India. You will be representing India as a country at all moments. 
Your actions, behaviour & words will be considered as a direct 
reflection of India & its culture. 
Hence it is extremely important for you to maintain a good code 
of conduct & represent India in the best way possible.

Inner & Outer Journey 
In AIESEC, we believe that every Exchange Participant goes through a strong 
inner & outer journey, which is depicted below:
Outer Journey 
1. Support System - Your EP Manager and your 
Hosting Entity responsible makes up a large 
portion of your support system. As you go through 
an intense life-changing experience such as the 
Global Community Development Program you 
need to ensure you have a guide to push you 
through the inner journey enabling your consistent 
reflection and learning. 
2. Interaction With Multiple Stakeholders - Part of 
what makes up the challenging environment is your 
interaction with a variety of stakeholders that will 
enable you to grow your network of people who 
care about the same things and open your mind to 
new possibilities and diversity. 
3. Challenging Role & Environment - Your job 
description and project whilst on your exchange 
enables you to travel to a new countries and not 
just be a tourist but to experience what it takes to 
live, survive and grow in this new environment 
4. Individual Responsibility & Goals - In order to 
facilitate an inner journey - you must have 
professional and personal goals that will drive 
your experience forward. Part of these goals will 
account for your professional responsibilities as 
part of your Job Description enabling your 
challenging role and environment.
Inner Journey 
1. Set Personal Goals - Goal setting is a powerful 
process, where you envision where you want to 
be & set ambitious yet achievable goals for 
yourself. Before you embark on your journey, set 
goals for yourself & your development. 
2. Reflect On Your XP - After you complete your 
experience, you must go through a process of 
group reflection. Why did we complete this 
project? Who did we benefit as a result of the 
project? Who did we meet? What did we learn 
about ourselves? What did we learn about our 
group? What did we observe about the service 
site? 
3. Understand Your Personal Values - 
Understanding of our own strengths, weaknesses 
& values. Acknowledge your strengths & 
understand your weaknesses & manage them 
accordingly. 
4. Reinvent Yourself - Reinvention happens based on 
the three elements mentioned above - goals, reflection 
& understanding. 
In this phase, you can reflect about those questions: 
>How were you before the internship and why you 
decided to go? >What did you do during the 
internship? 
>What has been the most challenging and how it 
impacted you ? >What did you learn about yourself? 
About others? 
>How is you after the internship in few sentences ?

In order to have fun during 
your experience, have a 
curiosity for exploration & 
adventure. 
Document your experience 
using a daily diary & pictures. 
Remember you will not be 
alone, you will be with people 
from different nationalities - 
get to know them! 
Research well about the country 
& hosting local committee 
before you leave so that you 
have the right expectations. 
To avoid financial problems, 
research well in advance about 
the currency of the country you 
are visiting. 
Carry some extra/emergency 
money with you. 
Try traveling to neighbouring 
cities to explore their cultures. 
Carry some Indian items to 
give out to friends you’ll make 
during the experience. 
Instead of carrying cash, try 
taking an international debit 
card/travel card.
Dealing With Situations 
Sometimes you might face an unexpected situation, here is what you need to do about it. 
Always carry the address of the 
host family/accommodation. Have 
the local number of 3 AIESEC

  • 3. Representing India When you will be on exchange, you will be an Ambassador of India. You will be representing India as a country at all moments. Your actions, behaviour & words will be considered as a direct reflection of India & its culture. Hence it is extremely important for you to maintain a good code of conduct & represent India in the best way possible. - Showcase India - Be A Role Model (Behaviours/Beliefs) - Be A Proud Indian
  • 4. Inner & Outer Journey In AIESEC, we believe that every Exchange Participant goes through a strong inner & outer journey, which is depicted below:
  • 5. Outer Journey 1. Support System - Your EP Manager and your Hosting Entity responsible makes up a large portion of your support system. As you go through an intense life-changing experience such as the Global Community Development Program you need to ensure you have a guide to push you through the inner journey enabling your consistent reflection and learning. 2. Interaction With Multiple Stakeholders - Part of what makes up the challenging environment is your interaction with a variety of stakeholders that will enable you to grow your network of people who care about the same things and open your mind to new possibilities and diversity. 3. Challenging Role & Environment - Your job description and project whilst on your exchange enables you to travel to a new countries and not just be a tourist but to experience what it takes to live, survive and grow in this new environment 4. Individual Responsibility & Goals - In order to facilitate an inner journey - you must have professional and personal goals that will drive your experience forward. Part of these goals will account for your professional responsibilities as part of your Job Description enabling your challenging role and environment.
  • 6. Inner Journey 1. Set Personal Goals - Goal setting is a powerful process, where you envision where you want to be & set ambitious yet achievable goals for yourself. Before you embark on your journey, set goals for yourself & your development. 2. Reflect On Your XP - After you complete your experience, you must go through a process of group reflection. Why did we complete this project? Who did we benefit as a result of the project? Who did we meet? What did we learn about ourselves? What did we learn about our group? What did we observe about the service site? 3. Understand Your Personal Values - Understanding of our own strengths, weaknesses & values. Acknowledge your strengths & understand your weaknesses & manage them accordingly. 4. Reinvent Yourself - Reinvention happens based on the three elements mentioned above - goals, reflection & understanding. In this phase, you can reflect about those questions: >How were you before the internship and why you decided to go? >What did you do during the internship? >What has been the most challenging and how it impacted you ? >What did you learn about yourself? About others? >How is you after the internship in few sentences ? >How will this experience influence your life?
  • 7. Before You Leave 1.0 - Research About The Country & City About Your Project 1. Tradition & culture of the country you are going to. 2. Clothing - What is appropriate/inappropriate 3. Currency Value 4. People 5. Transportation modes & costs 6. Places to visit 1. Purpose & objectives of the project 2. Target audience - who will you be interacting with 3. Research about the issue on which the project is based 4. Ground realities of the issue 5. Your job role, job description

