Looking at the title of Haruki Murakami's "On Seeing the 100% Perfect Girl One Beautiful April
Morning", the reader would most likely assume that the story is about love, which it is. Murakami
writes a story inside another story of a man who lets his perfect other walk right past him because he
couldn't decide on the perfect way to approach her. However, it is possible that, maybe, they walked
right past each other because they just weren't meant to be. The story is situated in a fashionable
neighborhood in Tokyo. On a narrow side street, the narrator walks past the 100% perfect girl. He
doesn't look at her for more than a moment, but he knows immediately that she is his perfect match.
"The moment I see her, there's a rumbling in my chest, and my mouth is as dry as a desert" (2). The
narrator is very certain of his feelings for her, even though she is not unusually eye–catching, nor is
she very young. Rather, she is around the age of thirty and in a disheveled state. "But still, I know
from fifty yards away: She's the 100% perfect girl for me" (2). The next day, the narrator recounts
the event to another man, possibly a friend, but he is unable to recall the exact features of the girl.
All he can remember is the feelings that were going through his chest at the time, which proves that
a person doesn't fall in love with the looks of a person but the heart.
The story goes on to relay the thoughts of the narrator in those few moments when he was looking
at the perfect girl. He wished he could talk to her, but he didn't know how to approach her. He
wished he could ask her out, but he was rendered speechless. "...explain to her the complexities of
fate that have led to our passing each other on a side street..." (15). It was fate that they should meet
and realize that they are perfect for each other. But how should he start up a conversation with her?
The narrator thinks of various ways to approach her, but none seem like the perfect way to convey

Final Essay In 1790, Immanuel Kant created a piece of work known as the Critique of Judgement.
In his work, the Critique of Judgement, Immanuel Kant moves his attention to focusing on
aesthetics and what truly makes a piece of art beautiful and pleasing to the eye. Up until around the
1780s Immanuel Kant did not particularly worry or concern himself with aesthetics and how that
judges an object or piece of art. It was only in the 1780s that Kant started to take an interest in the
aesthetic value of objects and pieces of art. According to Kant, for an object to truly be called
beautiful there are four "Moments" in which that particular object must go through. In the book, The
Routledge Companion to Aesthetics, Crawford tells us, "It is divided into four "Moments,"
corresponding to the headings of the table of judgements in the Critique of Pure Reason: quantity,
quality, relation and modality" (Crawford 52). Kant's theory of these four moments that an object
must go through in order for it to be called beautiful are a very elaborate but quite easy concept to

The Beauty of America Do you think there is such thing as real beauty or is it just an idea created by
society? We believe that beauty is one way and that if you do not follow or fit the criteria, then you
are not beautiful because you don't meet the standards. Media gives us their view of what beauty is
and how to define it. The media influences what beauty is but then the media's view of beauty is not
the only one. What we seem to think beauty is, is something that we want to have or want to be like
because we think that is the right beauty, but is it really? The magazine models we see are tall,
skinny, and light skinned that is what we are told is beauty because they are able to be on a runway
and covers of magazines. The beauty seen in the magazines and on runway may be beauty to some
people but for others it's not beauty because reality is that not how everyone looks like in America.
For me trying to look like the models was not something I want to do because I already was skinny
but I was not tall or light skin. I more than anything didn't used to like how I looked before I got to
college because I was really skinny and boney. To me that was not beautiful because I felt that I
really didn't have a figure because just about all my sisters have figure and I was the only really
skinny one and was called boney. So for me beauty is having curves and being happy with your

Kant And Bullough Analysis
Philosophers Immanuel Kant and Edward Bullough each believe that there is a clear difference
between the agreeable and the beautiful. One might note a similarity between these two
philosopher's writings and the works of philosopher David Hume. David Hume formed a standard
for the judgment of taste, where these philosophers create a standard for judgment based upon
beauty. Kant and Bullough concur that the agreeable is a critic's personal opinion: an opinion that
others are free to disagree with. It gratifies some desire of the senses. Kant believes that it is not up

By using these senses, one can decide whether something is pleasant or unpleasant, or good or bad.
As agreeable is based off of personal opinions and beliefs, others are free to disagree with it and it
does not necessarily lose its credibility. They also agree that beautiful is something that is not
necessarily judged by the senses, but something that all men need to agree upon. When someone
declares that something is beautiful, he is speaking on behalf of all men and it does not allow for a
personal opinion. Bullough touches on his view that distance is an important factor for something to
be considered beautiful. Both philosophers would agree that natural objects, such as sunlight and
other creations of nature, are worthy of being coined as beautiful as they are universally considered
as such. Pieces of art are additionally worthy of being considered beautiful as they are collectively

Snow can be one of the worlds most beautiful and ugliest creations. Once it first hit the ground
untouched, it's a lovely white blanket that covers the ground. But as soon as you step on it it
becomes a black yucky mess. Its sort of like a relationship. There's the good times where everything
goes right and you're all lovely dovely with the one you want to spend the rest of your life with.
Reality, unfortunately, won't just allow those kind of situations. Eventually you'll run into the bad
times where your relationship can take a turn for the worse and turn into a battlefield for war.

Beautiful Kabul Kabul is a beautiful poem, written by Saib–e–Tabrizi, that is an ode addressing the
city of Kabul. Throughout the poem Tabrizi describes the beauty of Kabul. The theme is Kabul is
beautiful. The literary devices in this poem are similes, personification,and allusion. These three
literary devices portray theme and describe how beautiful Kabul really is. The first literary device
that expresses the theme that Kabul is beautiful is personification. Throughout the poem Kabul is
addressed as a female and given female characteristics. In line one in the poem Tabrizi states, "The
beautiful city of Kabul wears a rugged mountain skirt"(Line one). In fact, Kabul is simply
surrounded by mountains. The use of personification allows the reader to see Kabul as a woman
wearing a skirt, many would agree that saying that Kabul is beautiful and wears a skirt seems more
appealing than saying Kabul is surrounded by mountains. The use of this example of personification
gives the attributes of feminine beauty to a region of land to express just how beautiful it truly is.
Another example of personification is found in stanza six, line 2. This line reads "Even the Tuba of
Paradise is jealous of their greenery" (Line 22). The Tuba Of Paradise is heaven in the Islamic faith
