The Alternative Learning System (ALS) in the Philippines provides education outside of the formal classroom to reach learners who lack access to formal schooling. It offers two main programs: the Basic Literacy Program for illiterate learners and the Accreditation and Equivalency Program for those who left school before completing basic education. Learning takes place through flexible modules delivered by facilitators in community spaces based on learners' needs and schedules. The ALS aims to provide all Filipinos the opportunity to complete a basic education through non-formal and informal means.
