The purpose of this study was to compare the selected physical fitness variables of the Physical
Education Professional students participated in the different competition levels. To achieve the purpose,
eighty three male physical education students studying B.P.Ed. Courses at Alvas B.P.Ed. Moddigere and
General Kariyappa B.P.Ed. College Shimogga during 2015 with age ranging 18-25 were selected at
random. They had their credit in participating Intercollegiate, South Zone and All India competitions.
The physical fitness variables selected for the study were the Shoulder Strength (Pull ups in nos.);
Abdominal Strength (Sit ups in nos.); Agility (Shuttle Run in secs.); Speed (50 meters dash in secs.);
Explosive Power (Standing Broad Jump in meters) and Cardiovascular Endurance (600 Meters Run/Walk
in minutes). One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to find out the significant difference
among different disciplines. Further the Scheffe’s Post Hoc test was used to find the significant
difference in paired mean scores. It was concluded that there was a significant difference in the Pull Ups,
Sit Ups and Speed of the Physical Education Professional students participated in the different
competition levels. A better understanding of these relationships will help to understand the power and
endurance and also help to plan sport specific strength training at South Zone, All India and National
level athletes.

The motivation and habits of rock climbers were investigated using mixed methodology in order to better understand exercise participation. Forty-one patrons of a south eastern United States climbing gym completed a demographics form and adapted Sports Motivation Scale II (SMS-II), while thirty-six participants completed the Rock Climbing Motivation Survey (RCMS). Those with higher climbing frequency reported significantly higher levels of identified regulation than individuals who climbed less often (p=0.011). According to a thematic analysis, exercise balance and personal growth and challenges were the most commonly reported themes of motivation for rock climbing. The most frequently cited barriers were injury and time. Participants reported external motivators to climb upon initiation of the sport, but appeared to rely more on internal motivators to continue climbing. These findings, which are supported by current literature on physical activity, may be applicable to promoting exercise participation and maintenance.
Effect of aerobic exercise on walking capacity in subjects with parkinsonism-...Sports Journal
Background Parkinson disease is a neurological syndrome usually resulting from deficiency of
neurotransmitter dopamine as the consequence of degenerative, vascular or inflammatory changes in the
basal ganglia. Aerobic exercise is physical exercise of low to high intensity that depends primarily on the
aerobic energy-generating process. Objective of the study was to review the effect of aerobic exercise on
walking capacity in subject with Parkinson disease. Methods. Total of 7 articles reviewed, which
supports aerobic exercise and walking capacity and conclusion made on the basis of results reviewed.
Conclusion. Thus based on the various results achieved in the previous studies, this literature review
concluded that the aerobic exercises can be a great way to improve walking capacity in patients with
Parkinsonism.

The aim of this study was to compare the selected physical fitness components between Bangladeshi
and Indian girls aged 7 to 9 years old. The study was conducted on 107 Indian girls and 104 Bangladeshi girls
for the comparison of selected physical fitness variables. The selected variables for the study were upper body
strength endurance (flex arm hang), agility (4x10 m. shuttle run) and cardiovascular endurance (Reduced
cooper test). T-test was used to find out the significant difference among different disciplines. It was concluded
that there was significant difference between Indian and Bangladeshi girls in strength endurance (upper body).
But the significance differences were not found on agility and cardiovascular endurance variables. Indian girls
have better agility and cardio respiratory endurance than Bangladeshi girls but Bangladeshi girls have better
upper body strength endurance than Indian girls.
Eccentric training using external loads greater than the
relative concentric training intensity is a potent stimulus for
enhancements in muscle mechanical function, and MTU
morphological and architectural adaptations. The inclusion
of eccentric loads above maximal concentric strength is
therefore an avenue to induce novel training stimuli and
effect change in key determinants, and functional metrics,
of strength, power and speed performance. Strength
improvements are largely mode-specific and arise from a
combination of neural, morphological and architectural
adaptations [8]. Increased agonist volitional drive is posited
as the primary contributing factor to the marked increases
in eccentric strength observed following training [54].

Investigation of the changes on muscular endurance in response to aerobic and...Sports Journal
The rationale of the study is to investigate the changes on muscular endurance in response to aerobic and
anaerobic training among type 2 diabetic patients. To achieve the purpose of the study 45 male type 2
diabetic patients from Ongole, in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, India, were selected as subjects.
The subjects were selected in the age group of 45 to 50 years and they were randomly assigned into three
equal groups of 15 each. Experimental group-I performed aerobic training, experimental group-II
performed anaerobic training and group III acted as control. The muscular endurance was selected as
dependent variable. The data collected from the three groups prior to and post experimentation on
selected dependent variable was statistically analyzed to find out the significant difference if any, by
applying the analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). Whenever the obtained ‘F’ ratio value was found to be
significant for adjusted post-test means, the Scheffe’s test was applied as post hoc test. In all the cases the
level of confidence was fixed at 0.05 level for significance. The result of the study produced 20.48%
percentage of improvement due to aerobic training and 15.32% of improvement due to anaerobic training
in muscular endurance of the diabetic patients
Variation in body composition in professional soccer playersFernando Farias
The present study was the first to compare
body composition according to 6 positional roles. Results
showed that in midfielders, mean body fat and mass values in
players with a central and lateral role differed substantially.
This finding is noteworthy and suggests that when mean
body composition values are assessed across teams, data
should be interpreted according to individual positional role
and not to a traditional or basic division of 4 positional
groups including goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and
attackers.

