All Star Game History
The 2017 NBAAll–Star Game may have been one of the most anticipated exhibitions in recent
years, mostly because fans' eyes eagerly awaited the on–court interaction between former teammates
Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. During the game, the two adversaries linked up about as
much as expected, connecting on a lone alley–oop in the first quarter. The singular play may not
have satisfied fans' thirsts for more drama, but their West teammates appreciated the reunion,
showering the duo with applause during the ensuing timeout. The game itself was nothing more than
a glorified scoring competition, but it's difficult to expect much else from an exhibition that has no
bearing on future events. In the end, the West outlasted the East for a 192–182 victory, the most
points scored between the teams in All–Star Game history. It was only fitting that in his home arena,
New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis took home MVP honors. Davis took an All–Star
record 39 shots and scored a record 52 points, outdoing Wilt Chamberlain's 42–point total in 1962.
While Davis was certainly enthusiastic about receiving the game's only coveted award, he was
undoubtedly giddy after the game when he found out fellow Western Conference All–Star
DeMarcus Cousins had been traded to New Orleans. Glenn Robinson III wins sleepy 2017 Verizon

History of the Chicago Bulls Essay example
The Chicago Bulls, they have gone through many stages of success, including six championships
with Michael Jordon's Bulls. Michael Jordan in fact is the reason why most people know about the
Bulls. The Bulls though do run deeper than just Michael Jordan, because before Jordan came to the
Bulls the Bulls had to come to the NBA. The Chicago Bulls are one of the most memorable and
historic professional basketball teams in history. The Bulls joined the National Basketball
Association in 1965. Before this the Bulls had been known as the Chicago stags, the stags had been
one of the best teams in the Business Basketball Association since 1946 and even played one season
in the NBA before they folded and started over as the present day Chicago ... Show more content on

After this promising start though the Bulls would so begin to falter (Chicago History). At the start of
the Bulls second season things looked grim for the team. They had traded their star player Guy
Rodgers for Flynn Robinson and two future draft picks. This proved to be a fatal flaw as the Bulls
only went a mere 29–53 in the regular season. Still this was barely enough to get into the playoffs
where they were destroyed by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round. After this dreary season the
Bulls lost Jerry Colangelo, from their front office and he took Jonny Kerr, the Bulls head coach with
him. This however, gave them the chance to hire the unlikely choice of Dick Motta (Chicago
History). Motta was in some ways a godsend to the Bulls because of the way he helped the Bulls
turn the corner in the early 1970's. He brought a tough defensive mind to the table and this translated
directly into the Bulls tough defensive play. Motta was also helped out when the Bulls drafted
rookie Tom Boerwinkle, a seven foot center that would turn out to be a star. The Bulls also traded
Robinson to Milwaukee for Bob Love, an NBA legend. That same year the Bulls acquired Bob
Weiss and Jerry Sloan, all this added up to a very competitive club. This Bulls team in fact was the
best rebounding squad the Bulls ever put on the floor with a total of 4,550 total rebound in

Kevin Durant's Selection Process
July 1st is the beginning of the pursuit. We all knew it was coming. Kevin Durant begins his
selection process. With the massive TV deal leading to the rising cap, Durant will have many
options. He has narrowed it down to six teams; the Thunder, Warriors, Spurs, Celtics, Heat, and
Clippers. I have dissected the candidates.
Thunder– No brainer. Durant was drafted by the Thunder (Supersonics) number 2 overall in the
2007 NBA draft. Durant has blossomed into a superstar with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The 7X
All–Star described as the "scoring prodigy" has won the scoring title four times. The face of the
franchise, Durant is the leader and face of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Before he makes the
decision (no TV special needed), the Thunder will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
KD in Green, charging out of the tunnel at the TD Bank North Garden to his first NBA title, 18th
franchise title, permanently stamping his title as one of the greatest if all time. This is the scrawny
kid that was chosen second to Greg Oden (gotta love the NBA draft) in 2007. Durant is not about
wasting anyone's time. JHe wants to go where he can lead his team and win a title. A place he can
call home, cement his legacy. No better place than the Celtics. The Celtics are an organization rich
with tradition, from Larry Bird to Bill Russell, no one can argue the deep history seeping through
Legends Way around the Garden. Currently, they have a solid young defensive team and the money
to spend to acquire one or two missing pieces. Durant has raved about the Celtics organization
before. They are definitely the dark horse in this game.
Heat– All honesty, outside of the weather and no state tax I have no idea why he would choose to go
to the Heat. Whiteside is a free agent and will most likely sign elsewhere, Wade will likely be
resigned but is on the downside of his career, and no Bosh. The Heat are expected to enter free
agency with about $42 million in cap space, there would have to be some maneuvering on the part
of the Heat to sign Durant and still have a team around him that can compete for the title. No

