Reservoir Dogs is a neo-noir film directed by Quentin Tarantino in which he also acts. The film follows a group of mobsters played by Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen, Chris Penn, Steve Buscerni, Quentin Tarantino and Tim Roth as they prepare for a heist. The opening scenes show the group in a diner with voiceover narration and then walking down the street in slow motion to establish their cool and laid back personalities, despite being involved in criminal activities.

1. Reservoir Dogs (Micro Analysis)
Reservoir Dogs is Neo-Noir film directed by Quentin Tarantino who
also acts in the film. Other actors in the film are Harvey Keitel,
Michael Madsen, Chris Penn, Steve Buscerni, Quentin Tarantino and
Tim Roth.
The first shot we see is of what appears to be the Reservoir Dogs
sitting around in a café or diner with a mono-tone narrative, we don’t
get any ambient sounds from the diner and it is just the narrators
voice. The screen slowly fades black whilst the voice continues as the
members start to walk out.
Whilst the screen is black some modern jazz begins to play and we
see the main cast begin to walk from the side still with no sounds at
all apart from the music, which is playing in the background.
The camera tracks as the characters are walking down a street from
the side in a slow motion long shot. This camera represents how
‘cool’ the characters are in this film. After the shot of the characters
walking down the street we skip to medium close ups of each of the
members faces and there name at the bottom of the screen, again this
is in slow motion to make the viewer how laid back each of the
members are. Each of the members appear to be talking and just
acting how normal people would however these people are
mobsters.

2. We then skip to a long shot of behind the characters and it appears
that they are walking towards some cars at the end of the street. As
before this is in slow motion as this represents they have time on
their hands and they have no worries.
