Amendment Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of amendments can be a challenging task, requiring a
comprehensive understanding of legal and historical contexts. The complexity arises from the
need to delve into the intricate details of the amendments, their origins, and the implications
they carry. Researching the constitutional amendments demands a thorough examination of legal
texts, historical documents, and scholarly analyses.
Moreover, crafting a coherent and persuasive argument necessitates a nuanced grasp of the
subject matter. One must carefully navigate through the various perspectives surrounding each
amendment, considering both the intentions of the framers and the contemporary interpretations.
The ability to synthesize information and present a well-structured essay becomes crucial in
delivering a compelling piece of work.
In addition, addressing the evolving nature of amendments and their impact on society requires
a keen awareness of current events and legal developments. It demands the ability to critically
analyze the relevance and applicability of amendments in today's context, adding another layer of
difficulty to the writing process.
The challenge is not only in the depth of understanding but also in articulating thoughts
coherently. Expressing complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner is a skill that takes
time to develop. Furthermore, adhering to the conventions of academic writing, such as proper
citation and formatting, adds another layer of complexity to the task.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of amendments involves navigating through a
complex web of historical, legal, and societal intricacies. It demands a thorough understanding of
the subject matter, critical thinking skills, and the ability to communicate ideas effectively.
Despite its challenges, delving into the world of amendments provides a rewarding opportunity
to explore the foundations of constitutional law and its impact on the ever-changing landscape
of society.

Product Differentiation and Market Segmentation in Applesauce: Using a Choice
Experiment to Assess the Value of Organic, Local, and Nutrition Attributes
Jennifer S. James, Bradley J. Rickard, William J. Rossman
Recently, there has been much interest among horticultural producers concerning the
marketing of organic and locally produced food. A consumer survey was
administered that asked respondents to choose an applesauce product from a list of
products differentiated by price, and by labels that described fat content, nutrition
content, and whether the product was grown organically and/or locally. Our analysis
indicates that consumers were willing to pay more for locally grown applesauce
compared to applesauce that was labeled USDA ... Show more content on

The four attributes were USDA Organic, PA Preferred, No Sugar Added, and Low
Fat. This study examines consumer preferences for these applesauce attributes as a
way of evaluating strategies for differentiating products made from Pennsylvania
apples. Previous work has examined consumer demand for food products in niche
markets, and several studies have assessed consumers WTP for product attributes
including organic, locally grown, and various nutritional claims.1 Much work has
been completed that examines consumer demand for organic and local attributes in
fresh produce, milk, and meat products; yet relatively little research has examined
these issues for processed fruit and vegetable products. Furthermore, we include
choices that allow consumers to consider organic, local, and nutrition attributes in one
choice experiment so that consumer valuation of these attributes can be compared
directly for applesauce. Following earlier research, our survey was used to collect
detailed demographic information about the respondents that was incorporated into
the analysis. As a result, estimates of consumer WTP for applesauce attributes are
reported for consumer market segments, and the differences among those segments
are examined. Consumer Response to Labels Placed on Food Products

Understanding how consumers respond to food labels is an area of research that has
attracted much attention recently.

Ed Sheeran, thinks of his music not just his song, but someone s first dance at a
wedding or someone s late night feel. His lyrics can carry you right into the story and
can touch the lives of so many people. There are a lot of feelings behind his songs,
he plays the guitar and it is like you can feel the emotions being felt in the songs. A
lot of people can relate to the stuff he sings about, his lyrics are powerful and it is one
of a kind. It is from his heart and his own experience. His songs always leave
everyone with tears on their eyes or a smile on their face.
Every one of his songs has multiple purposes. His song Photograph is not just about
fixing a relationship with your partner, it is more about restoring the relationship
with your family, and making memories with your love on, more specifically Ed
and his mother. The song was recorded for his X album in 2014, the song was
released on a mobile device application known as the iTunes store 20 June 2014,
the single was released 11 May 2015 after the music video was released 9 May
2015 on YouTube. The music video features real home footage taken from old
family movies of Ed Sheeran. Giving us insight into his private early life, the clips
take viewers on a journey through Ed life from a baby and a little kid playing
numerous instruments to a teenager on his guitar playing on the streets and to the
present day performing in front of a huge crowd.
Purdah Poem By Imtiaz Dharker
The poem Purdah by Imtiaz Dharker, shows how women who practice purdah feel
helplessly trapped when deciding whether to follow purdah, society s demands, or
their own heart. Purdah is a practice for women where they live hidden away from
men and other strangers. It is supposedly a means of safety. In the poem, a girl
suddenly experiences a turning point in her life when she gets more aware of what
society expects of her and how practicing purdah limits her. In today s society, purdah
challenges a womans dignity and is degrading.
Women who follow the strict practices of purdah feel restricted. In the first stanza, it
shows how the amount of time that she has been hidden away from the outside world
affects her. She comes out of hiding because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Most women who practice purdah have been born into a family that has kept the
tradition throughout the generations. They can not disappoint their families. In the
fifth stanza, it shows how great it feels for these women to rebel a little. When
they come out of hiding, a light filters inward through their bodies walls (21 22).
This metaphor describes how when they show themselves to the outside world, it
is as if a light washes over them and they say goodbye to the darkness they are
always in. This metaphor gives such a vivid image of how good it feels for them to
release themselves. Another place where the word inward is used is the last few
sentences, passing constantly out of her own hands, into the corner of someone
else s eyes... while the doors keep opening inward and again inward (33 37). When
inward is used here, it is a negative tone, because it contradicts itself. Doors are
supposed to open outward, to let someone out, free them. Instead in the metaphor,
the doors only open inward, meaning the individual is trapped inside. The
repetition of the word inward is interesting because it is used multiple times and
are used in two different tones. The poet also chooses to use another metaphor that
applies to our hearing sense, voices speak inside us, echoing in the places we have
just left (23 24). This metaphor is so descriptive, the reader can almost hear the
voices echoing. The voices are memories of the women, and are linked to certain
places they have been. It basically says how intense the memory is and how one look
at the world around them affects them strongly. Women practicing purdah want to
follow their heart, but also are pressured by wanting to keep traditions alive, and

The Case Of Marks And Spencer
Change Management Issue: The case of Marks and Spencer
Introduction
Marks Spencer is founded by Michael Marks and Thomas Spencer. Since starting in
1884 by selling clothes for men and women, the company has grown in the UK and
soon in the rest of the world they experienced tremendous market strength and even
expanded their items from food, wine, beverages and household items. In the 19th
century they expanded to more than 1,250 stores in the UK and major cities in
different countries worldwide. It also gained more than 85,000 employees during this
decade. In the mid of the 19th century, however, it is challenged by the competition
that weakened their clothing and fashion for men and women, their popularity began
to subside.
The management is challenged by external and internal factors where even their
employees suffered from low motivation because of fear of losing their job. There are
also branches and shops that need to be close because of the week sales. Although
until today, the company is an accepted organization because of their good reputation,
it is obvious that the company struggle in the retail industry with the competition
including Debenhams, Primark, Zara, H M and other popular fashion organization.
Some critics and market experts even believe that company has no place in today s
modern industry (Ruddick, 2015). Management does not give up easily, they
identified that change management is the issue and came up with solutions to
overcome these problems.
Audacious Euphony Reflection
The first time I learned about the ideas similar to sum class was when I read
Richard Cohn s Audacious Euphony, and I was fascinated by how much
information about voice leading can be facilitated by just summing up the pitch
class collection. I am excited to read this paper, which extends the discussion from
diatonic triads and tetrachords to more set classes, and how much of the similar
voice leading properties are retained. There are, however, multiple questions that I
am not sure about the spaces created in the paper, as well as those by Tymoczko
and many others, in terms of its musical value. I am also not sure about the use of
the pitch class clockfaces and the current representation of pitch center of balance,
and I wonder if there is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I found the idea of relating the set classes of the same sum through pure contrary
voice leading very useful and neat. The tetrahedron shown on p. 36 is very
interesting in terms of geometrical properties. However, the tetrachords with
doubling tetrahedron is somewhat artificial to me. The geometrical neatness is
facilitated by the multiset (0112), but outside the vertices, each tetrachord can only
link to one/two tetrachords of the same nature through the same motion. Similarly
in the tetrahedron B, the tetrachord that enables the geometry to happen is (0134). I
wonder how we can find out such pivotal set classes when we construct such
spaces. In the case of the space in trichords, I really curious about the cases when
we are dealing with odd sum classes. I am fascinated by the fact that the axis of
symmetry is between two rows of 6 trichords (like p. 21) while that of an even sum
class only contains one row of 6 trichords that is the also axis of symmetry. Other
than figuring out the pitch center of balance through the clockface or arithmetical
means, would there be some kind of geometrical significance? There are a lot of
interesting geometrical features in the examples and I really want to see more in
depth relationship between the pitches and the patterns I am looking
Pit Bulls Be Banned, And Euthanized
Every day in the United States, there are pit bulls be banned, and euthanized. Dog
Shelters are overfilled with pit bulls. There are approximately 937 cities in the
united states that has some sort of a Breed Restriction legislation. To me this is
absurd! People are getting these dogs and are training them to fight. It s so wrong.
Pit bulls are so discriminated against now because how people are training these
dogs to fight. Every time I hear about a dogfight or seeing a pit bullchained up makes
me really upset. I m tired of it. How would those people feel if they were treated like
that? I personally love Pit bulls, but some people don t. I personally own a brindle pit
bull named Boosie. I always say how a dog turns out depends on their owner. I had
my dog ever since he was a puppy, and I raised him very well. He s so sweet and
loving. I don t see how people would want to ban pit bulls?
Pit bulls have a lot of history. Pit bulls been bred for human companionship, and
since the 1900s, they have been bred for conformation showing as well. Pit bulls
have been used as farm dogs, family dogs, military mascots, and all purpose
companions. In England, the Staffie Bull is known as the The Nanny Dog or The
Children s Nursemaid because of their placid and nurturing demeanor toward
children. They say Regardless of how gentle your dog is, all dogs of any breed
should never be left alone unsupervised with children .Throughout their history in
America, pit bull dogs have

