Electrical Hardware Engineer UAV Tactical Systems Ltd (U-TacS)
June 2016 – October 2016
Contract Electrical and mechanical project assist to the lead electrical hardware engineer
for both ground and air based system solution. Main responsibilities: -
 Provide design expertise to UAV Tactical Systems to undertake the Electrical and
Hardware Design and Development.
 Provide electrical design expertise, in terms of IEE Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
and current Defense Standards.
 Produce detailed interconnection wiring diagrams and schedules for Ground and
Air Systems.
 Produce design specifications (from customer requirements) for hardware
procurement, using external sub-contractors (both electrical and mechanical).
 Provide hardware knowledge to identify and select equipment to be used within the
system.
 Provide EMC knowledge during the design phase and also at the testing phase,
based on commercial and defense standards (Def-Stan/Mil-Std/EMC Directive).
 Throughout the design it is imperative that the design documentation is maintained
using the company PDM Tool (Teamcenter), this will include Bill of Material
definition, Part Structures etc.
 Design and control the supply of all system cabling through the supply chain.
During my time at U-TacS I was influential in the ACU selection process allowing the main
build stage to commence on time and within budget.
All work was carried out at a temporary place of work in Leicester.

Engineer Kaliber Wiring Systems Ltd October 2010 – March 2016
Responsible for the design, procurement and supervision of build of electrical cable
harness assemblies and electro/mechanical assemblies without supervision. Installations
included military vehicles, commercial vehicles and ISO container monitoring installations.
Full and complete understanding of military specifications and component selection.
Support and guidance to other engineers, procurement and production.
Modification of cable designs using company standards utilizing Harnware and Autocad
2D.
Production of BOM's and relevant manufacturing instructions in accordance with relevant
uk standards and company standards.
3D design of sheetmetal, framework and machined components using Creo Parametric.
Full project management from quotation through to final delivery.
A full summary of responsibilities also include:-
 Produce estimates from design proposals for Sales quotations
 Specify materials appropriate to particular applications
 Liaise with customers on technical matters including working onsite
 Define, demonstrate and establish the sequence of operators required to fully meet
drawing and specification, requirements, building prototypes and/or pre-production
samples where necessary
 Build or supervise the production of first article samples and collect/collate
associated data
 Produce process control documentation including codes of practice and work
instructions
 Identify and define methods that increase productivity including
recommendations/designs for jigs, tools and fixtures
 Conduct training where appropriate for both permanent and temporary production
operators
 Provide support and/or cover for consulting engineering

Senior Design Engineer Dytecna Ltd 2006 – Aug 2009
Mechanical design of assemblys/sub-assemblys utilising 3D software and incorporating
wiring schematics where required.
Responsible for the design, procurement and supervision of build of electrical cable
harness assemblies without supervision. Installations included military vehicles,
commercial vehicles, boats and transit cases. All designs undertook with Harnware. Full
and complete understanding of military specifications and component selection.
Support and guidance to senior and junior engineers, procurement and production.
Modification of cable designs using company standards utilizing Harnware and Autocad

Responsible for the design, procurement and build of electrical and mechanical assemblies
without supervision. Software packages included 2D Autocad, 3D Inventor, Harnware and
Microsoft office. Installations included military vehicles, commercial vehicles, boats and
transit cases.
Trainee Draughtsman Dytecna LTD 1998 - 2002
Duties included the design and production of 2D drawings for mechanical and electrical
assemblies under the supervision of the drawing office manager. Excellent knowledge of
relevant UK and company standards.
Senior Installation Technician Dytecna LTD 1996 - 1998
Responsible for the free-flow of work through the installation department and the
supervision of up to ten technicians. Responsible for the on-going training of junior
technicians.

Responsible to the Installation manager for the installation and wiring of electrical and
mechanical assemblies into vehicles installations both commercial and military and also
transit cases. On-site installation was also required with extended periods of working away.
