Albania has made several achievements regarding the protection and promotion of its intangible cultural heritage between 2015-2016. It signed the 2003 UNESCO Convention in 2005 and ratified it in 2006. The Albanian iso-polyphonic singing was inscribed on the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2008. New legal and administrative measures were adopted, including a new cultural heritage law and action plans for cultural minorities and Roma people. Capacity building workshops were held for over 100 people. An inventory application was submitted to UNESCO in March 2016. Educational and promotional activities engaged over 12,000 students and featured exhibitions, festivals, and training of artisans.