Yellowstone volcano is very active volcanic system which requires much
observation. The geysers, mudd pots, hotsprings and steam vents are all examples
of the heat from molten rock of a volcano. For many years the Yellowstone volcano
could not be located. There is not obvious signs of a volcano, but scientists looked
for other clues. Rhyolite is present in a location that has pinetress and many
mosquitoes can be found due to the lakes that have formed. Rhyolite is a very
violent eruption, due to the high silica content, it flows slowly, like honey, and tends
to pile up and form lava
Gender Is The Reality Of Gender
We act as if that being of a man or that being of a woman is actually an internal
reality or something that is simply true about us, a fact about us, but actually it s a
phenomenon that is being produced all the time and reproduced all the time, so to
say gender is performative is to say that nobody really is a genderfrom the start.
(Judith Butler). Differences and opinions about genders are pointed out through most
of our precious time on this planet Earth and most of us are so used to this kind of
interaction with humans that it just becomes completely normal to us to hear about
all the time. When thinking about a man we imagine that gender showing a sign of
dominance, strength, and emotionless. When thinking about a woman we imagine
that gender showing a sign of nurturing, less dominant, and emotional. Because of
these stereotypical differences, this unfortunately leads to an inequality of some sort
that leads to segregation of tasks and disrespect between the two genders. The
argument here is that we re all the same but many people out there are too blind to
see it and they would much rather believe the myth rather than the truth. If this is the
case, what myths can be busted and show that both genders are really identical?
There is a ton of individual diversity within societies and sexes in regards to how sex
and gender play out in behavior and personality. But unfortunately, this concept is
confused with genders and sexes being the same thing when it really

from the early morning till sunset.
Generally, I arrive there at four in the morning, frogs croaking and fireflies dim in the

Her writings buttress the fact that although we all have different colours, we have
the same colour of blood running through our veins. In conclusion, these two

immigration and multicultural act sees immigrants as having all the rights and
privileges accorded to any white person. Next Emphasizing of Canadian social and
political history, the writing of Denise Chong and Joy Mannette shows that many
different groups and classes of people that constitute the Canadian society and the
help of individuals, have somehow influenced the history of Canada. From the
writing of Denise Chong, from The concubine s children , we can clearly observe
that Chinese were unwelcome in Canada to a degree where special taxes levied on
the Chinese for school and policing, employment, laundry, shoes, even cigars and
even bared from becoming naturalized citizens, from owning land, from working on
public works (56). Such opposition did not prevent the government to bring one
exception to the rule, claiming that the Chinese would work for much less, were
more reliable than the available white labour and many Chinese were assigned the
most dangerous job (57). Moreover, newspapers and politicians alike pandered to

Artemia Franciscana and Preference Regarding the Effects...
Introduction
The Artemia franciscana can survive in extreme conditions of salinity, water depth,
and temperature (Biology 108 laboratory manual, 2010), but do A. franciscana prefer
these conditions or do they simply cope with their surroundings? This experiment
explored the extent of the A. franciscanas preference towards three major stimuli:
light, temperature, and acidity. A. franciscana are able to endure extreme temperature
ranges from 6 МЉ C to 40 МЉ C, however since their optimal temperature for
breeding is about room temperature it can be inferred that the A. franciscana will
prefer this over other temperatures (Al Dhaheri and Drew, 2003). This is much the

Discussion
Referring to the experiment`s hypotheses that the A. franciscana prefers light,
temperatures between 20 24 МЉ C, and a basic (pH 8) environment; the results
regarding the first treatment, light, were initially vague. According to the experiment
results, the A. franciscana did not show a clear preference towards light or dark
because both sections contained high concentrations of them; the A. franciscana also
strayed from the uncovered section. Several factors may shed light on the results such
as the A. franciscanas physical appearance; they possess three light sensitive eyes that
can adjust to both low and high light intensities (Fox, 2001). This means that
although they may prefer light they can survive in darker habitats as well; relating
back to the experiment the A. franciscana may have been content with wherever they
were, resulting in limited movement.
For the temperature treatment, it was decisive in that the A. franciscana showed a
steady increase in concentration from section 1 to 4. This expands on the hypothesis
that suggests A. franciscana prefers an optimum temperature between 20 24 МЉ C
because from the results of the experiment A. franciscana seemed to prefer even
higher temperatures. Al Dhaheri and Drew (2003) state that A. franciscana stop
reproducing at temperature above 30 МЉ C and compared to the experiments results.
It can be concluded that A. franciscana prefer warmer temperatures, but reproduce at

Correctional Facilities Cost
The state correctional facilities cost an astronomical amount to operate. Most citizens
do not realize the daily cost associated with not only housing an inmate, but also the
operational expenses. Even with the high costs associated with operating a
correctional facility, most of the general public is immune to what it takes to house a
prisoner. Prisonis an expensive social tool. It s effectiveness and purpose are often
debated, but the fact that it is costly cannot be debated (Trout, 2011). So what are
some of the costs associated with housing an inmate?
Let us take a look at the cost in Tennessee. The State of Tennessee reports for the
fiscal year 2014 2015, there were a total of 19,845 offenders incarcerated in Tennessee
s adult institutions. This includes male and female inmates. The cost to house an ...

Then add in the separate cost to house offenders on death row and an additional
$7002.24 is added to the daily cost. This makes the total costs per day $1,457,740.78.
Now we factor in the yearly expense and the annual cost to house an offender is
$532,075,384.70. The costs associated with housing the offenders does not include
medical expenses. Compare the housing costs of an inmate to the total fiscal budget
for the Tennessee Department of Correction. The department s total operating budget
for Fiscal Year 2015 was $933,036,300 (FY 2015 Annual Report, 2015, Retrieved
from https://www.tn.gov/assets/entities/correction/attachments

Compare this to the cost to house an inmate in Ohio. For the Fiscal Year 2012, the
average cost to incarcerate an inmate in an Ohio prison was $24,870 per year, or
$68.14 per day. The Ohio Prison system has approximately 49,710 inmates. (Prison

Love can be very hurtful, painful, and stressful sometimes and some people really
need to know how to handle love. From my opinion love means to have the most
positive feelings for someone. Having feelings for someone is a good thing. People
do not understand the full meaning of love. The full meaning of loveis giving your all
and putting trust in someone that really love certain people. Some synonyms for love
are fondness, tenderness, warmth, intimacy.
The first synonym is fondness. Fondness means caring or having the feeling for
someone who are really attached to somebody. For example some people have a
fondness for their family. Another example is people have a fondness with their

you look at somebody. People has different opinions on how they use the word
tenderness. There are many different signs for tenderness as well but people just use
them in a different way.
The third synonym is warmth. Warmth means to be safe around somebody that
you trust or feel comfortable with being around. Some people say they have the
warmth with being around certain people. For example she spoke her mind with
great warmth. People use warmth in many different ways. Some people say that
they have warmth with their blankets. From my opinion what this word means to
me is being touch by somebody like you can feel their heart. Being able to feel their
heart is a good feeling to have. Warmth is a strong word to use for a relationship or