A study of variations in an athlete’s reaction time performance based on the ...Sports Journal
The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference in the reaction time responses of an athlete
based on various types of stimuli. Reaction time is duration between applications of a stimulus to onset of
response. The present study was measured reaction time in 197 athletes, for the comparison in groups
which were into 3 categories 1. Gender wise (Female and Male), 2. Game wise (Individual and Team), 3.
Standard wise (5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th) and correlation was done between the group based on the 3 tests.
The VRT, SRT and ViRT was measured by the Jerry (Version: 0.6.4) software. During the reaction time
testing visual, sound and tactile stimuli were given for five times and average reaction time after omitting
highest and lowest reaction time, was taken as the final reaction time. Results suggest that a comparison
was done between the performance of male and female athletes and no significant difference was seen in
their performance in all the three test. Similarly a comparison was also done based on athletes playing a
team and individual game and a significant difference was seen in all the three test (VRT: F = 11.538, p =
0.001); (SRT: F = 8.546, p = 0.004); (ViRT: F = 27.240, p = 0.001). Further a comparison was also done
based on the standard in which the athletes study and it was seen that there is significant difference in
two of test (VRT: F = 4.287, p = 0.001); (ViRT: F = 5.434, p = 0.001). Co-relational analysis was also
done based on gender, and a significant negative correlation was found in females VRT and SRT (r = -
.285, p = .001) and the males showed a significantly positive correlation in VRT and ViRT (r = .243, p =
.001) and a significant negative correlation in SRT and ViRT (r = -.353, p = .001). Further, the
correlation done based on individual and team game. A significant negative correlation was found in
individual game athletes VRT and SRT (r = -.532, p = .001) and a positive correlation between SRT and
ViRT (r = .104, p = .001). The team game athletes showed a significant negative correlation in SRT and
ViRT (r = -.462, p = .001). The correlation was done based on standards athletes. It was seen that in 5th
standard a significant negative correlation was found between SRT and ViRT (r = -.764, p = .001), in 6th
standard a significant negative correlation was found in VRT and SRT (r = -.554, p = .001), in 7th
standard a significant negative correlation was found between VRS and SRS (r = -.396, p = .001), and
SRT and ViRT (r = -.381, p = .001). There was no correlation found in 8th standard. In 9th standard a
significant negative correlation was found in SRT and ViRT (r = -.446, p = .001). In 10th standard a
significant negative correlation was found in VRT and SRT (r = -.554, p = .001).
Impact of nutrition education programme on college going girls engaged in spo...Sports Journal
Sports nutrition is a marginalized area of study yet nutrition plays a major role in good sportsmanship.
Sport nutrition focuses on the link between diet, nutrients and performance. The widely separated,
irregular food intakes and the increasing use of foods with low energy concentration can lead to poor
performance. Therefore the study was planned with the main objective to impart nutrition education to
college going girls engaged in sports activity. A need felt nutrition education programme was develop
after the assessment of nutrition knowledge of the female education programme developed in which
several Information Education and Communication material was prepared like poster, chart, flash card,
leaflet/pamphlet, power point presentation, folder. The results of the anthropometric measurement
showed that majority (74%) of the selected sports female were normal weight. The study showed the
sports person lack nutrition knowledge. Nutrition education intervention improved their mean awareness
score from 7.62 to 29.42 which

Evolving Priority in Developing Nations: to Prevent Personal Bias in Social W...inventionjournals
Health remains an important goal for society.‘Health for all’ is the motto of the world health organization. All hospitals spend only on allopathic drugs &modernization despitethe benefits of exercise medicine being well proven Actually, If there is a single remedy which can prevent & treat a host of lifestyle diseases like hypertension, diabetes, cardiac disease, osteoporosis, depression, etc it is only 30 minutes of exercise a day. More so it is free., Probably realizing these benefits there was a move to introduce a holistic exercise Suryanamaskar by the Indian government in year 2015 in all schools. After resistance from few organizations this path breaking decision was unfortunately withdrawn. This paper focuses on the importance of simple, economical health inventions& exercises like Suryanamaskar&the need to remove personal choices & viewpoints from theirintroduction for benefit of all.For large & populous countries like India which can barely afford to spend 3 % of GDP on health, disease prevention by exercise medicine is a good solution. To allow personal bias of a few people to hamper progress of the majority is an alarming & regrettable trend. As is said “one can count the seeds in an apple but not the apples in a seed “Only time will tell the far reaching losses & effects of these myopic & vote bank appeasing decisions.

the objective of the study is to compare the physical fitness of
the physical education professional students who had
participated in the different competition levels.
3. Statement of the Hypotheses
It was hypothesized that there was no significant difference in
the selected Physical Fitness variables (Shoulder strength,
Abdominal Strength, Leg Explosive Power, Speed and
Endurance) of the physical education professional students
who had participated in the different competition levels.
4. Methodology
4.1. Selection of Subjects
To achieve the purpose of the study, seventy-eight male
physical education students studying B.P.Ed. Courses at the
Alvas B.P.Ed. Moddigere and General Kariyappa B.P.Ed.
College Shimoga with age ranging 18-25 were selected at
random. They had their credit in participating in the
intercollegiate, South Zone and All India levels competitions.
4.2. Selection of Variables and criterion measures
The following variables are selected for the purpose of the
study:
1. Shoulder Strength : Pull Ups (In nos.)
2. Abdominal Strength : Sit Ups (In nos.)
3. Explosive Power : Standing Broad Jump (In Meters.)
4. Speed : 50 meters dash (In secs.)
5. Cardiovascular Endurance : 600 Meters Run/Walk (In Minutes.)
4.3. Statistical Technique
The One-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used to
find the significant difference among the three groups. The
Scheffe’s Post Hoc test was used to find the significant
difference in the paired means.
5. Results of the Study
The One-way ANOVA (F test) results of the selected Physical
Fitness scores of the Physical Education Professional students
participated in the different competition levels.