Analysis Of The League Of Legends: Harmless Discourse...
Clicking sounds... Button mashing... Screaming curse words and bloody murder; while League of
Legends seems to be a pointless discourse community, the modernized game drastically modifies
stories of legends. The League of Legends discourse community, proven with Swales' six
characteristics, establishes a foundation for the future success of eSports along with the
intercommunication of people around the globe. The energizing, socializing events take place on a
computer screen for approximately 30–40 minutes; nevertheless, the option, to friend another player,
assists in extending that time. Accordingly, the discourse community is captivating, personally, in
various ways, such as the mystery of elo, players, and the superstars waiting for the prospect ...

How do they transform into one of the best? People on the internet may meet the other player in real

making, including in–game crossroads along with player personalities. Given that 5 minutes into a

Best NBA Player
Wow, this 2016–17 NBA regular was tremendous for the NBA world. From LeBron becoming an
explosive player again to Russel Westbrook having an amazing triple double run. In order for him to
have surpassed the legend he need to tweak the team chemistry and player like a player who has a
unique usage for a team. I just wonder what the locker room has to be like when Russ wins the game
for his team along with getting season awards such as player of the week. I have so many wonders,
but Russel Westbrooks play this season is the most intriguing that I have. This season Russel
Westbrook averaged a triple double and surpassed Oscar Roberson for most triple doubles in a
season with forty–three. He averaged 31 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. In order for him to have
been able to average a triple double this season had to at least have one in forty–one of the eighty–
two season games. Since Russ has achieved an honor that seemed unable to fully commit to,
because of how long the season is he is the 2016–17 regular season most valuable player[mvp].

Although both coaches on each team are NBA veterans, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden
State Warriors share a small difference when it comes to playing strategies. While the Cleveland
Cavaliers focuses on defensive playing, to guard Golden State's strong offense and to avoid
turnovers, the Golden State Warriors rely heavily on their offense to secure a victory. Furthermore,
the two teams are exceptionally different when it comes to coaches. After the David Blatt's firing in
the middle of the 2015–2016 season, Tyronn Lue was appointed as the new coach of the Cleveland
Cavaliers. During Tyronn's NBA career, he played on 8 different teams, with two championships.

Essay On The Teaching Of Society In Lord Of The Flies
The Teaching of Society: Lord of the Flies
In the past three years, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been an unstoppable force in the Eastern
Conference of the NBA. Led by arguably the best player ever, LeBron James, they have made three
straight finals appearances, winning the Cavs first NBA titles in 2016 on a game sealing three by
point guard Kyrie Irving. LeBron himself has been to seven straight NBA Finals so one could say he
knows the game well and is to be considered a teacher of the game to his younger teammates such
as Irving. Recently, Irving has decided to step away from the Cavaliers organization to join the
Boston Celtics because he no longer wanted to be in the so called "shadow" of James. Multiple
sources have spoken on Lebron's basketball IQ calling it part of the reason he is the best player right
now. Now that Kyrie has joined the Celtics he is leading his team based off things Lebron has
already taught him, but only time will tell how the season will go and if Kyrie can survive. In the

they know about civilization already and how to behave to try and survive on this island. In Lord of

Pros And Cons Of Tanking
The idea of winning is one everyone enjoys. The feeling of winning is incomparable to anything
else, and overall creates everlasting memories. When a team can't win, it can be due to the talent, the
coaching staff, or overall just not being good enough. Consistently being atop the totem pole that is
the NBA is nearly impossible, but many teams have tried, similar to the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles
Lakers, and the Boston Celtics. When a team is not good enough to win the NBA Finals or to even
compete for a playoff berth, there are two paths those teams can take, to try their best to win, or to
tank. Tanking is the overall idea that teams lose games on purpose in order to better their odds at
getting a top draft pick (Thompson). Tanking is something that teams should not do, and is
something that should not be condoned (claim of policy). This could be done by changing the
overall dynamic of the draft lottery and perhaps putting into place things that penalize teams for
being awful. In the NBA, the worse the record a team has, the higher opportunity they have at
getting the number one overall pick and selecting what they claim to be the next Michael Jordan.
While the idea of doing that is a solid one, the odds of it happening and actually fully going through