Even though the atmosphere rapidly changes density in the homosphere increasing
toward Earth s surface the blend (proportion) of gases is nearly uniform throughout
the homosphere. The stable mixture of gases comprising air in the homosphere
evolved slowly. The present proportion, which includes oxygen, evolved
approximately 500 million years ago.
5.The homosphere is a vast reservoir of relatively inert nitrogen, originating
principally from volcanic sources.Nitrogen is a key element of life, yet we exhale all
the nitrogen we inhale. The explanation for this contradiction is that nitrogen
integrates into our bodies not from the air we breathe but through compounds in
food.In the soil, nitrogen is bound to these compounds by nitrogen fixing bacteria,
and it returns to the atmosphere by denitrifying bacteria that remove nitrogen from
organic materials. The other main constituent gases are Oxygen, Argon and Carbon
dioxide.Although it forms about one fifth of the atmosphere, oxygen forms
compounds that forms half of Earth s crust
Atmospheric Temperature Criterion
Shifting to temperature as a criterion, the atmosphere has four distinct temperature

Creation, Rebellion, And Fall
The Bible contains sixty six books, written by approximately forty authors, over
the course of two thousand years. God created and loves humans despite their
rebellious attitude towards Him, and God wants to reunite humans to Himself
(Poythress, 2008). The Bible is a record of the sinful rebellion of humans and it
still declares God s love for humanity through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ.
This foundation prepares the way for Jesus Christ to fulfill God s entire promised
covenants. Creation, Rebellion, and Fall (4004 2234 BC) In six days God created
the universe, the earth, and every living thing on it. This includes human beings,
who were made in Gods own image. God created Adam and Eve to have an
unobstructed relationship with him, He placed them in a paradise called the
Garden of Eden and gave them freedom to live in friendship and trust with him.
God saw that everything he created was good and He rested on the seventh day
(Genesis 2:2). God left Adam and Eve in the garden with specific instructions: they
are NOT to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. However, they rebel
and sin enters the world after a serpent tricks Eve into questioning God s love and
motives. In her gullible innocence, she ate from the tree of knowledge of good and
evil (Genesis 3). Eve shared the fruit with Adam and they spiritually and physically
die. This was catastrophic to Gods Order and led to the condemnation of all human
beings (Roman 5:18). Immediately, they
Strategic Investment Decisions Involving Valuable
Business...
Valuation Questions
Question 1:
A strategic option is a valuation approach applied by firms when making strategic
investment decisions involving valuable business opportunities. The approach is
premised on the idea of remedying the shortcomings of DCF analysis model. This
approach allows firms to value investment opportunities by ascertaining on future
value benefits that a specific project would bring to firm, rather than looking at cash
flow. Strategic options enable the management to formulate strategic decisions to
inform on future opportunities that would be created through today s investments.
Possible future operations are valued using strategic options, as no cash flow is
analyzed, but rather analysis of opportunity for investing ... Show more content on

Thus, during valuation the firm must undertake strategic mapping on these elements
to select real investment project.
However, strategic option is subject to abuse particularly due to absence of any formal
valuation procedures. This means that strategic option can be highly politicized by
the management. In practice, this valuation approach is myopic and may lead firms
to undervaluing the future, and thus, to under invest by deferring viable investment
projects. Also, at times managers may use strategic options by inputting informal
procedures or personal bias by deliberately championing or defending certain
investment opportunities causing overinvestment.
Question 2:
Adjusted Present Value (APV) approach is an income based valuation method
employed as a variant to DCF tool, but does not use any WACC calculation. By
using APV method, one can ascertain enterprise value by separating out as well as
accounting for tax attributes of debts/borrowing and inherent incremental
bankruptcy risk associated with additional debt. During valuation, the APV
approach measures a firm s enterprise value (EV) as the value of a company devoid
of debt ( unlevered enterprise), plus prevent value of tax savings from company s
debt. Specifically, APV valuation estimates unleveraged cost of equity most often
using CAPM approach, expected cash flow of an
B Dubois Prejudice And Discrimination
W.E.B Dubois Prejudice and Discrimination
Since the beginning of history around the 1600 s slavery was common, and people
were used to pick crops and do other things their owners required of them. Slavery
lasted till around the late 1800 s when the 13th amendment was adopted and slavery
was abolished. In the 20th and 21st century is when African Americans were starting
to be treated as first class citizens. Today one of the most powerful men in the United
States is an African American; he holds the highest seat in office. He is the
commander and chief, President Obama. Over a century ago people would have
thought this to be impossible.
W.E.B Dubois was known for many things from a historian, novelist, journalist,
editor, political advocate and a sociologist (Horne). Dubois was known for his
writing and had novels anywhere from fiction to nonfiction. He served as a founder
and a principal operative of the National Association for the Advancement of
Colored People, and he was a leader of the council of African Affairs (Horne). Being
born a free man, but battling prejudice and discrimination Dubois did most of his
studies on being African American in a predominately white world. W.E.B Dubois
predicted that in the 20th century that the color line would become the foremost
problem (Horne). He also coined the term double consciousness in sociology.
The phrase color line was derived after the civil war where African Americans were
segregated from whites. In 1903

The Baroque Era
The Baroque era was a unique period in music that began during the 1600 s and
ended around 1750. The word baroque is define by Merriam s Collegiate Dictionary
as, of, relating to, or having the characteristics of a style of artistic expression
prevalent esp. in the 17th century that is marked generally by use of complex forms,
bold ornamentation, and the juxtaposition of contrasting elements often conveying a
sense of drama, movement, and tension. The word baroque has been used to indicate
paintings, poems, architecture, literature, and all else that is dynamic and astonishing.

Thomas church in Leipzig. This was a demanding job in which Bach composed
canatas for the St. Thomas and St. Nicholas churches, conduct the choirs, oversee
the musical activities of numerous municipal churches, and teach Latin in the St.
Thomas choir school. Bach remained at his post in Leipzig until his death in 1750.
Although he excelled his forbears and contemporaries, he did not receive the
respect he deserved until after his death. Bach is now regarded as one of the
greatest composers of all composers and is a source of inspiration for musicians.
While Bach s musical career centered around Germany, Antonio Vivaldiwas the son
of a professional violinist whose musical career cantered in Italy. Born on March 4,
1678, Vivaldi was a virtuoso violinist and composer whose works included over 500
concertos.
Vivaldi s output was enormous. It is said that he invented ritornello form. If he did
not invent this, he was the first to use this technique. In 1703, Vivaldi began an on
and off relationship with the Ospedale della Pieta, a home for the female offspring
of noblemen and their mistresses. Vivaldi remained working this post for much of
his life. He did, however, take leave to compose many of his famous operas such as
Ottone in villa, his first opera.
Baroque music symbolized a changing in the times. From the early period, when
Bach introduced his rich polyphonic concertos and excelled as a virtuoso organist and

Jerome Bromson Symbolism
Rationale
My book The Moves That Make The Man, was set in North Carolina. During this
time the civil rights movement was in full swing. The two main characters Braxton
Rivers and Jerome Foxworthy are best friends. In the book, they become better
friends every page turn. My project is a basketball with tape and symbols/pictures on
it. My project is extremely symbolic tho it doesn t look like much.
The tape stand symbolizes how Jerome and Braxton are keeping each other up. With
no Braxton, Jerome wouldn t be standing. Jerome has had many difficulties and Bix
[ Braxton], has helped all the way through. With no Jerome, Bix would never get the
training for his basketball match versus his stepfather. Jerome and Bix have a very

