The Logistic Involvement and Support to the Project
(1) Setting up of a 20,000 sqft factory space for the local
fabrication of the Aluminium Curtain wall to benefit from
15% to 30% custom’s duty on imports.
(2) Implement a Procurement planning for all materials from
South Africa suppliers.
(3) Establish a proper protocol for the implementation of a
Quality Control Plan for the manufacturing of the Unitized
Curtainwall panels with a target of 0% tolerance error.
(4) Organize a proper Site Management Team for the onsite
installation of the Curtainwall and associated works
following the PPE safety standards.
(5) Reinforce the Quality Assurance of the works on site by
appointing a Portuguese site Agent expert on high-rise
buildings.
(6) Coordination with Client, Engineer, Architect, Designer
and Project Manager for the Mock-up panels testing in Al-
Futtaim Bodycote open laboratory in Dubai.

Synopsis on the Involvement and Support to the
Building Envelope Project on the NTB.
Due to substantiate problems arising in the technical follow-up
on the Chinese sub-contractor for the proper implementation
of a Quality Assurance of the work in relation with the
Performance Testing done on Mock-up panels in Shanghai-
China, LBG (Louis Berger Group) Florida-USA, has requested a
professional consultant in the field of Glass and Aluminium
structures.
After some networking internationally and locally, AFEL
(Aluminium Façade Engineering Ltd) a locally based company
has been appointed to give a full technical support to the
LBG’s team on site in the middle of the project.
Thus AFEL representive Mr Michael Athow who already had
14yrs experience in the said sector embarked on this
challenging technical project which was the first of the kind in
the Indian Ocean.