While it is near impossible to be a top end team in the NBA, there is no point in losing just to try to
get there. Teams that end up being successful get there through things like free agency, hitting on
later draft picks, or just having a valuable core of players stick around to try to bring a ring to their
hometown. Regardless of how good the team is, winning is what drives them. Competition drives
individuals to become better at what they do. The elation that comes with winning is incredible and

The Marquee match up in the 2017 NBA Finals will surround Lebron James vs. Stephen Curry.
Despite not matching up positions wise, James and Curry will meet in their third consecutive NBA

The stark contrast between both players may not even be in their pure production level, but rather in
their confidence. J.R Smith's confidence seems to be at an all time high. Klay Thompson's seems to
be at its lowest point since his rookie and sophomore seasons, if that. Their roles in the offense
differ, however. J.R Smith plays about 25 minutes a game, to Klay's 35. Thompson is looked upon to
do more for Golden State, which includes but is not limited to: guarding the opposing team's best
perimeter player, coming off screens for threes, and a higher volume of shots attempted. However, it
is J.R Smith who's production will be more vital. The Cavaliers thankfully have many safety nets for
Smith in the event of lackluster play. The addition of Kyle Korver gives Cleveland flexibility at the
2 guard spot, with a deadeye three point shooter who can keep up with the likes of the splash
brothers in the long ball department. A defensive liability admittedly, the Cavs also have Iman
Shumpert at their disposal. A great defender who plays better off ball defense than Smith, "Shump"
often times has a sporadic offensive game which comes and goes. J.R Smith will be the bearer of
tremendous burden. Looked upon to be that fourth scorer for Cleveland's front line, Smith will have
to come into the lineup prepared to play smart above all things, and execute at an efficient rate. The

Traits That Make Up The Best NBA Player
Traits that Make up the Best Current NBA players The game is set, it's the 2017 NBA all star game.
Everyone's eyes are wide as they watch, swishes from three pointers, and the rim rattling from
dunks can be heard. The spotlight is on when these East and West all–stars are on the court: most of
these players MVPs, league leaders, and NBA champions. They are the league's best, and the best in
the world as they astonish the crowds when they show off their talent. But it takes a lot of great traits
for these players to be considered the best in the league and make it to the 2017 All Star Game.
While there are many players in the current NBA, Similar qualities separate the greats from every
other player in the league. Since certain traits make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The best defensive player in the league, and NBA champion, and western conference all star starter
Kawhi Leonard demonstrates this ability. The San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard won
defensive MVP in 2015–16 and is also one of the best players in the league, averaging 25 points per
game and 2 steals per game. Another great player who also has great defensive characteristics is
Paul George of the Indiana Pacers. When not on the floor the Pacers are one of the worst defensive
teams, but when he is on the court they become 6th defensively. He is almost single handling
leading the Pacers to a playoff position this year, at the 6th seed as of right now. The final great
current NBA player whose great defensive ability makes him strive is Detroit Pistons center Andre
Drummond. Drummond is the anchor of the Pistons, and a defensive monster, averaging 1.6 blocks
per game. Andre is leading the NBA with a defensive rating of 93, and is one of the best at
defending the paint. That is how all great current NBA players share a trait of great defense to make
them the best current NBA players, examples are Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and Andre
Drummond.
All good current NBA players should have good athleticism, good defense, or clutch ability. By
having all of these qualities, these players take over the league. They get swarmed with fans,
endorsements, publicity, and most of all money.

Cockiness Persuasive Speech
"Bucks in six", Brandon Jennings once infamously declared, as the 8th seeded Bucks were headed to
face LeBron James and the Big Three of the Miami Heat in the playoffs. Unfortunately for Brandon,
and myself as a Bucks fan, this bold declaration amounted to nothing, as the Heat promptly swept
the Bucks and went on to win the NBA championship that year. These were also Jennings's final
games as a Buck, as in the off–season, he was traded to the Detroit Pistons for Brandon Knight and
Khris Middleton. Perhaps the Bucks front office had the same belief that I hold, that actions speak
louder than words. Cockiness is a common area where this philosophy applies. Likewise to
Jennings, Lavar Ball has a somewhat deluded sense of reality. Recently, he infamously declared that
he would defeat Michael Jordan in a game of 1 on 1 basketball. However, since Jordan is perhaps