Perks Of Being A Wallflower Charlie Essay
The character Charlie in Stephen Chbosky s Perks of Being a Wallflower is an
interesting one. Charlie is influenced by many people, and the plot is driven by his
inner turmoil as a wallflower . One of his greatest influences is from his Aunt
Helen. Chbosky is able to paint a strong picture by using Aunt Helen, even though
she does not appear in his story at all. She can easily be credited as an underlying
drive for the book s plot. When Aunt Helen was younger, she was molested by a
friend of the family. She suffered through many trials throughout her life, but her
experiences with this man affected her the greatest. It is assumed (from scenes later
on in the book) that she might ve even molested Charlie when he was younger. She
abuses his quiet demeanor, and Charlie does not remember this at all. She was killed
in a car accident on christmas eve Charlie s 7th birthday, whilst getting a birthday
present for him. Learning about her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chbosky used the character of Helen quite intricately. It is rare that a character has
such strong influences from something if it is not actually there, even though this is
a fairly common thing in our everyday lives. He uses Helen to evoke depression in
Charlie, an already deep thinking and quiet character. We watch him slowly spiral
down, and he knows that it is not healthy to think the way he s thinking. Saying
things like, Something s really wrong with me. And I don t know what it is. (137)
throughout the story, getting more and more concentrated towards the end. Charlie
engages in spirals of thought, often leading in him to abandon some letters, I have to
stop doing this, I am getting to sad. (168) and his negative character development
begins to be the driving plotline of this story. His life is beginning to be rich with
situations, and it s becoming obvious that his inner turmoil is the cause of all of his
struggles. But what caused this inner
Russia after the Fall of the Soviet Union
After the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, the world watched Russia closely as the
largest country remaining from the former superpower built itself into a democracy.
However, within a short amount of time, Russia has slipped into competitive
authoritarianism, giving much of the governmental power to its current president,
Vladimir Putin. In contrast, another semi presidential system, the governmentof
France, is a strong democracy. France s government has been largely successful
since the creation of the Fifth Republic in 1958 and the most recent constitution. In
addition to this, the roles of the president and prime minister have been balanced and
checked since President Charles de Gaulle stepped down in 1969. These two
countries, while sharing the same basic political skeleton, are vastly different in
power division and, ultimately, the success of democracy. Unlike France, Russias
democracy slid into competitive authoritarianism because of the overpowering
amount of unchecked power the president has. Since the writing of the Russian
constitution in 1993, the presidency has been a concentration of power that has
ultimately led to the demolition of democracy in the country in contrast to France s
success. The basis of the president s power in each respective country is vastly
different: in the 1993 Russian constitution, the president s powers are multifarious, in
the French Fifth Republic constitution, the president does not directly govern (Cases,
O Neil, 162). Much
No More Boomerang By Oodgeroo Noonuccal
The poem No More Boomerang, written by Oodgeroo Noonuccal (Kath Walker)
provides many examples of contrast, showing how things of the old have been
replaced by the new, and rhyme, shown between the stanzas allowing for the
remembrance of the message more easily, to convey its message. An examples of
this is No more message stick, lubras and lads, Got television now, mostly ads. This
part of a stanza provides evidence that during the aboriginal times for entertainment
or pleasure they had message sticks, lubras and lads, whereas nowadays people have
television to use, mostly containing ads, for enjoyment. This is one examples that the
poems provides that illustrate for us how the times of the old is being replaced by
the new. The rhymeis
Data Analysis For The South Bronx
Data Analysis
The collected data will be analyzed using thematic data analysis. The data analysis
process will be to organize, code, categorize, and interpret. Each interview
transcript, observation field note, and police or school record will be uploaded
into Atlas.ti in order to store and manage the data, and later will be used to code
and categorize. Organizing and memoing the data are significant steps because they
encompass reading through, sorting, familiarizing with the material, making initial
codes, and, more generally, comprehending the collected data in order to create a
detailed description of the case (Creswell 2013, p. 101). The description will be
thorough, in depth, and will contextualize the case in the unique setting of the South
Bronx, thereby serving as a validation strategy (Alley 2016). The description serves
to depict the complexity of the case itself and allows the data to be analyzed
sequentially based on the actual progression of the case. The next step is to identify
emerging patterns, themes, similarities, and differences using categorical aggregation
(Creswell, 2013). The themes and patterns will be directly interpreted to develop
naturalistic generalizations of what was learned (Creswell 2013, p. 190). Direct
interpretation is a unique method for the case study approach because it focuses on
the information made explicit through the research and does not generalize beyond
the case (p. 101). Ultimately, the objective is to distill
Smoking Causes Premature Smoking
Imagine turning forty two years old then looking in the mirror and you look
double your age. This is what smoking cigarettes will do to you. This ad by
Nicotinell is trying to explain that smoking cigarettes will cause premature aging.
In this image, there is a lady celebrating her forty second birthday, but she doesn t
look forty two at all. She looks like a grandmother in her eighties. I found this
picture on Google Images while searching for PSA s. I decided to go with this
picture because it was really eye catching and very straight forward. This PSA targets
cigarettesmokers because the brand Nicotinell sells patches to stop nicotineaddiction.
It also says Smokingcauses premature aging on the PSA also. This PSA illustrates
a point by making it very obvious that smoking causes premature aging. This
imagine is important to me because my mother smokes cigarettes and I want to
show this paper to her when I am finished to hopefully get her to stop smoking
cigarettes! This image can be analyzed by looking at eight rhetorical factors:
character roles, setting, type of photo, distance from subject, orientation/camera
angle, use of color, point of view and image manipulation. First, character roles.
There is only one character is this PSA but she plays a major role in what they are
trying to say. She is a forty two year old lady that looks eighty years old. In this
picture, she is lighting her cigarette on the candle which is the number four. The other
candle is the number
Thin Red Line Analysis
Thin Red Line consisted of multiple narrators discussing the battle narrative and
varying characters perspectives especially in the sequences that we watched. We
are participating in the film during this war sequence with the camera often on a
track following behind the soldiers or with a Steadicam but the reality is a
handheld shot like we are running in the woods like a solider or we are following
the action. Other camera angles include single POV frames of soldiers and what
they are experiencing at that moment. Especially when the battle begins the
American soldiers have a heightened sense of sounds such as bullets whizzing by
their heads in the fog. These moments in the battle give a sense of fantasy
disembodiment and derangement for the soldiers during the chaos of the battle.
When the shots are firing there is a sense of chaos to the audience with the jump cut
shots that attempt to fill in the viewer of all the madness. There were multiple
single POV frames that would fill in the viewer of the soldier s reactions and facial
expressions after they were shot or shot at portraying the stress and anxiety during war
battles. Towards the end of the scene the camera angles consisted of American
soldiers looking down on the fallen and injured soldiers giving power to the white

Transportation is one of the most essential spheres of human s life in such aspects as
economic growth, communication, tourism, and utilization of space. Thence, it is
very important for it to have minimal effect on the environment, be safe, cheap,
comfortable, and fast in use. Conventional transport, such as trains and airplanes,
causes a number of problems including air pollution, high amounts of energy
consumption, huge need of maintenance, high prices, and risks of safety, thus not
being efficient enough. Therefore, new generation of transport must correspond to
definite requirements: be efficient, reliable, and environmentally sound. The

Moreover, according to Figure 2, the amount of CO2 increases with the rise of

demand for constant maintenance (Figure 1), such as periodic replacement of gear,
wheels, rails, etc., which may lead to huge financial expenses. Figure 1. Comparison

Air transport is constructed to be faster and more convenient than trains, however
there are also several burdens that are associated with airplanes. The most
important aircraft problem is vast fuel utilization European Commission 2009
indicates that airplanes have huge CO2 emission 51.5 gram per passenger
kilometer. In addition, serious risks of safety usually worry people, for instance,
there is a recent loss of Boeing 777 airplane with all the passengers, which is
usually considered to be very safe, and still cannot be found (Ranter 2014).
Airplanes are also very dependent on weather conditions, as can be seen on Figure

The close of the First World War gave a new twist to the labour policy, as it created
certain social, economic and political conditions that raised new hopes among the
people for a new social order. There was intense labour unrest because workers
earnings did not keep pace with the rise in prices and with their aspirations. The
constitutional developments in India led to the election of representatives to the
Central and Provincial legislatures who took a leading role in initiating social
legislation. The establishment of International Labour Organisation (ILO) in 1919
greatly influenced the labour legislation and industrial relations policy in India. The
emergence of trade unions in India, particularly the formation of All India Trade

industrial relations in our country. Second Phase: The policy after the First World

of labour problems in India, particularly the working conditions in the context of

Finally, the principle of justice is also applicable here....
Finally, the principle of justice is also applicable here. The Belmont Report
addresses the principle of justice in terms of who ought to receive the benefits of
research and bear its burdens. (Belmont Report, 1979). The benefit to society is
always the focus of justice in medical research, not the benefit to the subject. It
represents both aspects of utilitarianism, the benefit to society as a whole, as well as
egalitarianism, the notion that equals ought to be treated equally. An injustice occurs
when some burden is imposed unduly. It is important to insure that those who are
already burdened are not overburdened and the group participating in medical
research should receive the benefit of it. The selection of research subjects must be...

