Miomir Korać is the director of the Archaeological Park Viminacium and president of the Centre for Population Sciences. He has over 30 years of experience in archaeology, having worked on excavations and projects in Britain, the US, and Serbia. He will discuss how cultural heritage can contribute to economic development through his experience managing the Archaeological Park Viminacium.

Since 1990 conducts the Project of the Informative centre within Archaeology. Since 1995 conducts
the Project “ Pandora” Expert System in Archaeology. Since 2000 conducts the Project of dynamic
presentations in the Internet. Since 2000 one of the experts of the Ministry for Science and
Environment for judging projects concerning history, archaeology, ethnology, history of art and
musicology. Since 2000 conducts the Project of applying geo-physical methods in archaeology (geo-
radar, magnetism, remote detection, analyses of digital signals). Since 1990 into multi-media. Made
several dozens of multi-media presentations. Member of the Committee for Multi-media, as well as
elected member in the European association for multi-media. Within the scientific programme of the
national television, made several projects: „Roman medical instruments“, „Ancient lamps“, „ES
Pandora“, „Ancient maps, gravures and photographs“, „Archiving of cultural heritage“. For the
scientific programme of the national television he also made a serial named „History of Serbian
archaeology“.
International cooperation
At Viminacium project together with the University at Albany, New York, USA. At the project of
Technologies of statistical learning and distributed and parallel data analysis and application in
archaeology together with the Centre for Information Science and Technology at Temple University,
USA. At the project Expert system and application of artificial intelligence in archaeology and Internet
data bases and dynamic presentation of the most important archaeological sites together with the
University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, Маthematical Institute and Mathematical Faculty in Belgrade.
Application of new methods in archaeology together with the Centre for Information Science and
Technology at Temple University, USA
