The document provides guidelines for submitting manuscripts to the Aceh International Journal of Science and Technology (AIJST), including requirements for original research papers, review articles, short communications, and technical papers. 1. GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS
Aceh International Journal of Science and Technology (AIJST) is an international peer-
reviewed journal. The published paper was independently reviewed before by two
scientific reviewers and at least one editor. The AIJST publishes original research
papers, review papers, technical report and short communication.
Original Research Papers should report the results of original research. The material
should not have been previously published elsewhere. Articles are expected to
contribute new information (e.g. novel methods of analysis with added new insights and
impacts) to the knowledge in the field of sciences and technology in general.
Review Articles can cover either narrow disciplinary subjects or broad issues requiring
interdisciplinary discussion. It should provide objective critical evaluation of a defined
subject. Reviews should not consist solely of a summary of published data. Evaluation of
the quality of existing data, the status of knowledge, and the research required to
advance knowledge of the subject are essential.
Short Communications and Technical Papers are used to communicate results which
represent a major breakthrough or startling new discovery and which should therefore
be published quickly. They should not be used for preliminary results. Papers must
contain sufficient data to establish that the research has achieved reliable and significant
results. The Technical Papers should present new methods and procedures for either
research methodology or culture-related techniques.
Manuscripts must be written in Standard English and must not have been previously
published nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere at the time of
submission. (Note: Conference papers may only be submitted if the paper was not
originally copyrighted and if it has been completely re-written). Manuscripts should be of
a sufficient academic standard and should be of interest to educators, researchers and
practitioners.
Authors will need to separate the manuscript into three files (see submission preparation
checklist). Manuscripts must include an abstract of no more than 300 words, and
minimum four and maximum seven keywords. The abstract should concisely state the
content of the paper. The whole manuscript should be between 5000 -7000 words.
Manuscripts must be typed, double-line spaced, and use a 12 point of Garamond.
Margins should be at least 2.5 cm or 1 inch all round.
Authors must use SI units and internationally recognized terminology and symbols. The
reference must be provided at the end of the paper in alphabetical order. All graphics
and figures (if any) must be in good quality and should be attached directly in the body
of paper. Manuscripts should be prepared in A4 (210mm x 297mm) with single spaced.
Manuscript requirements:
1. A title should be provided concisely.
2. A brief autobiographical note should be supplied including:
a. Full name
b. Affiliation
c. E-mail address
d. Full international contact details
3. Manuscript should have an abstract maximum of 300 words in total with the
following structure:
a. Purpose (mandatory)
b. Design/methodology/approach (mandatory)

2. c. Findings (mandatory)
d. Research limitations/implications (if applicable)
e. Practical implications (if applicable)
Abstract should be constructed in a single paragraph and exclusive of any literature
review. Please provide minimum five and up to seven keywords which encapsulate the
principal topics of the paper.
4. Headings must be short, with a clear indication of the distinction between the
hierarchy of headings. The preferred format is for headings to be presented in bold
format, with consecutive numbering.
5. Each Figure and Table should be supplied within the article itself.
All Figures (charts, diagrams and line drawings) and Images (photographic images)
should be of clear quality, in black and white and numbered consecutively with Arabic
numerals. Figures created in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS
Excel, Illustrator and Freehandshould be saved in their native formats. Electronic
figures created in other applications should be copied from the origination software
and pasted into a blank MS Word document or saved and imported into a MS Word
document by choosing “Insert” from the menu bar, “Picture” from the drop-down
menu and selecting “From File…” to select the graphic to be imported.
4. Tables should be typed and included as part of the manuscript. They should not be
submitted as graphic elements. Supply succinct and clear captions for all tables,
figures and plates. Ensure that any superscripts or asterisks are shown next to the
relevant items and have corresponding explanations displayed as footnotes to the
table, figure or plate.
5. References to other publications must be in Harvard style and carefully checked for
completeness, accuracy and consistency. This is very important in an electronic
environment because it enables your readers to exploit the Reference Linking facility
on the database and link back to the works you have cited through CrossRef. At the
end of the paper a reference list in alphabetical order should be supplied:

6. Submission Preparation Checklist (All items required)
 The submission has not been previously published in English nor is it before
another journal for consideration.
 The text meets the formatting requirements as abovementioned.
 The submission file is in RTF or MS Word formats
 Before submissions, you have prepared 3 files:
File 1. The title of the paper, author(s) names, affiliation and complete
addresses, e-mail and fax number of authors, and an abstract, keywords, brief
biographical notes about authors and any acknowledgements
File 2. The text of the paper which is the title, an abstract, keywords, body of the
text including notes, tables, figure captions, figures, and list of references BUT
without the names of authors, their biographical notes or any acknowledgements
File 3. The cover letter
Be reminded that you have removed all author identification (names and
affiliations) and any acknowledgements from the main file (file 2) that you are
going to submit. Please make sure that authors’ names are not included in the
document/file properties as well.
Submission and The Review Process
Author(s) have to suggest at least potential reviewers when submitting their paper. The
paper has to pass an initial screening by editor, if it is judged suitable for this
publication, is then sent to two referees for double blind peer review. Manuscripts may
also be subject to additional review by editorial board members.

The AIJST is supported by Graduate School of Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh,