Justice is further illustrated in Grimes. Researchers used economically vulnerable
children as their subjects. The court concluded that the research was inappropriate
and unethical and emphasized the importance of ensuring the ethical treatment of
humans enrolled in research, especially members of vulnerable populations. So too,
Cincinnati represents a further discussion of vulnerable groups being taken
advantage of. In Cincinnati, cancer patients, who were primarily indigent, poorly
educated African Americans, were exposed to large doses of radiation. It is further
unjust because the purpose of the research was to benefit the military, not the
subjects. The tests were not conducted to determine the effect of radiation on persons
with cancer, but rather just the effect of radiation on humans in the event that
members of the military were exposed in a nuclear attack. The use of this already
burdened group without any rational relationship to the research being conducted was
entirely unjust especially when the population used was not the population intended
to receive the benefit. Finally, the notion of justice is also present in the Tuskegee
study. The research used disadvantaged, uneducated, rural men to study the untreated
course of a disease that is and was by no means confined to that population. The

Mental Health as described by LaVeist and Thomas (2005) is a state of successful
performance of mental function, resulting in productive activities, fulfilling
relationships with other people, and the ability to adapt to change and cope with
adversity (p. 84). Mental health functioning is important regarding a person s well

Culture bound syndromes as therefore comprised as several different illnesses and
afflictions. LaVeist and Thomas (2005) thoroughly expresses the dynamic nature of
culture bound syndromes when they state: The symptoms of mental disorders are
found in all nations and in all cultures; there are recognizable symptoms that are
common worldwide. Mental health researchers have not yet been able to determine
whether culture bound syndromes are indicative of one or more possibilities that
include distinct disorders that exist only in specific cultures, and reflect different
ways in which individuals from different cultures express mental illness, as well as
reflecting different ways in which the social and cultural environment interact with
genes to produce disorders, or any combination of these. (pp. 101) With the
following information in mind, it should be noted that not all disorders are
considered pathological; some behaviors are seen as ways of expressing and
communicating distress to members of a certain culture and are seen as culturally
accepted responses (APA, 1994). In fact, cultures experience, express, and cope with
feelings of distress in various ways that may counter what Western societies see as
common. Furthermore, at times these cultural differences are
LGBTQ Argument Essay
The LGBTQ community has been advocating changes in systems and processes.
Most of them coming from the treatment and equality in the workplace and
environment they are in.
The LGBTQ made it to the news several times in 2016. Gay and transgender rights
seem to be the topic of each issue in the news and social media. But there are still
issues that needed to be addressed.
Today, LGBTQ still face discrimination especially in employment and education, as
reported by NBC News. Regardless, there are groups fighting to change the laws and
policies in order to protect the LGBTQ.
In the face of violence and discrimination, the LGBTQ community was able to shed
light over North Carolina s law restricting bathroom access for transgender people in
government buildings and various public schools. In March 2016, North Carolina
was the only state to require transgender individuals to use public restrooms that ...

In 2016, the use of bathrooms by the LGBTQ has been a recurring issue. Now, after
the November elections, North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory has conceded and
many are looking at a change in the bill on public bathrooms.
Many hope that this will promote a better working and studying environment for
many transgender individuals in colleges, universities and workplaces. Although
various concerns dictate the case of privacy and security, the other side of the coin
breathes the insensitivity and discrimination towards the LGBTQ.
The film industry made it a point to shed light on LGBTQ, too. From The Danish
Girl, Orange is the New Black to The Imitation Game. These popular shows and
movies detail the challenges gays and transgenders go through and the roles they play.
And many hope that these films and shows can influence the acceptance of LGBTQ.
The question remains, what will 2017 hold for the
Niggaz With Attitude
N.W.A. (Niggaz With Attitude) emerged in Compton, California, they were a hip
hop based group that was widely considered as one of the seminal acts of the
gangster rap sub genre of hip hop. The group was active from 1986 to 1991 and
endured controversy due to their explicit nature of their lyrics (6). The things they
said in their music was of a shocker to society or mostly to their white listeners.
These explicit lyrics were not supposed to be said out loud in public, let alone in
music. During their time, they were banned from many mainstream U.S. radio
stations, prevented from touring, and faced obstacles from the police (6). N.W.A.
originally consisted of artists Eazy E, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, DJ Yella, and
Arabian Prince. With Arabian... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Fuck tha Police released it developed a media storm, which resulted in a
warning letter from the FBI to the group s distributor, Priority Records (1). This
song was a protest targeted at the Los Angeles police. Protesting police brutality
and racial profiling. The song itself expressed the approval of violence against
police. The songs main vocals were Ice Cube, Eazy E, and MC Ren. With Dr. Dre,
Ice Cube, and The D.O.C. doing the intro. The rest of the group, except DJ Yella,
incorporated 3 skits throughout the song with a cop being added to these skits. The
hook in itself, explicitly repeats Fuck tha police!, as the song is titled. This song is a
part of their album Straight Outta Compton. This song tells about the case of N.W.A.
versus the police department and Ice Cube testifying first, which is the group rapping
the testimony. The testimony; song, tells about racial profiling towards the group and
the police having the authority to do what they please to them. They go through
searches and beatings from the police. With MC Ren testifying next about his
experience. Telling about the white majority having power over the rest, using
violence against the police, and not caring anymore. Then finally ending with Eazy E
and his testimony. Which tells about him being exhausted of the treatment they
receive and saying the police is
Red Grooms Model For The Fox Trot Carousel
The museum had an ample amount of artwork on display, in addition to the
permanent collection, the museum offered three special art exhibits. I must admit
I had not visited a museum for quite some time and I appreciated the entire display
of artwork. The first area I entered composed of one single display, Red Grooms
Model for the Fox Trot Carousel. Next, I observed Hassan Hajjaj: My Rock Stars
which contained several artwork of people with instruments. Finally, I entered the
exhibit that contained Veda Reed s Day into the Night. Immediately, I fell in love
with this display of artwork, particularly Day into Night, Lunar Halo, and Daybreak.
Firstly, the Day into Night, 2015 oil on canvas painting appears to seize the sun
setting amid smoky gray clouds. With this in mind, the uppermost segment of the
painting appears to immerse in a blue tinted background. Moreover, the artist utilized
a variety of implied lines along with the smoky... Show more content on

Hence, the overall background presents in predominantly dark colors. The left side of
the painting seems to partake in an atmospheric perspective that insinuates a
mountain of clouds. On the other hand, the right side of the painting appears
predominately plain with a geometric shaped moon sitting atop with implied light
shining through the middle. Whilst, in the lower portion of the artwork one can
barely recognize the fading images of the clouds. All things considered I would imply
that the light/dark value of the moon aid this artwork in the distinctive characteristic

The Trojan Women ( 1971 )
The movie The Trojan Women (1971) is a successful and compelling contemporary
adaption of the tragedy The Trojan Women, written by Euripides. Overall, the film
follows the whole plot very well and depicts the main characters of Euripides work
expressly, especially characters like Cassandra, Andromache, and Helen. Although the
director of the film has made a few slight alterations, audience can feel Trojan women
s grief and pain and comprehend the plot with no trouble.
The film and the ancient play have some minor disparities. First, in the beginning,
the play starts with the conversation between Poseidon and Athena. Poseidon
describes the aftermath of the war and the bleak scene, giving out a background
story. Then, Athena has changed her mind and switched to the Trojan side. In
contract, there is no god involved and appeared in the movie. Poseidon s and Athena
s role is taken by a narrator. The scene of women being pushed is enough to show to
the audience the background. Second, the chorus only sings once in the film, mostly
just speaking, while the chorus in the play sings in between every act. The chorus is
used to switch to the next act and to tell the background. However, the film is quite
fluent without excess singings of the chorus, because the movie is easy to change the
location, time, and setting smoothly. Small changes like these two parts do not affect
the big picture.
Instead of these small changes, characters like Cassandra, Andromache, and Helen in
the film,

Starbucks business is to generate income based on operating activities. When
referencing the Statement of Cash Flows and looking at their operating activities, you
can see that Starbucks generates $2,908.3M in net cash provided by operating
activities. Investment is a significant item in this statement as well. The company
spent $785.9M in investments in the year ending September 29th, 2013. Strong
investment activities show that Starbucks is investing through buying and selling
(Sales, maturities, and calls of investments $1,040.2M) and using their spare cash to
invigorate future growth and fund future obligations. There is also heavy investment
in property, plant, and equipment with additions totaling $1,151.2M. This type of
investment show us that Starbucks is focused on expansion using cash from
operations. They have a significant amount of cash coming in from operations, and
money going out in PP E. The analyst should not be concerned that Starbucks is
borrowing money for negative reasons, and they are looking very strong from an
operating and investing standpoint. They are effectively earning income and turning
it into cash. ________________________________________ b) Commonly prepared

We have conducted 4 chemical tests to figure out how to improve our King s

creek and the pond so that we can see how it affects the physical, chemical and
biological characteristics of the water. We furthermore calculated the turbidity of the
water to find the muddiness caused by dirt, plants and animals matters floating in the
water. Additionally, we have conducted this experiment to find the pH of the water.

