An understanding of change theory is critical to the success of human and social services professionals. A classic model of change theory consists of three phases: (a) unfreezing, (b) movement, and (c) refreezing (Lewin, 1951). Another model describes the differences between first- and second-order change and how first-order change may continue to perpetuate the very problems human services professionals seek to remedy (Watzlawick, Weakland, & Fisch, 1974). Developmental theory and systems theory may also be relevant to implementing change in human and social services related agencies and organizations. As you develop your Capstone Project strategic plan, think about the element of change and how change might affect the change processes that will be associated with the agency, organization, or community for your strategic plan. Think of principles from relevant change theories and how you can implement those procedures to manage the individual and organizational change that may come about as a result of the strategic plan. Writing a Quantitative Theoretical Perspective
Using these ideas, the following presents a model for writing a quantitative theoretical perspective section into a research plan. Assume that the task is to identify a theory that explains the relationship between independent and dependent variables.
Look in the discipline-based literature for a theory. If the unit of analysis for variables is an individual, look in the psychology literature; to study groups or organizations, look in the sociological literature. If the project examines individuals and groups, consider the social psychology literature. Of course, theories from other disciplines may be useful, too (e.g., to study an economic issue, the theory may be found in economics).
Examine also prior studies that address the topic or a closely related topic. What theories did the authors use? Limit the number of theories and try to identify one overarching theory that explains the central hypothesis or major research question.
As mentioned earlier, ask the rainbow question that bridges the independent and dependent variables: What explains why the independent variable(s) would influence the dependent variables?
Script out the theory section. Follow these lead sentences: “The theory that I will use is _____ (name the theory). It was developed by _____ (identify the origin, source, or developer of the theory), and it was used to study _____ (identify the topics where one finds the theory being applied). This theory indicates that _____ (identify the propositions or hypotheses in the theory). As applied to my study, this theory holds that I would expect my independent variable(s) _____ (state independent variables) to influence or explain the dependent variable(s) _____ (state dependent variables) because _____ (provide a rationale based on the logic of the theory).”
Thus, the topics to include in a quantitative theory discussion are the theory to be used, its central hypotheses or propositions, information about past use of the theory and its application, and statements that reflect how it relates to a proposed study. Example 3.1, which contains a passage by Crutchfield (1986) from her dissertation, illustrates the use of this model.

Stereotyping
Examination of stereotypes, stereotype formation, and the relationship of stereotypes to prejudice and discrimination is a field of study within social psychology. These three constructs are certainly distinct; however, they are clearly related. At times, individuals automatically stereotype with negative consequences. Social psychologists are identifying ways to address automatic stereotyping (Wright & Taylor, 2007).

deas and conceptualizations of human performance technology (HPT) have
evolved over time. What we know about HPT today is timebound. It builds
upon the work of a number of academic and professional practitioners begun
in the United States in the 1950s and 1960s. Randell K. Day, in the book
Performance Improvement Pathfinders: Models for Organizational Learning
Systems, edited by Peter J. Dean and David E. Ripley (1997), presents the case
that the field of HPT evolved from the ideas of B. F. Skinner and his collabora-
tors. “Many performance improvement pioneers got their start by attempting to
improve training and were heavily influenced by Skinner” (Day, 1997, p. 22).
Skinner was trying to explain how people operate in their environments. He
formulated the idea that people “learn to manipulate and control their envi-
ronment by their responses to it” (Day, 1997, p. 23).
Susan Markle, an early collaborator with Skinner, worked on the develop-
ment of teaching machines and accompanying instructional materials. These
activities and much experimentation by Markle and others on designing instruc-
tional materials led to the design and development of programmed instruction
(Day, 1997).
Early in the heyday of programmed instruction, Thomas Gilbert and Joe
Harless experienced instances in which well-designed instruction was failing to
have an impact on individual and organizational performance. Both Gilbert and
Harless came to recognize that training is but one factor that affects human per-
formance. They questioned at the outset of design and development whether

training was the appropriate intervention to improve individual and organiza-
tional performance. These ideas are well articulated in Harless’s 1970 book An
Ounce of Analysis (Is Worth a Pound of Objectives) and Gilbert’s 1978 book
Human Competence: Engineering Worthy Performance. During the past fifty
years, a plethora of individuals has influenced the growth and direct.

