My Role as a Producer
                        Through my research I noticed
                        Production companies place there
logo before the start of films this is
                        because media institutions want
there brand to be remembered by the
                        audience.

My role in this production of ‘Cries
wolf’ is Producer I am responsible
for marketing and raising funds for
the film production and release, so I
would have to stay with he
convention of placing our groups logo
at the start of the short film this
                        would allow the audience to
                        remember the media institution /
group behind the short film and help
raise funds for the next project as
depending on the success of the film
he audience would want to see what
else the media institution had made.
The Use of Props The use of props in thrillers are
essential, they help the audience with realism
and help portray the characters and setting.
An example would be this establishing shot
from ‘Snow white and the huntsman’
                                                                    (pictured to the left) shows guards lined up;
without props in this extract the audience
would not be able to deduce what time
period they are in and what their aim is (the
swords are an indication of fighting or war)
without this the plot would not make sense
as the audience would not have a visual
depiction of what is going on. The properties

                                                                    vision come to life.
The Use of Props

In this medium close up the audience is aware of what is going on not only by the acting
but through the use of props , props have a crucial role in thrillers as must thrillers
depict an evil chilling event happening an rely on props to help the audience understand
what is happening to the character ,the audience understands the character intention is
to harm by the very fact he is holding an axe if the acting had no props through his acting
and facial expression the audience would understand that he is angry but not to the
extent he is willing o use the axe to harm by using props the director has enabled the
audience to help with the understanding of the characters intentions.
Though the use of props the audience understand the position and status of the
characters, this allows the audience to further there understanding of why certain
events are happening and help them understand the film. This medium close up shot
features a woman wearing jewellery and expensive golden clothes, gold connotes
richness and royalty and the crown indicates that the actress has some royal connection,
without the props the audience wold be lost and would have to rely on the script and
gestures performed by the actors.
Location

This pan, high angled long shot has been used to help the audience establish the scene
and familiarise themselves with the setting that the film or scene would be set in.

The location In thrillers are often used to set the scene or foreshadow events. The
location is important as the right location ads to the realism of the production. ‘Snow
white and the huntsman’ is a mythical tale it would be un realistic to base the tale in the
middle of London however the location scout found places where it is inhabited to help
with the realism and the directors vision.
Lighting
Thriller in the fairy-tale genre – ‘Snow
           White and the Huntsman’

The thriller, horror genre is a key part of
the fairy-tale. Dark low level lighting is
used to help set the mood and scene for
the audience in this shot the low level
lighting helps create a scary mystical
           setting ..

           High level lighting draws
attention to the whole frame of
the scene. It helps showcase the
mis en scene in the case of this
shot the level of lighting is
important as it shows the actions
           of the antagonist