Sorry Lavar, but actions speak louder than words. Cockiness is not the only area where I believe this
philosophy applies. I also believe that people can, and often do, say things that do not reflect them
as a person. However, as a society, we are quick to judge, and people often don't get past what
someone says or how they talk, and don't look at the meaningful actions of someone. An example of
someone like this is Demarcus Cousins. Cousins is widely perceived as a hothead and a locker room
cancer, due to his frequent verbal clashes with officials and the media. He has received an
astounding 18 technical fouls this season, many likely due to reputation, and there are still games to
play. However, Boogie, as he is known, is extremely charitable, and very willing to help others in

The NBA Should Enforce a Hard Salary Cap
How many of you sports fans out there are sick of paying twenty–five dollars for a lousy seat at an
NBA game? How many of you are sick of seeing the same teams in the finals every year? I'm sure
there are thousands of you out there that feel this way, as do I. The way we can fix these problems is
to demand that the NBA enforce a hard salary cap. A hard salary cap would lower ticket prices,
allow for more teams to be more competitive and eliminate the possibility of any future lockouts. If
the three things listed above aren't met, it's hard to say if the NBA will survive at all. I want to see
the NBA survive, but not in the way things are being run now. A hard salary cap is the only way ...

( 1 ) The players realize that they are eliminating their average fan and they don't care. We as fans
should not pay these outlandish ticket prices. A hard salary cap is the only thing that will lower
salaries and ticket prices. If ticket prices aren't lowered, I personally feel that the players can kiss
their pay checks goodbye. But what do other people think.
Some people believe that NBA arenas will fill up in spite of high ticket prices. Just last year Michael
Jordan made 33.14 million dollars while the whole Chicago Bulls salary cap was 26.9 million, and
all season long seats were filled. That means to some that no matter the amount, people will
continue to attend NBA games.
To the people that believe this, I must remind them of Major League Baseball and the situation that
they faced just a few years back. First, players' salaries skyrocketed to obscene levels, alienating
their average fan. Next, the players couldn't decide how to divide up their millions. Finally, they quit
playing the game and their fans quit caring about Major League Baseball. Does any of this sound
familiar? This is exactly what's happening in the NBA right now. If it happened to the American
Pastime it can, and certainly will, happen to the NBA. Yet people, in spite of the lower ticket prices
provided by a hard salary cap, aren't convinced that a hard salary cap is a good idea. They feel that

Compare And Contrast Essay Lebroon James Vs Stephen Curry
LeBron James plays the small forward position and stands at 6 foot 8 and weighs 250 lbs, and
Stephen Curry plays the point guard position and stands at 6 foot 3 and weighs 190 lbs. LeBron
James has played 13 season and Stephen Curry has played 7 seasons. Obviously LeBron James' stats
are going to be higher for the most part because he has played longer, but I want to compare and
project who is going to be better at the end of their careers and who's better now. Granted, both
players play different position so they have to be judged on if they are better players overall.

Takeaways Analysis
On Sunday night, the Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 132–113 in Game 2 of
the 2017 NBA Finals, taking a commanding 2–0 series lead. Even though Cavaliers' superstar
LeBron James notched his eighth NBA Finals triple–double, tying him with Magic Johnson for the
most in NBA Finals history, it was not enough to overcome the offensive firepower of the Warriors.
Just like in Game 1, it was once again the Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry show.
Here are three takeaways from Game 2:
1. Kevin Durant is on his way to potentially being named Finals MVP
After his phenomenal Game 1 performance, many people wondered what Kevin Durant would do

To answer that question, Durant did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite his stellar perimeter defense, the Warriors needed Thompson to find his shot again and give
them an extra offensive boost in Game 2.
Thompson did just that as he pitched in with 22 points and seven rebounds, plus knocked down 4–
of–7 from three–point range. Give Thompson credit though, he is an outstanding shooter and when
you are a shooter like him, you need to have a short memory.
A missed shot will not make or break you. Thompson was knocking down shots inside the arc,
putting the ball on the floor, and dialing it up from distance.
The Warriors will need him to continue to shoot the ball like he did on Sunday night, especially if
they want to win Game 3 on Tuesday night and take a commanding 3–0 series lead.
3. LeBron James is still the greatest player in the world but he cannot do it all
Once again in the NBA Finals, LeBron James gave us another special performance. As I mentioned
earlier, James posted his eighth NBA Finals triple–double consisting of 29 points, 14 rebounds, and
11 assists, but it was not enough.
Early in the game, James was playing like a man possessed. He was controlling the tempo, attacking
the basket with force and tenacity, while also getting his teammates involved. He also threw down a
powerful dunk on Andre Iguodala, who was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
However, James' teammates could not reciprocate the favor and help him out. Just like in Game 1,