The Functional Tradition describes what “messages do and how they move through organizations” (Shockley-Zalabak, 2015, p. 28). A function can be seen as a relationship between two things and/or a purpose or activity for which something (a material thing) exists or is used. In this sense, communication is seen as a series of organizational processes, which serve a purpose. For the Functional Tradition, communication exists or is used to organize, for relationships, and for change functions.
The Functional Tradition can essentially be seen as a systems perspective. Shockley-Zalabak (2015) describes information processing as the “primary function” of organizational systems (p. 28). Work motivation is a topic of crucial importance to the success of organizations and societies and the
well-being of individuals. We organize the work motivation literature over the last century using a
meta-framework that clusters theories, findings, and advances in the field according to their primary
focus on (a) motives, traits, and motivation orientations (content); (b) features of the job, work role, and
broader environment (context); or (c) the mechanisms and processes involved in choice and striving
(process). Our integrative review reveals major achievements in the field, including more precise
mapping of the psychological inputs and operations involved in motivation and broadened conceptions
of the work environment. Cross-cutting trends over the last century include the primacy of goals, the
importance of goal striving processes, and a more nuanced conceptualization of work motivation as a
dynamic, goal-directed, resource allocation process that unfolds over the related variables of time,
experience, and place. Across the field, advances in methodology and measurement have improved the
match between theory and research. Ten promising directions for future research are described and field
experiments are suggested as a useful means of bridging the research–practice gap.

Motivation related to work remains one of the most enduring
and compelling topics in industrial/organizational (I/O) psychol-
ogy. As part of the larger field of motivational science, motivation
related to work examines fundamental questions about the influ-
ence of nonability person attributes (e.g., motives, traits, goals),
work ecologies, and the mechanisms and processes involved in
purposive action. Work motivation affects the skills that individ-
uals develop, the jobs and careers that individuals pursue, and the
manner in which individuals allocate their resources (e.g., atten-
tion, effort, time, and human and social capital) to affect the
direction, intensity, and persistence of activities during work. At
the same time, work motivation is a topic of critical importance to
public policymakers and organizations concerned with developing
work environments, human resource policies, and management
practices that promote vocational adjustment, individual well-

stands at the nexus of society, science, and organizational success.

ethical dilemmas. This qualitative exploratory study examines how human
service managers (N �40), from the United States, identify and resolve ethical
dilemmas. The dilemmas identified by the managers tended to result in the
restriction of missions, programs, services and practice methods. The resolution
of these ethical problems often rested on following the very rules that created
the dilemmas. Additional strategies included consultations and reliance on
abstract principles, specifically those of one’s spiritual faith. Missing, however,
were systematic or evidence-based procedures for resolving challenges that
often threatened the very goals of the human service agencies. The need for
more careful training in the area of ethical problem solving that maintains the
vision of human services is presented.

Abstract Organizations providing services to persons with intellectual disabilities (ID) are complex because of many interacting
stakeholders with often different and competing interests. The combination of increased consumer demand and diminished resources
makes organizational planning a challenge for the managers of such organizations. Such challenges are confounded by significant
demands for the optimization of resources and the goal to reduce expenses and to more effectively and efficiently use existing
resources while at the same time providing high quality services. The authors explore the possibilities of using “system dynamics
modelling” in organizational decision-making processes related to resource allocations. System dynamics suggests the application of
generic systems archetypes as a first step in interpreting complex situations in an organization. The authors illustrate the application
of this method via a case study in one provider organization in the Netherlands. The authors contend that such a modeling approach
can be used by the management of similar organizations serving people with ID as a tool to support decision making that can result
in optimal resource allocation.

