The opening sequence introduces the four main characters through snippets of their lives. It shows their individual backgrounds to slowly build up the story. The title of the film is then shown against a plain background. There is both diegetic and non-diegetic sound used. As each new character is introduced, the music changes to suit the situation. The editing is simple, using mainly jump cuts and straight cuts to transition between characters and settings.

followsintroducingallofthefourmaincharactersonebyoneandshowingussnippetsof
theirlifewhichslowlybuildsupthestory.Thenitfinisheswiththetitleofthefilmjustona
plainbackground.Thisparticularopeningsequences wasextremelylonginmyopinion,yes
althoughitintroducedallthemaincharactersIthinksomesnippetswerelonghowever
eventhoughI saythisIthinkthewaytheyintroducedallthemaincharactersinthe
openingwascleverandnottomuch.Itsetuptherestofthefilmextremelywell.

4. Thetitleofthisfilmisshortandsimpleintermsofcoloursandfont.Thetitle
consistofthreewordsandisnotallincapitalswhichdoesnotmakemuchimpact
butitisinaboldprint.Thecoloursareverybasicasthewritingisjustinplain
whitewithablackbackgroundandthefontisalmostlikeatypewriterstyleasthe
filmisaboutwritingandbookssoitgoeswellwithwhatthefilmisabout

5. IntheopeningsequencethereisbothDiegeticandnon-Diegeticsound.As
thisopeningsequencesintroducesallthecharacters,everytimeanew
characterisintroducedthemusicchangestosuitthesituation.Themusicfor
thefirstcharacterissoft,sadmusicthatahsthevoiceoverofthecharacter
speakingoverthemusic.Themusicforthesecondcharacterisquiteparty
musicastheyareataparty.Themusicforthelasttwocharactersarethe
sameanditisalsosad,tensemusicwhichalsohasbothdigeticsoundof
peoplearguingandthevoiceoverofoneofthecharactersoverthemusic.
Afterintroducingthecharactersisskipsintothenextscenewhichhasupbeat
happymusic.

6. Thereisn'tmuchcomplexeditingintheopening sequenceasitisjust
simplejumpcuts switchingtothechangeofcharactersandsettings.
Therearealsoalotofstraightcutsthatareusedthroughoutthe
sequence.

8. Inthefirstshotoftheopeningsequenceisthefilmcompanythatproducedthefilm.The
secondshotoftheopeningiswherethemaincharacterofthefilmisintroduced
immediatelyandwehearabitofthebackgroundstoryofthefilm.Thenextshotiswhere
theyrewindbackintimeanditshowsusabitofthemaincharacterslifeandwhatheislike.
Thelastshotoftheopeningsequence isthetitleofthefilmwhichisplacedontopofan
establishingshotshowingthecitythatthefilmisbasedin.

9. Thetitleofthisfilmisshortasitconsistsofthreewordsandhasquitea
simplefontandcolourtoo.Thecoloursthatthetitlehasusedisasimple
whiteforthefirstandlastwordinanormalfontthatisallcapitalsand
havingthemiddlewordinabrightercolourofyellowandhavingthefontin
boldinsteadofleavingittoitsoriginalfont.

10. ThereisbothDiegeticandnon-diegeticsoundintheopeningsequence.The
nondiegeticsoundisupbeatalmostjazzymusicthatsuitsthetarget
audiencethefilmisaimedatandalsothemaincharacterishasavoiceover
themusic.Thediegeticsoundistheconversationbetweenthetwopeople.

11. Thereisn'tmuchcomplexeditingintheopening sequenceasitisjust
simplejumpcuts switchingtothechangeofsettingsduringthe
sequenceandalsotoajustablankscreenthatgivescredittothose
involved.Therearealsoalotofstraightcutsthatareusedthroughout
thesequence.

13. Thefirstshotofthefilmisthefilmcompanythatproducedthefilm.Thesecondshotisthe
titleofthefilmandthenitgoesintothenextshotwhichintroducesthetwomaincharacters
togetherandestablishingthecitytheyarein.Itthengoesintoshowingthetwomain
charactersseparatelyandgivinganinsightintothecharacterslifeandestablishingthesecond
setting.Thenextshotsarethejustthecreditsofwhoarethestarsinthefilmandthe
producersetc.

14. Thetitleissimpleandshortasithastwowordsandonenumber.Thecolourused
forthetitleiswhitewhichisabasic,simplecolour.Thewordsareinbold
capitalsandthenumberisaboveitinbracketsandthefontusedislikeatype
writerstyleoffont

15. ThereisonlyNon-Diegeticsoundinthisopeningsequence.Themusicthatis
firstplayedisorchestralandsadandthereisanarratorvoiceoverontopon
themusic.Oncethesequencechangestogivingcredittopeoplethemusic
changesintoakindofupbeatpassionatesongwhichhasbittersweetfeeling
toit.
