education, this breadth of knowledge enhances the critical and intellectual thinking of students that otherwise might not have had the opportunity to do so. The creativity and pursuit of knowledge encouraged by non–STEM majors has much to offer to solve the problems of the world, and a basic understanding of mathematics and sciences means that these problems seem much more understandable, their solutions more Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 18. General External Environment Analysis Essay THE GENERAL EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT – Laka Muralidharan General external environment is composed of dimensions in the broader society that influence an industry and the firms within it. These dimensions can be can be grouped into the following six environmental segments: demographic, economic, political/legal, sociocultural, technological and global segments. 1) Demographic segment China and India account for 1/3rd of the population and experts believe that they will remain the top two populous countries at least until 2050. China and India would contribute 65 million and 142 million new workers respectively to the global workforce by the year 2020. Both countries offer large, educated, relatively low–cost workforces, and as...show more content... However, since the recovery is just a few months old, there is still a lot of skepticism about whether it is for real and whether it has some legs to run further. I think the worst is behind us, but the future is still uncertain. I believe that it would take quite a while, at least a couple of years to get back to the economic levels (unemployment rate and housing market) of 2006. 3) Political/Legal segment This segment is an area where organizations compete for attention, resources and a voice in overseeing the body of laws and regulations guiding the interactions among nations. As the politics of regulations change, this segment influences the nature of competition through changing rules. An example is the global trend toward privatization of government–owned or regulated firms. Firms must carefully analyze new political administration's business–related policies and philosophies. Often, firms develop a political strategy to influence government policies and actions that might affect them. In the global scenario, more countries continue to join the World Trade Organization(WTO) as they seem to believe that free trade across nations serves the best interest of individual countries and their citizens. Down the line, many years from now, we would see a scenario where all countries in the globe become members of organizations like WTO and there is a fair trade across all countries Get more content on HelpWriting.net
