1. The shops in Alicante City centre can now open on a Sunday .Restrictions have been lifted
.This is because the Mercado Central and the Ensanche are classed as tourist zones and this
seems to modify the law .
Other smaller towns are also eager to take advantage of this new modification .Towns such as
Alfaz del Pi want the Valencia regional government to declare them a “tourist area ” too . .In
fact every town and village along the Costa Blanca could say the same thing .Yet supermarkets
in Moraira which have always opened on a Sunday morning are now not allowed to do so
.However they can open on a Sunday , all day , if it is Christmas .Alfaz del Pi wants their larger
supermarkets to be able to open on a Sunday too .
Alfaz del Pi . wants to promote local trade and businesses as it is so vital to their economy
.Alfaz del Pi and its neighbour of Albir want that “tourist interest ” status .They are now
preparing a report for the regional government listing all of the issues which would give them
that status .
