The parent was frustrated in the mornings as their daughter Alexia would play and ignore getting ready for school. After taking a parenting module on expressing warmth to children, the parent realized they needed to change their behavior. When the parent started showing Alexia warmth through hugs and smiles instead of demands, Alexia began listening and responding positively by eating breakfast, getting dressed, and preparing for school herself.

preparation for school, Alexia likes to watch TV, play with her toys, and run
around ignoring me.
"Alexia! Don't make me late for work!"

"Pay attention to me!"
After attending a few sessions of the D1 Module on Expressing Warmth to
Children, I realized I had to change my patterns of behavior.
The result: Alexia begins the process of listening and responding to me...

"Yes!"
Smiles
"You make me so happy!"
As I continue my learning process by changing my habits, Alexia does not scream
and roll around on the floor. Her response becomes positive.
She now sits at her table and eats her breakfast...

4. She gets dressed by herself.

5. She uses the potty by herself.

6. She brushes her teeth.
