 Lighting controls are relatively straight-forward to understand. The two primary elements to
control are:
 state of the light (on or off)
 brightness level of the light
Controlling these two elements in an intelligent way not only leads to savings in energy, but also

room.
 Lighting scenes are the combination on/off and brightness level settings for multiple lights in the
home. This helps achieve a desired environment for a given situation or occasion.
 Once a lighting scene is defined, it can be invoked by time of day, motion/occupancy or contact
sensing, or the push of a single button at a convenient place in the home.
 Sunset/sunrise, wakeup, home from work, and night lights are examples of time of day scenes

 Automation system can control the heating and air conditioning (HVAC) in the form of
