Rap music originated in the Bronx in the 1970s through the collaboration of African American singers and DJs. It grew popular in the 1980s with artists like Grandmaster Flash. The 1990s saw the rise of gangsta rap on the west coast with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, as well as east coast artists like The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac. Into the 2000s, Eminem became one of the most successful white rappers while Kanye West brought a unique style. Current talented new artists like J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and Big K.R.I.T are continuing to shape the genre.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
How to Make a Field invisible in Odoo 17Celine George
It is possible to hide or invisible some fields in odoo. Commonly using “invisible” attribute in the field definition to invisible the fields. This slide will show how to make a field invisible in odoo 17.
2. Rap or Hip hop is a style of music which combines a speech called rapping and
instrumental music which gives more rhythm to the speech.
Hip Hop is not only a style of music, it actually is a cultural movement which has a
lot of elements. Break dancing or graffitis are an example.
When we refer to the term rap, we are only talking about the music.
What is rap / hip hop?
3. History of Rap
Rap music was born in the Bronx (New York) during the 1970s due to the
collaboration between african american singers (later known as MCs) and some
instrumental DJs who made the beat for the songs.
Some say that DJ Hollywood was one of the first rappers who started making rap
music, but when Kurtis Blow released the song The Breaks, he became the most
famous singer in the seventies.
However, it wasn’t until the 80s when the rap industry became strong.

4. The 80s started with Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five releasing an
important album. Later on, they also released a single called The Message, which
is still one of the best songs made in the hip hop genre.
Loads of MCs appeared during this period of time,
which caused the “Golden age” of hip hop in the late
80s / early 90s.
Some of the main groups of this period was Run-DMC or the Beastie Boys, who
was the first hip hop group to have an album at the top of the Billboard charts.
1980s
5. 1990s
One of the most successful albums of the 90s was Fear of a Black Planet
by Public Enemy.
Sugarhill Gang’s
“Rapper’s Delight”
was their most significative single. It became the first rap single to enter the
national top 20.
6. MC Hammer released a multi platinum album
called Please Hammer, Don’t Hurt ‘Em.
He became internationally famous for his
number one single U Can’t Touch This, which
is still listened nowadays.
In 1992 Dr.Dre released The Chronic, helping to establish West Coast gangsta
rap as more commercially viable than East Coast hip hop. This album founded a
new style called G Funk.
Dr.Dre
7. Snoop Dogg developed and popularized the
G Funk with the album called Doggystyle.
He had a huge impact in the 90s.
His second album called Tha Doggfather
debuted at No. 1 with Snoop’s Upside Ya
Head. The album was certified double
platinum in 1997.

8. Ice Cube is considered an icon and inspiration for a lot of singers.
He has been a very important person in the hip hop industry, and
almost every rapper has a song that mentions him or tries to be
like him.
His best single is, by far, Today Was A Good Day, which is one of the
best rap songs ever made.
In 1994, Warren G and Nate Dogg, released a song called Regulate, which is also
one of songs that cannot be ignored. It reached top 2 on the Billboard charts and
has been successful worldwide.
In the mid 90s, Hip Hop became a best selling genre and the top selling music
genre by 1999 with 81 million CD’s sold.
9. Rivalry between coasts
The rivalry between the West Coast and the East Coast has had
a huge impact in the music made in the middle 90s.
The east-side was mainly defended by The Notorious B.I.G,
who was a very important rapper. He released some of the
most known hip hop songs, like Juicy or Big Poppa.
The west-side was defended by Tupac, who is, for the 99% of the hip hop
fanbase, the greatest rapper ever. Most of his songs fought racism and he was a
big inspiration to a lot of singers.
Sadly, they were both killed in the late 90s.
10. 2000s
The 2000s are considered a step to a new era to the rap industry. New artists step
up while the old ones stop performing.
Eminem, currently one of the top rap artists, released his first album (The Slim
Shady LP) in 1999, and followed this one the next year with The Marshall Mathers
LP. He has made 8 albums up until now and he is working on the next one. Oddly
enough, he is one of the few successful white-skinned rappers in the hip hop
history.

11. One of the stars from the 2000 is Kanye West. He has released 7 solid albums
and absolutely everyone agrees that he has made some of the best hip hop content
and he is a great artist. His unique style makes his songs be fluent and chill with
an enjoyable rhythm.
OutKast, although they are not from the 2000, they are from the 90s, they are
still performing nowadays. They are a duo made by André 3000 and Big Boi, who
are really good artists. Together they have made good singles like Ms. Jackson or
Hey Ya!, which are very known.

12. New talents
J. Cole is considered the best current rapper all around the world by some music magazines.
He has released very good singles and last year he released an album which is on its way to
be a top seller. No doubt we will hear from him in a near future.
Kendrick Lamar is also quite a new talent. His unique style and flow makes him a very good
artist and his songs are really enjoyable to listen.

13. New talents
Big K.R.I.T is an artist who, with no doubt, will rise to the top in a few years. His originality and
voice are impressive and, according to music professionals, with J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar,
are probably the best rappers at the moment.