We have noticed that pond was warmer than the top area of the creek. This is
because the top area of the creek is covered by multiple trees which doesn t allow
the sunlight to shine against the water. The average turbidity of the top area of the
creek is 16. The average turbidity of the pond is 6.666666667. This could be
improved by removing the litter students or people throw in the water. The litter
can be eaten by creatures living and most importantly turtles can eat plastic which
could kill them. Filtering the water may harm some creatures since they live in a
ecosystem with no filtered water. The average pH of the top area of the creek is
6.2 and the pond is 6.333333333. According to the result ranges, the King s
Christian College Creek is in an excellent pH condition. This could be preserved by
just keeping it the same way as now. The dissolved oxygen of the top creek is 4 and

Because each hemisphere has properties associated with it, this information is
extremely relevant to the advertising industry. In what academia has denoted as the
modern era, the reader (those to whom the advertisement is directed) was seen as a
passive unbiased entity. The postmodern view, however, sees the reader as an active
part of the communication triad (figure 1) (Stern; Holbrook, 1994).
This means that the reader actively contributes to the exchange of information. If
different readers interpret the text (the ad) differently, the author (advertiser) needs to
create a text that will be interpreted the correct way by a specific reader. Knowing
how women think allows the advertisers to create ads that women will interpret in a
positive way, therefore increasing their likelihood to buy the product. Women depend
on the left hemisphere, which responds better to audio stimuli. Practically, this means
women respond in a positive manner to sounds. Television and magazine medium
reach more of the female population than radio. This means several things. First, for
women, information should be written or spoken whenever possible. Also, the ad
industry has come up with many techniques to increase the effect of visual ads. The
left hemisphere breaks visual images up into parts while the right sees images more
holistically. This means that ads for women should be more detailed and provide
more complete information (Prakash, 1992). Women (because of their

The ring tones firms, which enables people to listen to popular music is at the

industry resulting from the use of a mobile phone.
Minor firms now market cell phone games as well as video content aimed
specifically to be watched on cell phones. Additionally, other creative functions have
arisen, such as text messaging, short messages service (SMS) , as well as fake

Despite the presence of moderately small screen sizes, majority of the people in
America have started watching TV on their cell phones, this is to distance
themselves from the wrong or jam packed situations and also prioritize their

The Things I Regret Most For A Short Story
Most people either regret a lot of things or very few things. Some might regret
something as little as what they ate for lunch that gave them food poisoning or
something as big as not visiting your grandma before she passed away. I regret one
very big thing.
The thing I regret most was about my first dog, Brody, who was only thirteen when
he passed away. I regret not giving him all the love and attention he deserved. I
regret not helping him with the problems he had. If I could go back in time and love
him like I should have, I would.
A week before Brody died, I thought to myself that I should groom him and make
him beautiful: brush his fur, cut his claws, and cut off the matted pieces of fur that
got tangled up because he drooled. I never got around to it though because I was
always too busy . Brody was a gorgeous Great Pyrenees and had the heart made of
pure kindness. His fur was as soft as cotton candy and the color of vanilla with a
couple splotches of chocolate. When you pet him, your hand would disappear due to
his long hair. We would use berry and coconut scented dog shampoo so he would
never give off that awful stench that other dogs had. His eyes were as dark and as
shiny as the night and around the pupil was the slightest gold that you would miss if
you did not know it was there.
I remember that my dad and I would go on walks and take Brody with us, or
sometimes I would walk him around the yard by myself. My

Cyber Bullying And Social Media
Bullying and Social Media Virtual harassment is a common and growing
occurrence, and offline intimidation has continually been and remains to be a
problem. Bullying of all kinds peaks in Middle School and in greatest cases spills
off by College age, when scholars are more self regulating and more developed.
Shortage of organization amongst school staff, parents and scholars make cyber and
offline bullyinga constant risk to young people s assurance and well being. The
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services delivers a much briefer yet wider
meaning of the term: Cyber bullying is bullying that takes place using electronic
technology. It goes on to clarify precisely what is intended by electronic
technology as well as gives a very decent impression of the matter, as well as ideas
for action. Much of the government s distress is that bullying, in overall,
frequently includes illegal or criminal behavior. Bullying is unwanted, violent
behavior amongst school aged children that includes a real or apparent power
imbalance. According to Graham (2014), The behavior is often repeated and
habitual. One essential prerequisite is the perception, by the bully or by others, of
an imbalance of social or physical power, which distinguishes bullying from
conflict. (p. 159). According to Bishop (2014), Cyberbullying can be seen as being
distinct from other forms of online behaviour. Some see cyber bullying as a form of
Cyberstalking, which involves taking a more strategic

  • 2. Product Differentiation and Market Segmentation in Applesauce Product Differentiation and Market Segmentation in Applesauce: Using a Choice Experiment to Assess the Value of Organic, Local, and Nutrition Attributes Jennifer S. James, Bradley J. Rickard, William J. Rossman Recently, there has been much interest among horticultural producers concerning the marketing of organic and locally produced food. A consumer survey was administered that asked respondents to choose an applesauce product from a list of products differentiated by price, and by labels that described fat content, nutrition content, and whether the product was grown organically and/or locally. Our analysis indicates that consumers were willing to pay more for locally grown applesauce compared to applesauce that was labeled USDA ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The four attributes were USDA Organic, PA Preferred, No Sugar Added, and Low Fat. This study examines consumer preferences for these applesauce attributes as a way of evaluating strategies for differentiating products made from Pennsylvania apples. Previous work has examined consumer demand for food products in niche markets, and several studies have assessed consumers WTP for product attributes including organic, locally grown, and various nutritional claims.1 Much work has been completed that examines consumer demand for organic and local attributes in fresh produce, milk, and meat products; yet relatively little research has examined these issues for processed fruit and vegetable products. Furthermore, we include choices that allow consumers to consider organic, local, and nutrition attributes in one choice experiment so that consumer valuation of these attributes can be compared directly for applesauce. Following earlier research, our survey was used to collect detailed demographic information about the respondents that was incorporated into the analysis. As a result, estimates of consumer WTP for applesauce attributes are reported for consumer market segments, and the differences among those segments are examined. Consumer Response to Labels Placed on Food Products December 2009 Understanding how consumers respond to food labels is an area of research that has attracted much attention recently.

  • 4. Purdah Poem By Imtiaz Dharker The poem Purdah by Imtiaz Dharker, shows how women who practice purdah feel helplessly trapped when deciding whether to follow purdah, society s demands, or their own heart. Purdah is a practice for women where they live hidden away from men and other strangers. It is supposedly a means of safety. In the poem, a girl suddenly experiences a turning point in her life when she gets more aware of what society expects of her and how practicing purdah limits her. In today s society, purdah challenges a womans dignity and is degrading. Women who follow the strict practices of purdah feel restricted. In the first stanza, it shows how the amount of time that she has been hidden away from the outside world affects her. She comes out of hiding because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most women who practice purdah have been born into a family that has kept the tradition throughout the generations. They can not disappoint their families. In the fifth stanza, it shows how great it feels for these women to rebel a little. When they come out of hiding, a light filters inward through their bodies walls (21 22). This metaphor describes how when they show themselves to the outside world, it is as if a light washes over them and they say goodbye to the darkness they are always in. This metaphor gives such a vivid image of how good it feels for them to release themselves. Another place where the word inward is used is the last few sentences, passing constantly out of her own hands, into the corner of someone else s eyes... while the doors keep opening inward and again inward (33 37). When inward is used here, it is a negative tone, because it contradicts itself. Doors are supposed to open outward, to let someone out, free them. Instead in the metaphor, the doors only open inward, meaning the individual is trapped inside. The repetition of the word inward is interesting because it is used multiple times and are used in two different tones. The poet also chooses to use another metaphor that applies to our hearing sense, voices speak inside us, echoing in the places we have just left (23 24). This metaphor is so descriptive, the reader can almost hear the voices echoing. The voices are memories of the women, and are linked to certain places they have been. It basically says how intense the memory is and how one look at the world around them affects them strongly. Women practicing purdah want to follow their heart, but also are pressured by wanting to keep traditions alive, and society s
  • 5. The Case Of Marks And Spencer Change Management Issue: The case of Marks and Spencer Introduction Marks Spencer is founded by Michael Marks and Thomas Spencer. Since starting in 1884 by selling clothes for men and women, the company has grown in the UK and soon in the rest of the world they experienced tremendous market strength and even expanded their items from food, wine, beverages and household items. In the 19th century they expanded to more than 1,250 stores in the UK and major cities in different countries worldwide. It also gained more than 85,000 employees during this decade. In the mid of the 19th century, however, it is challenged by the competition that weakened their clothing and fashion for men and women, their popularity began to subside. The management is challenged by external and internal factors where even their employees suffered from low motivation because of fear of losing their job. There are also branches and shops that need to be close because of the week sales. Although until today, the company is an accepted organization because of their good reputation, it is obvious that the company struggle in the retail industry with the competition including Debenhams, Primark, Zara, H M and other popular fashion organization. Some critics and market experts even believe that company has no place in today s modern industry (Ruddick, 2015). Management does not give up easily, they identified that change management is the issue and came up with solutions to overcome these problems.
  • 6. Audacious Euphony Reflection The first time I learned about the ideas similar to sum class was when I read Richard Cohn s Audacious Euphony, and I was fascinated by how much information about voice leading can be facilitated by just summing up the pitch class collection. I am excited to read this paper, which extends the discussion from diatonic triads and tetrachords to more set classes, and how much of the similar voice leading properties are retained. There are, however, multiple questions that I am not sure about the spaces created in the paper, as well as those by Tymoczko and many others, in terms of its musical value. I am also not sure about the use of the pitch class clockfaces and the current representation of pitch center of balance, and I wonder if there is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I found the idea of relating the set classes of the same sum through pure contrary voice leading very useful and neat. The tetrahedron shown on p. 36 is very interesting in terms of geometrical properties. However, the tetrachords with doubling tetrahedron is somewhat artificial to me. The geometrical neatness is facilitated by the multiset (0112), but outside the vertices, each tetrachord can only link to one/two tetrachords of the same nature through the same motion. Similarly in the tetrahedron B, the tetrachord that enables the geometry to happen is (0134). I wonder how we can find out such pivotal set classes when we construct such spaces. In the case of the space in trichords, I really curious about the cases when we are dealing with odd sum classes. I am fascinated by the fact that the axis of symmetry is between two rows of 6 trichords (like p. 21) while that of an even sum class only contains one row of 6 trichords that is the also axis of symmetry. Other than figuring out the pitch center of balance through the clockface or arithmetical means, would there be some kind of geometrical significance? There are a lot of interesting geometrical features in the examples and I really want to see more in depth relationship between the pitches and the patterns I am looking