INTRODUCTION
Healthcare organizations are complex entities as they have
multiple stakeholders with often conflicting objectives and goals
(Drucker, 1993). Provider organizations specializing in intellec-
tual disabilities (ID) are also complex because of the nature of the
care and supports they provide and how they are organized. Some
of the complexities relate to the difficulties that adults with ID
might have in expressing themselves. Moreover, the specifics of
the care often require a deeper involvement of carers with respect
to their relationships with families and other sectors of society.
Because of their complexity, ID provider organizations, com-
pared with healthcare providers, often require a higher level of
resource planning, collaboration, and cooperation among social,
health, and education services, mental health services, and other
sectors (WHO, 2010).
To manage the complexities and challenges ID provider orga-
nizations face, managers need to analyze and understand complex
interdependencies among the systems with which they are dealing.

deas and conceptualizations of human performance technology (HPT) have
evolved over time. What we know about HPT today is timebound. It builds
upon the work of a number of academic and professional practitioners begun
in the United States in the 1950s and 1960s. Randell K. Day, in the book
Performance Improvement Pathfinders: Models for Organizational Learning
Systems, edited by Peter J. Dean and David E. Ripley (1997), presents the case
that the field of HPT evolved from the ideas of B. F. Skinner and his collabora-
tors. “Many performance improvement pioneers got their start by attempting to
improve training and were heavily influenced by Skinner” (Day, 1997, p. 22).
Skinner was trying to explain how people operate in their environments. He
formulated the idea that people “learn to manipulate and control their envi-
ronment by their responses to it” (Day, 1997, p. 23).
Susan Markle, an early collaborator with Skinner, worked on the develop-
ment of teaching machines and accompanying instructional materials. These
activities and much experimentation by Markle and others on designing instruc-
tional materials led to the design and development of programmed instruction
(Day, 1997).
Early in the heyday of programmed instruction, Thomas Gilbert and Joe
Harless experienced instances in which well-designed instruction was failing to
have an impact on individual and organizational performance. Both Gilbert and
Harless came to recognize that training is but one factor that affects human per-
formance. They questioned at the outset of design and development whether

training was the appropriate intervention to improve individual and organiza-
tional performance. These ideas are well articulated in Harless’s 1970 book An

years, a plethora of individuals has influenced the growth and direct.

The Functional Tradition describes what “messages do and how they move through organizations” (Shockley-Zalabak, 2015, p. 28). A function can be seen as a relationship between two things and/or a purpose or activity for which something (a material thing) exists or is used. In this sense, communication is seen as a series of organizational processes, which serve a purpose. For the Functional Tradition, communication exists or is used to organize, for relationships, and for change functions.
The Functional Tradition can essentially be seen as a systems perspective. Shockley-Zalabak (2015) describes information processing as the “primary function” of organizational systems (p. 28). It is useful, then, to understand the various components of a system, more specifically, as they relate to the function of organizing (organizational communication system).
The Meaning-Centered Approach views communication as the process through which shared realities are constituted. Shockley-Zalabak (2015) describes the Meaning-Centered Approach as taking the perspective that organizational communication is the “process for generating shared realities that become organizing, decision making, sensemaking, and culture” (p. 38).

Work motivation is a topic of crucial importance to the success of organizations and societies and the
well-being of individuals. We organize the work motivation literature over the last century using a
meta-framework that clusters theories, findings, and advances in the field according to their primary
focus on (a) motives, traits, and motivation orientations (content); (b) features of the job, work role, and
broader environment (context); or (c) the mechanisms and processes involved in choice and striving
(process). Our integrative review reveals major achievements in the field, including more precise
mapping of the psychological inputs and operations involved in motivation and broadened conceptions
of the work environment. Cross-cutting trends over the last century include the primacy of goals, the
importance of goal striving processes, and a more nuanced conceptualization of work motivation as a
dynamic, goal-directed, resource allocation process that unfolds over the related variables of time,
experience, and place. Across the field, advances in methodology and measurement have improved the
match between theory and research. Ten promising directions for future research are described and field
experiments are suggested as a useful means of bridging the research–practice gap.

Motivation related to work remains one of the most enduring
and compelling topics in industrial/organizational (I/O) psychol-
ogy. As part of the larger field of motivational science, motivation
related to work examines fundamental questions about the influ-
ence of nonability person attributes (e.g., motives, traits, goals),
work ecologies, and the mechanisms and processes involved in
purposive action. Work motivation affects the skills that individ-
uals develop, the jobs and careers that individuals pursue, and the
manner in which individuals allocate their resources (e.g., atten-
tion, effort, time, and human and social capital) to affect the
direction, intensity, and persistence of activities during work. At
the same time, work motivation is a topic of critical importance to
public policymakers and organizations concerned with developing
work environments, human resource policies, and management
practices that promote vocational adjustment, individual well-
being, and organizational success. As such, work motivation
stands at the nexus of society, science, and organizational success.
The increasing importance of motivation over the last century is
reflected in both the number and nature of motivation-related

