INTRODUCTION
• Himachal Pradesh is a state in the northern part of India.
• Situated in the Western Himalayas, it is one of the
eleven mountain states.
• It is characterized by an extreme landscape with several
peaks and extensive river systems.
• The state shares a border to the east with the Tibet
Autonomous Region in China.
HISTORY
• Himachal Pradesh was established in 1948 as a Chief
Commissioner's Province within the Union of India.
• The province comprised the hill districts around Shimla and
southern hill areas of the Punjab region.
• Himachal became a part C state on 26 January 1950 .
• Himachal Pradesh became a Union Territory on 1
November 1956.
WEALTH
• Himachal is one of those states in India which was
transformed from backward part of the country to one of
the most advanced states.
• At present Himachal ranks fourth in respect of per capita
income among the states of the Indian Union.
• Himachal education system is well established, its
agriculture is enough for its self-sufficiency.
