This makes all the posters recognisable to the audience as the same film but by having three different posters it opens up the film a little more each time as to which characters are involved and what they look like, drawing in the audience to go and watch the film.

Each image has a background which matches with the character: The Mad Hatter has hats as the background, The Red Queen has hearts indicating she is the queen of hearts and Alice has keyholes which connotes that keys are a main part of the storyline for Alice.

Dateline The dateline on all three posters starts with the same opening ‘you’re invited to a very important date’ to keep the continuity and also makes it sound like a more personal invitation to the film. The ‘mad hatter’ poster which is the top one only has the year ‘2010’ in contrast to the other two which have the actual release date. This suggests that the Mad Hatter poster came out a while earlier than the other two posters to start the advertising early. The Mad Hatter poster also includes the billing box to give the audience extra information early on which actors and actresses are involved in the film.