Abstract Organizations providing services to persons with intellectual disabilities (ID) are complex because of many interacting
stakeholders with often different and competing interests. The combination of increased consumer demand and diminished resources
makes organizational planning a challenge for the managers of such organizations. Such challenges are confounded by significant
demands for the optimization of resources and the goal to reduce expenses and to more effectively and efficiently use existing
resources while at the same time providing high quality services. The authors explore the possibilities of using “system dynamics
modelling” in organizational decision-making processes related to resource allocations. System dynamics suggests the application of
generic systems archetypes as a first step in interpreting complex situations in an organization. The authors illustrate the application
of this method via a case study in one provider organization in the Netherlands. The authors contend that such a modeling approach
can be used by the management of similar organizations serving people with ID as a tool to support decision making that can result
in optimal resource allocation.

INTRODUCTION
Healthcare organizations are complex entities as they have
multiple stakeholders with often conflicting objectives and goals
(Drucker, 1993). Provider organizations specializing in intellec-
tual disabilities (ID) are also complex because of the nature of the
care and supports they provide and how they are organized. Some
of the complexities relate to the difficulties that adults with ID
might have in expressing themselves. Moreover, the specifics of
the care often require a deeper involvement of carers with respect
to their relationships with families and other sectors of society.
Because of their complexity, ID provider organizations, com-
pared with healthcare providers, often require a higher level of
resource planning, collaboration, and cooperation among social,
health, and education services, mental health services, and other
sectors (WHO, 2010).
To manage the complexities and challenges ID provider orga-
nizations face, managers need to analyze and understand complex
interdependencies among the systems with which they are dealing.
In order to achieve that, ID provider managers need to examine
and shift their mental models regarding their role in managing
the organization and in establishing relationships with all the

EXPECTANCY THEORY
One widely cited theory of motivation is Victor Vroom’s (
1964
) Expectancy Theory (also referred to as the VIE Theory). III. Credibility Statement: I have studied body images for the past three months due to my own unhealthy eating habits and have gained an understand of what this concept is all about.
IV. Preview: Today I will be talking about how unhealthy eating leads to obesity, the affect the media and society has on body images, and the affect on trying to be skinny has on young women today.
Transition: Let’s begin with my first point -
Body
I. Main Point: How unhealthy eating, the media, and being skinny affects our body images.
A. These are the facts (“Facts about Eating Disorders”, 2006)
1. Because young girls try to look like their idols more than 75% of young girls are on diets.
2. About 50% of 9-year-old girls have dieted.
3. At least 1 million Americans develop an eating disorder each year.
4. A girl with anorexia usually has a distorted body image which means she may actually be skinny but to herself she looks fat.
5. And a girl with bulimia will first stuff herself with a lot of food (binge) and then force herself to throw it up afterwards (purge).
6. Ever since America Next Top Model, Baywatch and One Tree Hill many young girls are trying to look like their idols, and it is taking a toll on their bodies
B. These young girls do all this to their bodies just to be skinny.

Abstract
Bloodstream infections refer to the infections that occur in the healthcare facilities and they are the new infections that are acquired within the facility. These infections lead to hospitalization, morbidity, and mortality in hemodialysis patients. There are about 30,100 reported incidences of infections in the United States. The bloodstream infections are caused by the equipment being used by the healthcare providers for example the surgical equipment, the environment of the facility, and the healthcare workers or patients who transmit such infection to the other. The paper aimed at discussing the adherence or the practices recommended by the CDC to help in the prevention and reduction of the bloodstream infection in hemodialysis patients. The CDC proposed some interventions to be followed in the reduction of these infections. These included the provision of the feedback, surveillance, audit of the hygi.