The Similarities And Differences Of Basketball Vs....
There are many similarities and differences between pro basketball and college. There are many
different rules between pro and college level. The NBA consist of 32 professional teams, but the
college level has 347 division 1 schools that develop players and make them grow into being a
professional athlete. When coming out of high school, you get to choose what school you want to
play for. Most athletes pick the biggest school with the biggest fan base. That way these players will
be noticed and scouted before going pro. The professional level is completely different because you
enter the draft. You don't get to choose where or who you play for after the draft. There are so many
differences and similarities between the two. A difference between the two are that in the NBA you
can foul six times before fouling out but in the NCAA you get only 5. Fouling out results in you
sitting on the bench for the rest of the game without playing but just watching. In the NBA after five
fouls the opposing team is put in the bonus, but in the NCAA it takes seven fouls to be put into the
bonus. The bonus for the NBA is when you get fouled you get two free throws. In the NCAA you
get a term called "One and one". It's where you shoot one free throw and make it you get a chance at
another, but if you miss the first shot you don't get another shot. The tenth foul in college basketball
results in the double bonus where you will be allowed to shoot two free throws in a row even if you
miss one.

Michael vs Kobe
The great Michael Jordan once said "To many players in today 's NBA, Bryant stands on equal
footing with the player he patterned his game after." (http://www.foxsports.com/) I find it
authentically interesting that if you ask Kobe Bryant he will willing confess to attempting to
replicate Michael Jordan's exclusive playing style. When Kobe was questioned concerning the
allegations in regards to Kobe stealing MJ's style of play this was his rebuttal "as a kid growing up
in Italy, all I had was video, so I studied everything," Bryant said. "I studied every player. Then once
I came back to the States, and I realized I wasn 't going to be 6–9, I started studying Michael
exclusively." (http://www.cbssports.com/) The father–son sort of rivalry between Michael Jordan

step in the right direction to build a winning organization from the ground–up. The Knicks'
management made this decision knowing that it would take multiple years before they return to a
championship contender again, even though they committed roughly $124 million to an impatient
and aging star in Carmelo Anthony.
Just a year removed from those events and a historically bad season in the Big Apple, fans were
disappointed to end up with only the fourth pick in the 2015 draft. With three unanimous stars in the
draft in Karl–Anthony Towns, D'Angelo Russell and Jahlil Okafor going as projected in the top
three, Phil Jackson and company were left to play cleanup with the rest of the prospects. With
pressure from a 31–year old Melo wanting draft a player that would help the Knicks win
immediately, the Zen Master went in the complete opposite direction, taking raw big man Kristaps
Porzingis of Latvia, who was booed by fans as he walked up to shake Adam Silver's hand at the
podium. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Compare And Contrast Kyrie Irving And The Warriors
During the 2014–2015 NBA season, point guard Stephen Curry for the Golden State Warriors led
his team to win the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers. In the 2015–2016 season, Kyrie
Irving & the Cavaliers won the NBA Finals against the Warriors. After Kyrie Irving outplayed
Stephen Curry & the Warriors, people started to debate. Who is the better point guard, Kyrie Irving
or Stephen Curry? Kyrie Irving is way better than Stephen Curry. Kyrie got rookie of the year
award. Curry never got an award when he started off. It took time for Curry to get good while Kyrie
was already good in his debut in the NBA. Rookie of the year award is not easy to get, because there
are many rookies that start off in the NBA every year. Yet Kyrie Irving got to have the honor of
being the rookie of the year. It took Curry very long to improve as a player, & Kyrie was good at the
start of his career, so Kyrie is better. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Curry had a hard time scoring against Irving in his games, while Kyrie did better than Curry does.
Curry misses a lot of lay–ups as well, & Kyrie Irving can actually finish his plays. They are both
known as great ball handlers, but if you can't finish your plays, then your ball handling is basically
useless. Also, since Kyrie has more points per game against Curry, he helped his team win more.
Scoring helps you win, & Curry did less of that against Kyrie Irving. Kyrie can face his opponent

Summary Of Magic Johnson And Larry Bird
The National Basketball Association (NBA) has transformed over the many of years as an
organization and a brand, into a multibillion–dollar business that draws thousands and thousands of
fans to each and every game. Many contributing factors have made the NBA what it is today, but the
main cause of this gain in interest is the ultimate rivalry between two remarkable players, Earvin
"Magic" Johnson and Larry "the Legend" Bird. The battling rivalry amongst these individuals is
comparable to the feud of Coca Cola and Pepsi, or, Star Wars and Star Trek. During the era of
modern television, and the still and ever present racial bigotry, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird
helped redefine the game of basketball and popularity of the NBA with their ... Show more content