There are approximately 937 cities in the united states that has some sort of a Breed Restriction legislation. To me this is absurd! People are getting these dogs and are training them to fight. It s so wrong. Pit bulls are so discriminated against now because how people are training these dogs to fight. Every time I hear about a dogfight or seeing a pit bullchained up makes me really upset. I m tired of it. How would those people feel if they were treated like that? I personally love Pit bulls, but some people don t. I personally own a brindle pit bull named Boosie. I always say how a dog turns out depends on their owner. I had my dog ever since he was a puppy, and I raised him very well. He s so sweet and loving. I don t see how people would want to ban pit bulls? Pit bulls have a lot of history. Pit bulls been bred for human companionship, and since the 1900s, they have been bred for conformation showing as well. Pit bulls have been used as farm dogs, family dogs, military mascots, and all purpose companions. In England, the Staffie Bull is known as the The Nanny Dog or The Children s Nursemaid because of their placid and nurturing demeanor toward children. The average height of an eruption is 145. There is evidence of many other geysers on thw floorof Yellowstone lake, and have been doing so approximately 1300 years ago. The Yellowstone volcano is very active volcanic system which requires much observation. The geysers, mudd pots, hotsprings and steam vents are all examples of the heat from molten rock of a volcano. For many years the Yellowstone volcano could not be located. There is not obvious signs of a volcano, but scientists looked for other clues. Rhyolite is present in a location that has pinetress and many mosquitoes can be found due to the lakes that have formed. Rhyolite is a very violent eruption, due to the high silica content, it flows slowly, like honey, and tends to pile up and form lava

Gender Is The Reality Of Gender We act as if that being of a man or that being of a woman is actually an internal reality or something that is simply true about us, a fact about us, but actually it s a phenomenon that is being produced all the time and reproduced all the time, so to say gender is performative is to say that nobody really is a genderfrom the start. (Judith Butler). Differences and opinions about genders are pointed out through most of our precious time on this planet Earth and most of us are so used to this kind of interaction with humans that it just becomes completely normal to us to hear about all the time. When thinking about a man we imagine that gender showing a sign of dominance, strength, and emotionless. When thinking about a woman we imagine that gender showing a sign of nurturing, less dominant, and emotional. Because of these stereotypical differences, this unfortunately leads to an inequality of some sort that leads to segregation of tasks and disrespect between the two genders. The argument here is that we re all the same but many people out there are too blind to see it and they would much rather believe the myth rather than the truth. If this is the case, what myths can be busted and show that both genders are really identical? There is a ton of individual diversity within societies and sexes in regards to how sex and gender play out in behavior and personality. But unfortunately, this concept is confused with genders and sexes being the same thing when it really

Garner State Park Research Paper I first went to Garner State Park when I was thirteen years of age, I had never heard of that place before, but my neighbors from across the street had invited me for the weekend. Ever since I visited, it became one of my favorite places to attend to; I have yet to find someone who doesn t find that park beautiful. I did a vast number of things which were all genuinely enjoyable; everything was done at the perfect time from the early morning till sunset. Generally, I arrive there at four in the morning, frogs croaking and fireflies dim in the distance, the sun is still hours from rising but I am ready to take on the day. Sure enough the sun is out and we get ready to go in; as I unload I can t help but look around and admire all the beauty that surrounds me. Both authors Joy Mannette and Denise Chong have written different articles about racism and discrimination .First article My Dearest Child is written by Joy Mannette and the other one The Concubine s Children is written by Denise Chong. Both of these articles reflected how the black and Chinese immigrants suffered in Canada in 17th and 19th century. But now as we all know Canada is a multicultural country. Her writings buttress the fact that although we all have different colours, we have the same colour of blood running through our veins. In conclusion, these two authors, looking back now to what has become of Canada would be happy at the transformation that has taken place between then and now. The points system in place now is based not on your country of origin but on your skills. The immigration and multicultural act sees immigrants as having all the rights and privileges accorded to any white person. Next Emphasizing of Canadian social and political history, the writing of Denise Chong and Joy Mannette shows that many different groups and classes of people that constitute the Canadian society and the help of individuals, have somehow influenced the history of Canada. From the writing of Denise Chong, from The concubine s children , we can clearly observe that Chinese were unwelcome in Canada to a degree where special taxes levied on the Chinese for school and policing, employment, laundry, shoes, even cigars and even bared from becoming naturalized citizens, from owning land, from working on public works (56). Such opposition did not prevent the government to bring one exception to the rule, claiming that the Chinese would work for much less, were more reliable than the available white labour and many Chinese were assigned the most dangerous job (57). Moreover, newspapers and politicians alike pandered to public

Introduction The Artemia franciscana can survive in extreme conditions of salinity, water depth, and temperature (Biology 108 laboratory manual, 2010), but do A. franciscana prefer these conditions or do they simply cope with their surroundings? This experiment explored the extent of the A. franciscanas preference towards three major stimuli: light, temperature, and acidity. A. franciscana are able to endure extreme temperature ranges from 6 МЉ C to 40 МЉ C, however since their optimal temperature for breeding is about room temperature it can be inferred that the A. franciscana will prefer this over other temperatures (Al Dhaheri and Drew, 2003). This is much the same in regards to acidity as Artemia franciscana, in general thrive in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Discussion Referring to the experiment`s hypotheses that the A. franciscana prefers light, temperatures between 20 24 МЉ C, and a basic (pH 8) environment; the results regarding the first treatment, light, were initially vague. According to the experiment results, the A. franciscana did not show a clear preference towards light or dark because both sections contained high concentrations of them; the A. franciscana also strayed from the uncovered section. Several factors may shed light on the results such as the A. franciscanas physical appearance; they possess three light sensitive eyes that can adjust to both low and high light intensities (Fox, 2001). This means that although they may prefer light they can survive in darker habitats as well; relating back to the experiment the A. franciscana may have been content with wherever they were, resulting in limited movement. For the temperature treatment, it was decisive in that the A. franciscana showed a steady increase in concentration from section 1 to 4. Most citizens do not realize the daily cost associated with not only housing an inmate, but also the operational expenses. Even with the high costs associated with operating a correctional facility, most of the general public is immune to what it takes to house a prisoner. Prisonis an expensive social tool. It s effectiveness and purpose are often debated, but the fact that it is costly cannot be debated (Trout, 2011). So what are some of the costs associated with housing an inmate? Let us take a look at the cost in Tennessee. The State of Tennessee reports for the fiscal year 2014 2015, there were a total of 19,845 offenders incarcerated in Tennessee s adult institutions. God created and loves humans despite their rebellious attitude towards Him, and God wants to reunite humans to Himself (Poythress, 2008). The Bible is a record of the sinful rebellion of humans and it still declares God s love for humanity through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ. This foundation prepares the way for Jesus Christ to fulfill God s entire promised covenants. Creation, Rebellion, and Fall (4004 2234 BC) In six days God created the universe, the earth, and every living thing on it. This includes human beings, who were made in Gods own image. God created Adam and Eve to have an unobstructed relationship with him, He placed them in a paradise called the Garden of Eden and gave them freedom to live in friendship and trust with him. God saw that everything he created was good and He rested on the seventh day (Genesis 2:2). Valuation Questions Question 1: A strategic option is a valuation approach applied by firms when making strategic investment decisions involving valuable business opportunities. The approach is premised on the idea of remedying the shortcomings of DCF analysis model. This approach allows firms to value investment opportunities by ascertaining on future value benefits that a specific project would bring to firm, rather than looking at cash flow. Strategic options enable the management to formulate strategic decisions to inform on future opportunities that would be created through today s investments. Possible future operations are valued using strategic options, as no cash flow is analyzed, but rather analysis of opportunity for investing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, during valuation the firm must undertake strategic mapping on these elements to select real investment project. However, strategic option is subject to abuse particularly due to absence of any formal valuation procedures. This means that strategic option can be highly politicized by the management. In practice, this valuation approach is myopic and may lead firms to undervaluing the future, and thus, to under invest by deferring viable investment projects. Also, at times managers may use strategic options by inputting informal procedures or personal bias by deliberately championing or defending certain investment opportunities causing overinvestment. Question 2: Adjusted Present Value (APV) approach is an income based valuation method employed as a variant to DCF tool, but does not use any WACC calculation. By using APV method, one can ascertain enterprise value by separating out as well as accounting for tax attributes of debts/borrowing and inherent incremental bankruptcy risk associated with additional debt. During valuation, the APV approach measures a firm s enterprise value (EV) as the value of a company devoid of debt ( unlevered enterprise), plus prevent value of tax savings from company s debt. Specifically, APV valuation estimates unleveraged cost of equity most often using CAPM approach, expected cash flow of an

