WHAT IS MUSCLE ?
HUMAN MUSCULAR SYSTEM
Introduction :
It is one of the primary tissue in our body.
Primary tissues :
Epithelial tissue
Connective tissue
Muscle tissue
Nervous tissue
MUSCLE TISSUE :
It is a type of soft tissue in our body .
TYPES OF MUSCLE TISSUE:
SMOOTH MUSCLE
CARDIAC MUSCLE
SKELETAL MUSCLE
SKELETAL MUSCLE
These muscles are attaches with the skeletal system thorough tendon ,
which contract and relax order to produce movement.
FUNCTIONS :
Locomotion,
Maintaining body posture and position,
Maintaining body temperature,
Venous return,
Storage of nutrients ( glycogen )
Protection .
TYPES OF SKELETAL MUSCLES
MYOFIBRIL:
Light band or ‘I’ band .
Dark band or ‘A’ band .
SARCOMERE:
“ Structural and functional unit of skeletal muscle ”
It is also called basic contractile unit of the muscle. It extends between
two ‘Z’ lines .
It is a system of membranous structure in the form of vesicles and tubules
in the muscle fiber. Which surrounds the myofibril and embedded in
the sarcoplasm.
COMPONENTS :
T – tubules
L – tubules
Cisternae
Triad of skeletal muscle
SARCOTUBULAR SYSTEM
DEFINITION
“It is the junction between terminal branch of nerve fiber and muscle
fiber.”
Axon terminal
Motor end plate
Seminal vesicles
Acetylcholine
Muscle fiber .
NEUROMUSCULAR JUNCTION
SKELETAL MUSCLE CONTRACTION – SLIDING MECHANISM
RIGOR MORTIS ?
Thank you
