This document compares the specifications of a 7-inch high strength composite tubular (HSCT) to a conventional 7-inch steel casing. HSCT Loads are designed as strong as specific application requirements:
• Composite Properties:
o Young Modulus Hoop 21-25 GPa (depend on configuration)
o Young Modulus Axial 18-21 GPa (depend on configuration)
o Poisson Ratio is 0.30
• The HSCT values are modelled at ambient temperature with Abaqus
and FEM analysis and validated by 7” HSCT test results
• The HSCT values in the tables do not include any safety factor
• The required safety margins are determined for each project
individually, dependent on each load case specific (e.g. running
conditions, temperature range and life cycle requirements)