However, within a short amount of time, Russia has slipped into competitive authoritarianism, giving much of the governmental power to its current president, Vladimir Putin. In contrast, another semi presidential system, the governmentof France, is a strong democracy. France s government has been largely successful since the creation of the Fifth Republic in 1958 and the most recent constitution. In addition to this, the roles of the president and prime minister have been balanced and checked since President Charles de Gaulle stepped down in 1969. These two countries, while sharing the same basic political skeleton, are vastly different in power division and, ultimately, the success of democracy. Unlike France, Russias democracy slid into competitive authoritarianism because of the overpowering amount of unchecked power the president has. Since the writing of the Russian constitution in 1993, the presidency has been a concentration of power that has ultimately led to the demolition of democracy in the country in contrast to France s success. The basis of the president s power in each respective country is vastly different: in the 1993 Russian constitution, the president s powers are multifarious, in the French Fifth Republic constitution, the president does not directly govern (Cases, O Neil, 162). The data analysis process will be to organize, code, categorize, and interpret. Each interview transcript, observation field note, and police or school record will be uploaded into Atlas.ti in order to store and manage the data, and later will be used to code and categorize. Organizing and memoing the data are significant steps because they encompass reading through, sorting, familiarizing with the material, making initial codes, and, more generally, comprehending the collected data in order to create a detailed description of the case (Creswell 2013, p. 101). The description will be thorough, in depth, and will contextualize the case in the unique setting of the South Bronx, thereby serving as a validation strategy (Alley 2016). The description serves to depict the complexity of the case itself and allows the data to be analyzed sequentially based on the actual progression of the case. The next step is to identify emerging patterns, themes, similarities, and differences using categorical aggregation (Creswell, 2013). The themes and patterns will be directly interpreted to develop naturalistic generalizations of what was learned (Creswell 2013, p. 190). Direct interpretation is a unique method for the case study approach because it focuses on the information made explicit through the research and does not generalize beyond the case (p. 101). There was intense labour unrest because workers earnings did not keep pace with the rise in prices and with their aspirations. The constitutional developments in India led to the election of representatives to the Central and Provincial legislatures who took a leading role in initiating social legislation. The establishment of International Labour Organisation (ILO) in 1919 greatly influenced the labour legislation and industrial relations policy in India. The emergence of trade unions in India, particularly the formation of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) in 1920 was another significant event in the history of industrial relations in our country. Second Phase: The policy after the First World War related to improvement in the working conditions and provision of social security benefits. During the two decades following the war, a number of laws were enacted for the implementation of the above policy. The Trade Disputes Act, 1929 sought to provide a conciliation machinery to bring about peaceful settlement of disputes. The Belmont Report addresses the principle of justice in terms of who ought to receive the benefits of research and bear its burdens. (Belmont Report, 1979). The benefit to society is always the focus of justice in medical research, not the benefit to the subject. It represents both aspects of utilitarianism, the benefit to society as a whole, as well as egalitarianism, the notion that equals ought to be treated equally. The court concluded that the research was inappropriate and unethical and emphasized the importance of ensuring the ethical treatment of humans enrolled in research, especially members of vulnerable populations. So too, Cincinnati represents a further discussion of vulnerable groups being taken advantage of. In Cincinnati, cancer patients, who were primarily indigent, poorly educated African Americans, were exposed to large doses of radiation. It is further unjust because the purpose of the research was to benefit the military, not the subjects. The tests were not conducted to determine the effect of radiation on persons with cancer, but rather just the effect of radiation on humans in the event that members of the military were exposed in a nuclear attack. The use of this already burdened group without any rational relationship to the research being conducted was entirely unjust especially when the population used was not the population intended to receive the benefit. Overall, the film follows the whole plot very well and depicts the main characters of Euripides work expressly, especially characters like Cassandra, Andromache, and Helen. Although the director of the film has made a few slight alterations, audience can feel Trojan women s grief and pain and comprehend the plot with no trouble. The film and the ancient play have some minor disparities. First, in the beginning, the play starts with the conversation between Poseidon and Athena. Poseidon describes the aftermath of the war and the bleak scene, giving out a background story. Then, Athena has changed her mind and switched to the Trojan side. In contract, there is no god involved and appeared in the movie. Poseidon s and Athena s role is taken by a narrator. The scene of women being pushed is enough to show to the audience the background. Second, the chorus only sings once in the film, mostly just speaking, while the chorus in the play sings in between every act. The chorus is used to switch to the next act and to tell the background. However, the film is quite fluent without excess singings of the chorus, because the movie is easy to change the location, time, and setting smoothly. Small changes like these two parts do not affect the big picture. Instead of these small changes, characters like Cassandra, Andromache, and Helen in the film,

In what academia has denoted as the modern era, the reader (those to whom the advertisement is directed) was seen as a passive unbiased entity. The postmodern view, however, sees the reader as an active part of the communication triad (figure 1) (Stern; Holbrook, 1994). This means that the reader actively contributes to the exchange of information. If different readers interpret the text (the ad) differently, the author (advertiser) needs to create a text that will be interpreted the correct way by a specific reader. Knowing how women think allows the advertisers to create ads that women will interpret in a positive way, therefore increasing their likelihood to buy the product. The thing I regret most was about my first dog, Brody, who was only thirteen when he passed away. I regret not giving him all the love and attention he deserved. I regret not helping him with the problems he had. If I could go back in time and love him like I should have, I would. A week before Brody died, I thought to myself that I should groom him and make him beautiful: brush his fur, cut his claws, and cut off the matted pieces of fur that got tangled up because he drooled. I never got around to it though because I was always too busy . Brody was a gorgeous Great Pyrenees and had the heart made of pure kindness. His fur was as soft as cotton candy and the color of vanilla with a couple splotches of chocolate. When you pet him, your hand would disappear due to his long hair. We would use berry and coconut scented dog shampoo so he would never give off that awful stench that other dogs had. Shortage of organization amongst school staff, parents and scholars make cyber and offline bullyinga constant risk to young people s assurance and well being. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services delivers a much briefer yet wider meaning of the term: Cyber bullying is bullying that takes place using electronic technology. It goes on to clarify precisely what is intended by electronic technology as well as gives a very decent impression of the matter, as well as ideas for action. Much of the government s distress is that bullying, in overall, frequently includes illegal or criminal behavior. Bullying is unwanted, violent behavior amongst school aged children that includes a real or apparent power imbalance. According to Graham (2014), The behavior is often repeated and habitual. One essential prerequisite is the perception, by the bully or by others, of an imbalance of social or physical power, which distinguishes bullying from conflict. (p. 159). According to Bishop (2014), Cyberbullying can be seen as being distinct from other forms of online behaviour. Some see cyber bullying as a form of Cyberstalking, which involves taking a more strategic