1. INTRODUCTION
Knowledge remains one of the most significant resource for any given firm (Grant, 1996a: 375). New knowledge is essential in all organizations, it contributes to the innovation, organizational change, cost-reduction routine performance and their survival. Knowledge provides the organization the opportunities to improve their capacity and their market position. Nowadays strategic alliance has become a common cooperation form in the modern economy. In the past years, strategic alliances have significantly increased, since 1900 strategic alliances have increased by more than 25 per cent annually. Introduction to the Problem
The problem under investigation in this research is the issue of obesity and weight management. This topic was selected because it the issues is affecting many people today around the world and most significantly in the United States. Thousands of people worldwide are dying from obesity and overweight related illnesses such as diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure among many others (Obesity & weight control: Health risks, weight loss & bariatric surgery, n.d.). Therefore, it has a huge impact on the healthcare system since it has increased the problems that healthcare professionals and facilities are facing. Hospitals are now congested mainly due to diet related illnesses, obesity being at the top of the list, which causes short staffing due to the increasing patients numbers relative to providers’ numbers. The providers, especially nurses, may then suffer from burnout and thus affecting the quality of care that they provide. Several weight management programs have then been created in order to tackle the serious problem of obesity. Therefore, conducting a proper research on obesity and weight management programs is very crucial since it will help in providing in-depth understanding of the whole issue and thus useful in developing and implementing ways that can curb the problem by proper implementation of these programs. This will improve the conditions of healthcare facilities and eventually the quality of care provided.
The Problem
The problem is obesity and weight management programs. Obesity is a medical condition that occurs when an individual has excess body fat or weight that might have some significant effect on his or her health (Hu, 2008). On the other hand, weight management is the process of embracing long-term lifestyle modification to keep a healthy body weight on depending on the age, gender, and height of an individual. They include methods such as eating heathy food and increasing the levels of physical activity. Weight management programs are then the initiatives that are created in controlling the weight of individuals in order to control such conditions as obesity. Managing one’s weight through these programs is very important part of their health because they avoid being overweight and obese to reduce the risks of medical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and stroke. The intake of diet considered unhealthy, lack of physical exercise and practicing unhealthy lifestyles such as too much intake of alcohol, smoking may lead to increase in weight, and thus a person is considered overweight. This is when the body contains too much body fat above the required amount. Obesity then occurs after being overweight when the calorie intake of a person goes higher than the amount of energy that .

Environmental influences refer to external factors that impact an organization's marketing decisions involving pricing. Having a pricing goal is not sufficient; an organization must consider many other factors before setting its product prices. Customers are a crucial consideration when making a pricing decision. The three vital elements for consideration about customers are whether they feel that the product provides value, how sensitive the buyers are to prices changes, the number of buyers available. The company needs to collect market size data and try to identify how sensitive customers are on price. The product's price should match the buyers' perception of the value they are likely to get from the product (Zhou, 2019). The number of buyers able and willing to buy the product, determine the demand of the product, and due to forces of demand and supply, it influences the product price. When the demand is high, the company can set relatively high prices.
The way competitors sell and price their products has a great impact on the pricing decision of a company. If a customer wants to buy a pair of sneakers from Gucci Company, but the price 20% less in another competing company, the customer is more likely to buy the product from the competitor. Companies should consider matching their prices to that of the competitors to establish and maintain their loyal clients to avoid this problem, which may cost the company its market share. When the competition is too high, the company may also consider giving an extra discount if the customers feel the prices may be better somewhere else. The presence of substitute commodities impacts the pricing decision of a company as well (Kim, 2019) If the prices of certain products become too high, the customers may look for a substitute that solves the same problem. High completion also means and the company should invest more in advertising.
The economic forces impact the product pricing decision. The economic environment factors like unemployment levels and interest rates impact the price. When the level of unemployment is very high, many people will have lower bargaining power due to low income, which results in reduced demand for the product, the lower the demand, the lower the price. When interest rates are very high, the company is likely to increase the prices of a product to compensate for the interests. The rate of currency exchange in the international market also influences the product pricing.

Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

- 1. An understanding of change theory is critical to the success of human and social services professionals. A classic model of change theory consists of three phases: (a) unfreezing, (b) movement, and (c) refreezing (Lewin, 1951). Another model describes the differences between first- and second-order change and how first-order change may continue to perpetuate the very problems human services professionals seek to remedy (Watzlawick, Weakland, & Fisch, 1974). Developmental theory and systems theory may also be relevant to implementing change in human and social services related agencies and organizations. As you develop your Capstone Project strategic plan, think about the element of change and how change might affect the change processes that will be associated with the agency, organization, or community for your strategic plan. Think of principles from relevant change theories and how you can implement those procedures to manage the individual and organizational change that may come about as a result of the strategic plan.
