HOW DOES THE SEQUENCE ESTABLISH THE
TONE OF THE FILM (GENERATE SUSPENSE)?
The movie is introduced by the typical noise that the metro does when
its starting to move, it is followed by a panoramic view of a very big
city , with a lot of skyscrapers, probably Newyork , already giving the
audience a feeling that something big is going to happen.
After a short amount of time the tile sequences start to appear. They
look as a train passing by , leaving behind names and companies
The scene will then pass to a frenetic pace that gets the audience interest
increase, the sound increases and the camera starts to focus on a
determined place , the streets of Newyork.

Here there is frenetic view of the street with cars trying to join the public,
all of them look as if they were in a rush. The noise is really difficult to
stand and the volume of the sound is very high increasing the attention
of the audience.
Continuing in the scene the actors are introduced with the titles imbedded
in the scene itself making it look really fluent .the scene is going very
fast but it slows down to introduce the characters which make them look
really scary and aggressive because the way that they are dressed and
their body language that looks really confident.
While introducing the characters , the camera slows
down and zooms to and extreme close up the
character, in this case is john travolta that is scene
with his hat and glasses trying to cover his true
identity. This generate suspense and seriosity in the
audience because now we know that something is
happening.
In the next scene we can see the name of the train on
which all of the characters are getting on and by
knowing the title of the movie the audience can
immediately understand which generates an
enormous amount of suspense.
The next scene is introduced by the control room of the
Newyork underground , this is probably going to control the train
That is going to be taken.
This also introduces the next character, which is usually in some
Thriller movies.
Following there is a scene of the character saying that he should be
In the office that they are looking at , suggesting that some thing has
Happened in the past making him stay in the lower ranks.
The suspense increases when we encounter the first problem of the
Movie were the train is stuck in a place were it is not supposed to be
And the two views don’t match. Generating a lot of suspense.
The scene is followed by an other major problem increasing the
suspense and introducing all of the places were the issues are.
Following we are introduced to the rest of the passengers which
get on to the train right before the criminals.
