This technology is basically used to make high resolution digital map to provide the real time data. This data can be processed and used to extract the useful information. A typical LIDAR system consists of three main components, a GPS system to provide position information, an INS unit for attitude determination, and a LASER system to provide range (distance) information between the LASER firing point and the ground point. In addition to range data, modern LIDAR systems can capture intensity images over the mapped area. Therefore, LIDAR is being more extensively used in mapping and GIS applications.

The new SKA Observatory (SKAO) intergovernmental organisation has been created, and the start of construction (T0) has already happened. In this talk we summarise the construction progress in our facility, and the role that software development, and in particular the development of our TANGO-based control system, is playing.

In this deck from the GPU Technology Conference, Wes Armour from the Oxford eResearch Centre discusses the role of GPUs in processing large amounts of astronomical data collected by the Square Kilometre Array and how CUDA is the best suited option for their signal processing software.
During his session at GTC 2019, Armour talked about AstroAccelerate, a GPU enabled software package that uses CUDA and NVIDIA GPUs to achieve real-time processing of radio-astronomy data. He stated that “The massive computational power of modern day GPUs allows code to perform algorithms such as de-dispersion, single pulse searching and Fourier Domain Acceleration Searching in real-time on very large data-sets which are comparable to those which will be produced by next generation radio-telescopes such as the SKA.”

The Square Kilometre Array is currently undergoing the Preliminary Design Reviews for its composing elements, and is thus at a critical point on its way to becoming ready for construction starting in 2018. In this talk we will provide an overview of the SKA, its composing elements, and their status, with emphasis on the Telescope Manager and the Science Data Processor, respectively the Monitoring & Control system, and Pipeline. We will see how do they compare with their ALMA equivalents, and how is the SKA similar/different from ALMA.
Systems Engineering (SE) is the set of processes and documentation required for successfully realising large-scale engineering projects, but the classical approach is not a good fit for software-intensive projects, especially when the needs of the different stakeholders are not fully known from the beginning, and requirement priorities might change. The SKA is the ultimate software-enabled telescope, with enormous amounts of computing hardware and software required to perform its data reduction. We give an overview of the system and software engineering processes in the SKA1 development, and the tension between classical and agile SE.
Astronomical Data Processing on the LSST Scale with Apache SparkDatabricks
The next decade promises to be exciting for both astronomy and computer science with a number of large-scale astronomical surveys in preparation. One of the most important ones is Large Scale Survey Telescope, or LSST. LSST will produce the first ‘video’ of the deep sky in history by continually scanning the visible sky and taking one 3.2 giga-pixel image every 20 seconds. In this talk we will describe LSST’s unique design and how its image processing pipeline produces catalogs of astronomical objects. To process and quickly cross-match catalog data we built AXS (Astronomy Extensions for Spark), a system based on Apache Spark. We will explain its design and what is behind its great cross-matching performance.

It is the concept of changing environmental conditions in near-between sun and earth
space. It is the description of changes in the ambient plasma, magnetic fields, radiation,
and other matter in space caused by the sun.
9. WHAT THE ARDUSAT WILL
USE TO WORK?
Some of the primary equipment onboard the
satellite will include Accelerometer, Gyroscope,
Camera, Geiger Counter, Infrared Thermometer,
Light Sensor, Magnetometer, Spectrometer, Sun
Sensors (Photodiodes) and Temperature Sensors.
10. WHY AN ARDUSAT?
• ArduSats are based on CubeSats, but CubeSats alone are still fairly
expensive—a few hundred grand. ArduSats are cheaper satellites and more
accessible that can be created by students or anyone interested in building a
satellite.
11. CAN WE USE AN ARDUSAT TO
STUDY SPACE WEATHER?
• Yes, the ardusat satellite has many sensors but the sensors that are used for
the ArduSat satellite depend on what are your expecting to analyze in your
investigation.
• Also some CubeSats have been send to study Space Weather, like the RAX
satellite and the RAX II.
• Since the ArduSat is a modificated CubeSat it can be modified to study the
Space Weather.