Before You Leave 2.0 - Things To Carry CONTACT LIST OF AIESECERS IN HOST ENTITY CONTACT LIST OF AIESECERS IN SENDING ENTITY CONTACT OF INDIAN EMBASSY IN THE COUNTRY YOU ARE GOING TO MEDICINES YOU MIGHT REQUIRE CURRENCY (USD/EUR AS THEY CAN BE EASILY EXCHANGED) WEATHER APPROPRIATE CLOTHING & FOOTWEAR LAPTOP & CELL PHONE CREAMS, LOTIONS ETC. ACCORDING TO WEATHER CAMERA TO CAPTURE YOUR XP PASSPORT WITH VALID VISA OTHER RELEVANT ID PROOFS RETURN FLIGHT TICKETS - CARRY AT LEAST 5 COPIES
  • 9. Tips & Tricks In order to have fun during your experience, have a curiosity for exploration & adventure. Document your experience using a daily diary & pictures. Remember you will not be alone, you will be with people from different nationalities - get to know them! Research well about the country & hosting local committee before you leave so that you have the right expectations. To avoid financial problems, research well in advance about the currency of the country you are visiting. Carry some extra/emergency money with you. Try traveling to neighbouring cities to explore their cultures. Carry some Indian items to give out to friends you’ll make during the experience. Instead of carrying cash, try taking an international debit card/travel card.
  • 10. Dealing With Situations Sometimes you might face an unexpected situation, here is what you need to do about it. Always carry the address of the host family/accommodation. Have the local number of 3 AIESEC representatives of the local committee. NO AIRPORT PICK UP? RAN OUT OF MONEY? Carry some emergency cash with you. It is also advisable to carry an international debit card. LOST/ STUCK IN A PROBLEM? Carry the local number of 3 AIESEC representatives at all points. Always keep your passport with you while traveling. Have the Indian embassy number. UNPLEASANT SITUATION Always stay in touch with an AIESEC representative from your home city. Inform them about any situations that you might find unpleasant or unacceptable.
  • 11. Your Feed back Matters! DURING YOUR EXPERIENCE, YOU WILL RECEIVE A SURVEY FROM AIESEC ASKING YOU ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE. ! IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO FILL THIS SURVEY IN ORDER TO LET THE SENDING AS WELL AS THE HOSTING COMMITTEE KNOW HOW THEY CAN MAKE YOUR EXPERIENCE BETTER. ! APART FROM THIS, ALWAYS STAY IN TOUCH WITH YOUR LOCAL AIESEC REPRESENTATIVE TO LET HIM/HER KNOW HOW YOUR EXPERIENCE IS GOING!
  • 12. Once You’re Back YOUR AIESEC EXPERIENCE HAS JUST BEGUN! ONCE YOU’RE BACK FROM YOUR YGEP EXPERIENCE, YOU CAN JOIN YOUR LOCAL AIESEC OFFICE AS A TEAM MEMBER & FURTHER ENABLE MORE SUCH EXPERIENCES FOR OTHER YOUNG STUDENTS. ! YOU CAN BECOME AN AIESEC AMBASSADOR AND HELP US TAKE OUR PROGRAMS TO MORE PEOPLE. ! YOU CAN ALWAYS TAKE UP ANOTHER EXCHANGE EXPERIENCE! : )