Yes, many could argue that former and following rivalries between individuals such as George
Mikan and Bob Cousy or Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett could be compared to the Magic–Bird
rivalry, however timing for Magic and Bird couldn't been any more fitting.
During the 80's, the period of which these individuals played, the NBA desperately needed a new
spark, and the NBA got just what it needed. Larry Bird's Celtics during the 1979–80 season made a
dramatic improvement "from a 29–53 record the year before to 61–21"(Magic Johnson and). While
Bird is making an extraordinary turnaround for his Boston Celtics, Magic Johnson, during his rookie
season, won a NBA championship for the Los Angeles Lakers. This was the Los Angeles Lakers
seventh NBA championship victory. Their success helped the NBA, but their identities off the court
supersedes the game of basketball. The years previous to the Magic–Bird rivalry were ever
changing. The NBA changed from a fundamental, half–court game with all–white players, to a quick
pace, athletically acrobatic game with mainly black players. Few old–school former white people,
such as Jerry West and Pete Maravich, could participate and compete in this new form of basketball.
This different style of basketball significantly swayed many viewers, white fans, from attending the
NBA games. White fans felt that the game was very egocentric and didn't involve all the players.
Also, the white fans didn't

All Star Game History

  • 1. All Star Game History The 2017 NBAAll–Star Game may have been one of the most anticipated exhibitions in recent years, mostly because fans' eyes eagerly awaited the on–court interaction between former teammates Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. During the game, the two adversaries linked up about as much as expected, connecting on a lone alley–oop in the first quarter. The singular play may not have satisfied fans' thirsts for more drama, but their West teammates appreciated the reunion, showering the duo with applause during the ensuing timeout. The game itself was nothing more than a glorified scoring competition, but it's difficult to expect much else from an exhibition that has no bearing on future events. In the end, the West outlasted the East for a 192–182 victory, the most points scored between the teams in All–Star Game history. It was only fitting that in his home arena, New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis took home MVP honors. Davis took an All–Star record 39 shots and scored a record 52 points, outdoing Wilt Chamberlain's 42–point total in 1962. While Davis was certainly enthusiastic about receiving the game's only coveted award, he was undoubtedly giddy after the game when he found out fellow Western Conference All–Star DeMarcus Cousins had been traded to New Orleans. • 3. History of the Chicago Bulls Essay example The Chicago Bulls, they have gone through many stages of success, including six championships with Michael Jordon's Bulls. Michael Jordan in fact is the reason why most people know about the Bulls. The Bulls though do run deeper than just Michael Jordan, because before Jordan came to the Bulls the Bulls had to come to the NBA. The Chicago Bulls are one of the most memorable and historic professional basketball teams in history. The Bulls joined the National Basketball Association in 1965. Before this the Bulls had been known as the Chicago stags, the stags had been one of the best teams in the Business Basketball Association since 1946 and even played one season in the NBA before they folded and started over as the present day Chicago ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After this promising start though the Bulls would so begin to falter (Chicago History). At the start of the Bulls second season things looked grim for the team. They had traded their star player Guy Rodgers for Flynn Robinson and two future draft picks. This proved to be a fatal flaw as the Bulls only went a mere 29–53 in the regular season. Still this was barely enough to get into the playoffs where they were destroyed by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round. After this dreary season the Bulls lost Jerry Colangelo, from their front office and he took Jonny Kerr, the Bulls head coach with him. This however, gave them the chance to hire the unlikely choice of Dick Motta (Chicago History). Motta was in some ways a godsend to the Bulls because of the way he helped the Bulls turn the corner in the early 1970's. He brought a tough defensive mind to the table and this translated directly into the Bulls tough defensive play. Motta was also helped out when the Bulls drafted rookie Tom Boerwinkle, a seven foot center that would turn out to be a star. The Bulls also traded Robinson to Milwaukee for Bob Love, an NBA legend. That same year the Bulls acquired Bob Weiss and Jerry Sloan, all this added up to a very competitive club. This Bulls team in fact was the best rebounding squad the Bulls ever put on the floor with a total of 4,550 total rebound in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Kevin Durant's Selection Process July 1st is the beginning of the pursuit. We all knew it was coming. Kevin Durant begins his selection process. With the massive TV deal leading to the rising cap, Durant will have many options. He has narrowed it down to six teams; the Thunder, Warriors, Spurs, Celtics, Heat, and Clippers. I have dissected the candidates. Thunder– No brainer. Durant was drafted by the Thunder (Supersonics) number 2 overall in the 2007 NBA draft. Durant has blossomed into a superstar with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The 7X All–Star described as the "scoring prodigy" has won the scoring title four times. This is the scrawny kid that was chosen second to Greg Oden (gotta love the NBA draft) in 2007. Durant is not about wasting anyone's time. JHe wants to go where he can lead his team and win a title. A place he can call home, cement his legacy. No better place than the Celtics. The Celtics are an organization rich with tradition, from Larry Bird to Bill Russell, no one can argue the deep history seeping through Legends Way around the Garden. Currently, they have a solid young defensive team and the money to spend to acquire one or two missing pieces. Durant has raved about the Celtics organization before. They are definitely the dark horse in this game. Heat– All honesty, outside of the weather and no state tax I have no idea why he would choose to go to the Heat. Whiteside is a free agent and will most likely sign elsewhere, Wade will likely be resigned but is on the downside of his career, and no Bosh. The Heat are expected to enter free agency with about $42 million in cap space, there would have to be some maneuvering on the part of the Heat to sign Durant and still have a team around him that can compete for the title. In order for him to have surpassed the legend he need to tweak the team chemistry and player like a player who has a unique usage for a team. I just wonder what the locker room has to be like when Russ wins the game for his team along with getting season awards such as player of the week. I have so many wonders, but Russel Westbrooks play this season is the most intriguing that I have. This season Russel Westbrook averaged a triple double and surpassed Oscar Roberson for most triple doubles in a season with forty–three. He averaged 31 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. In order for him to have been able to average a triple double this season had to at least have one in forty–one of the eighty– two season games. Furthermore, the two teams are exceptionally different when it comes to coaches. After the David Blatt's firing in the middle of the 2015–2016 season, Tyronn Lue was appointed as the new coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. During Tyronn's NBA career, he played on 8 different teams, with two championships. Unlike the Tyronn, not only did Steve Kerr played with Michael Jordan and won 5 NBA titles, his experience as a successful NBA player has given him the opportunity to document different strategies. In addition to strategic planning on the court, the teams share a difference in terms of a game mindset. In the CBS Sports article, the title "In taking control of Lebron Tyronn Lue has created a monster in Cleveland" represents Tyronn's strategy to success. (www.cbssports.com) Although Lebron is the prime leader, Tyronn Lue sets a mindset to the Cavaliers team to work together as a team and not let Lebron take all the leadership. Different from the ... • 29. Pros And Cons Of Tanking The idea of winning is one everyone enjoys. The feeling of winning is incomparable to anything else, and overall creates everlasting memories. When a team can't win, it can be due to the talent, the coaching staff, or overall just not being good enough. Consistently being atop the totem pole that is the NBA is nearly impossible, but many teams have tried, similar to the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, and the Boston Celtics. When a team is not good enough to win the NBA Finals or to even compete for a playoff berth, there are two paths those teams can take, to try their best to win, or to tank. Tanking is the overall idea that teams lose games on purpose in order to better their odds at getting a top draft pick (Thompson). Tanking is something that teams should not do, and is something that should not be condoned (claim of policy). This could be done by changing the overall dynamic of the draft lottery and perhaps putting into place things that penalize teams for being awful. In the NBA, the worse the record a team has, the higher opportunity they have at getting the number one overall pick and selecting what they claim to be the next Michael Jordan. Just like in a good ol' fashion game of 1 on 1, the third game decides the tie break. Positions wise, James and Kevin Durant will be the main story of the finals with Curry and Kyrie Irving holding equal importance. But perhaps the most impactful match up is Klay Thompson and J.R Smith. The Warriors have a big 4, while the Cavaliers have a traditional big 3. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The stark contrast between both players may not even be in their pure production level, but rather in their confidence. J.R Smith's confidence seems to be at an all time high. Klay Thompson's seems to be at its lowest point since his rookie and sophomore seasons, if that. Their roles in the offense differ, however. J.R Smith plays about 25 minutes a game, to Klay's 35. Thompson is looked upon to do more for Golden State, which includes but is not limited to: guarding the opposing team's best perimeter player, coming off screens for threes, and a higher volume of shots attempted. However, it is J.R Smith who's production will be more vital. The Cavaliers thankfully have many safety nets for Smith in the event of lackluster play. The addition of Kyle Korver gives Cleveland flexibility at the 2 guard spot, with a deadeye three point shooter who can keep up with the likes of the splash brothers in the long ball department. A defensive liability admittedly, the Cavs also have Iman Shumpert at their disposal. A great defender who plays better off ball defense than Smith, "Shump" often times has a sporadic offensive game which comes and goes. J.R Smith will be the bearer of tremendous burden. How many of you are sick of seeing the same teams in the finals every year? I'm sure there are thousands of you out there that feel this way, as do I. Some people believe that NBA arenas will fill up in spite of high ticket prices. Just last year Michael Jordan made 33.14 million dollars while the whole Chicago Bulls salary cap was 26.9 million, and all season long seats were filled. That means to some that no matter the amount, people will continue to attend NBA games. To the people that believe this, I must remind them of Major League Baseball and the situation that they faced just a few years back. First, players' salaries skyrocketed to obscene levels, alienating their average fan. Next, the players couldn't decide how to divide up their millions. Even though Cavaliers' superstar LeBron James notched his eighth NBA Finals triple–double, tying him with Magic Johnson for the most in NBA Finals history, it was not enough to overcome the offensive firepower of the Warriors. Just like in Game 1, it was once again the Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry show. Here are three takeaways from Game 2: 1. Despite his stellar perimeter defense, the Warriors needed Thompson to find his shot again and give them an extra offensive boost in Game 2. Thompson did just that as he pitched in with 22 points and seven rebounds, plus knocked down 4– of–7 from three–point range. Give Thompson credit though, he is an outstanding shooter and when you are a shooter like him, you need to have a short memory. A missed shot will not make or break you. Thompson was knocking down shots inside the arc, putting the ball on the floor, and dialing it up from distance. The Warriors will need him to continue to shoot the ball like he did on Sunday night, especially if they want to win Game 3 on Tuesday night and take a commanding 3–0 series lead. 3. • 64. The Similarities And Differences Of Basketball Vs.... There are many similarities and differences between pro basketball and college. There are many different rules between pro and college level. The NBA consist of 32 professional teams, but the college level has 347 division 1 schools that develop players and make them grow into being a professional athlete. When coming out of high school, you get to choose what school you want to play for. Most athletes pick the biggest school with the biggest fan base. That way these players will be noticed and scouted before going pro. The professional level is completely different because you enter the draft. You don't get to choose where or who you play for after the draft. There are so many differences and similarities between the two. A difference between the two are that in the NBA you can foul six times before fouling out but in the NCAA you get only 5. Fouling out results in you sitting on the bench for the rest of the game without playing but just watching. In the NBA after five fouls the opposing team is put in the bonus, but in the NCAA it takes seven fouls to be put into the bonus. The bonus for the NBA is when you get fouled you get two free throws. In the NCAA you get a term called "One and one". It's where you shoot one free throw and make it you get a chance at another, but if you miss the first shot you don't get another shot. The tenth foul in college basketball results in the double bonus where you will be allowed to shoot two free throws in a row even if you miss one. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Michael vs Kobe The great Michael Jordan once said "To many players in today 's NBA, Bryant stands on equal footing with the player he patterned his game after." (http://www.foxsports.com/) I find it authentically interesting that if you ask Kobe Bryant he will willing confess to attempting to replicate Michael Jordan's exclusive playing style. When Kobe was questioned concerning the allegations in regards to Kobe stealing MJ's style of play this was his rebuttal "as a kid growing up in Italy, all I had was video, so I studied everything," Bryant said. "I studied every player. Then once I came back to the States, and I realized I wasn 't going to be 6–9, I started studying Michael exclusively." If it seems odd, at this point, for so many to be confused about Michael Jordan's identity, it's only because Jordan makes it confusing. Kristaps Porzingis Research Paper Kristaps Porzingis When the New York Knicks hired Phil Jackson to run all basketball operations in 2014, they took a step in the right direction to build a winning organization from the ground–up. The Knicks' management made this decision knowing that it would take multiple years before they return to a championship contender again, even though they committed roughly $124 million to an impatient and aging star in Carmelo Anthony. Just a year removed from those events and a historically bad season in the Big Apple, fans were disappointed to end up with only the fourth pick in the 2015 draft. With three unanimous stars in the draft in Karl–Anthony Towns, D'Angelo Russell and Jahlil Okafor going as projected in the top three, Phil Jackson and company were left to play cleanup with the rest of the prospects. Larry Bird's Celtics during the 1979–80 season made a dramatic improvement "from a 29–53 record the year before to 61–21"(Magic Johnson and).
