Well students,
That’s enough learning for Agree and Disagree.
So, How to applicate the expressions above in dialogues, let’s see the example below carefully!
A. This is a dialogue between someone with his friends to plan going to the beach.
EXAMPLE OF AGREEMENT:
John : Hello, Patrick. How are you now?
Patrick : I’m okay John and you?
John : I’m really okay today. Is she your friend?
Patrick : Owh, I forget something. She is my new friend,
she comes from Pontianak, her name is Chelsea.
John : Hello, Chelsea. Nice to meet you.
Chelsea : Nice to meet you too, John.
If you don’t have any plan to do today, I have a special event for both of you.
I ask you to go together with me to the beach at ten o’clock this morning.
Patrick : Wow, that’s a very good idea to do, well I agree with your opinion.
How about you, John?
John : Actually I couldn’t join you. I have a plan to repair my motorcycle today.
Chelsea : Come on, John. We are friends now, please joint us for now.
John : Okay, I join you to go but how do we go to the beach guys?
Chelsea : Don’t worry about it. My father let me go by my car, who can drive it for us?
Patrick : No problem, I will do it for us. Let’s go now!
B. This is an example of dialogue between a teacher and Students Organization in a special
meeting to program an event during covid-19 situation.
AGREEMENT EXAMPLE:
Mr. Jatu : Well students, especially the members of Students Organization’s staff, we will
plan to hold a competition program to celebrate Pangudi Luhur Foundation
Anniversary. What program is really properly for now?
Alfred : As far I learn, it’s better for us to hold a competition through internet media.
I say it due to a serious problem faced by our government, Covid 19. In this case
we can hold an English Speech Competition or Singing Competition.
Jessica : I think it’s good idea to do during this situation. I truly agree with Alfred’s
opinion.
Mr. Jatu : Other opinion, please?
Sesi : It’s too difficult to do something in this unsafe situation. I also have the same
idea with Alfred and John to hold a competition through internet media.
The proper competition for me is Singing Competition, by this matter many
students can explore their capabilities in singing.
Christian : Well, nothing to be doubted anymore. Let’s prepare to hold this competition.
Mr. Jatu : Everybody here, can we do this so far?
Alfred, as the leader of Students Organization at school, please you lead this
meeting and then after everything’s done well, tell me about this program
completely. Can you? I must leave this meeting because of an urgent work to do.
Alfred : Of course, I can sir. Thanks for your believe in me.
C. This dialogue situation is about how to decide something together with friends.
EXAMPLE DISAGREEMENT:
Vincent : Hi Willy, where are you going now?
Willy : I don’t go anywhere. Actually I want to accomplish my Mathematics assignment.
Do we have a plan to do?
Vincent : If you have no program today, let’s go to “Air Mata Permai” beach.
Can you go together with me?
Willy : Why not. Okay, let’s go now but how is about my work?
Suddenly, one of their friend James is coming to them.
James : Hi, what are you talking about, Willy and Vincent?
Both of you look very serious now.
I heard that you would go to the beach, didn’t you?
Vincent : I ask Willy to go to the beach together with me now.
James : Do you still remember that Mr. Benny gave an English experiment to make
a procedure text, and the deadline is tomorrow. I mean, if you have spare time
today, it’s better for us to do the project now. I completely disagree of going to
the beach for now. We don’t have more time to finish the work. How about you
Willy?
Willy : I agree your idea to finish the work first. If we have more time after finishing it,
we can go to the beach. What do you think about it, Vincent?
That’s an English group assignment, right?
Vincent : You are right. Okay, we finish the work then we can go to the beach if it’s
possible.
James : So, don’t stay on the way. Let’s go to my house to accomplish our project and
then we have lunch together there, I will ask my mother to cook food for us.
D. Disagreement conversation about the death penalty.
EXAMPLE DISAGREEMENT
Chendy : Hi Luke, what are you reading?
Luke : I am reading this book about death penalty. It’s said that death penalty started in
eighteenth century.
Chendy : That’s interesting. How about now? Is the death penalty still used?
Luke : Yes, in some countries. It’s also used in our country, especially for the people
those who smuggle large narcotics package.
Chendy : That’s horrible. I don’t completely agree with the death penalty.
Luke : Why?
Chendy : It’s because the death penalty violates the right to life. We’re not God, so it’s not
our job to determine someone must die.
Luke : That’s interesting point. I have to agree with you, but in some cases a country can
practice the rule of the death penalty. The reason is not because we are not God or
we are God but the most important thing is that the death penalty rule is to make
the narcotics smuggler to be deterrent.
Chendy : As far I think in my mind, you are right with it. Thank you very much for your
information.
Luke : You are welcome.
E. Another Example of Disagreement in passing the certain road
EXAMPLE DISAGREEMENT
Fico : Don’t forget to turn left after the traffic light.
Tasya : Are you sure?
Fico : Yes, of course. Turn left now!
Tasya : Oops! (Ups!)
Fico : Why didn’t you turn left? It’s the shortest way to get to the place we want to visit.
Tasya : I don’t think so. If we turned left, we would be stuck in the traffic jam.
Do you want to get the traffic? The journey would take some more time if we get
in the traffic jam.
Fico : All right. I try to believe you, let’s define whether you’re right or not.
Tasya : Please believe me. This road is the best route to get the place we visit faster.
Fico : Right, It is long distance and it takes more time but there’s no traffic jam along
this road. Thanks for your suggestion to go straight this way.
Tasya : You are welcome.

If you don’t have any plan to do today, I have a special event for both of you. I ask you to go together with me to the beach at ten o’clock this morning. Patrick : Wow, that’s a very good idea to do, well I agree with your opinion.
  • 3. B. This is an example of dialogue between a teacher and Students Organization in a special meeting to program an event during covid-19 situation. AGREEMENT EXAMPLE: Mr. Jatu : Well students, especially the members of Students Organization’s staff, we will plan to hold a competition program to celebrate Pangudi Luhur Foundation Anniversary. What program is really properly for now? Alfred : As far I learn, it’s better for us to hold a competition through internet media. I say it due to a serious problem faced by our government, Covid 19. In this case we can hold an English Speech Competition or Singing Competition. Jessica : I think it’s good idea to do during this situation. I truly agree with Alfred’s opinion. Mr. Jatu : Other opinion, please? Sesi : It’s too difficult to do something in this unsafe situation. I also have the same idea with Alfred and John to hold a competition through internet media. The proper competition for me is Singing Competition, by this matter many students can explore their capabilities in singing. Christian : Well, nothing to be doubted anymore. Let’s prepare to hold this competition. Mr. Jatu : Everybody here, can we do this so far? Alfred, as the leader of Students Organization at school, please you lead this meeting and then after everything’s done well, tell me about this program completely. Can you? I must leave this meeting because of an urgent work to do. Alfred : Of course, I can sir. Thanks for your believe in me. C. This dialogue situation is about how to decide something together with friends. EXAMPLE DISAGREEMENT: Vincent : Hi Willy, where are you going now? Benny gave an English experiment to make a procedure text, and the deadline is tomorrow. I mean, if you have spare time today, it’s better for us to do the project now. I completely disagree of going to the beach for now. We don’t have more time to finish the work. How about you Willy? Willy : I agree your idea to finish the work first. If we have more time after finishing it, we can go to the beach. What do you think about it, Vincent? That’s an English group assignment, right? Vincent : You are right. Okay, we finish the work then we can go to the beach if it’s
  • 4. possible. James : So, don’t stay on the way. Let’s go to my house to accomplish our project and then we have lunch together there, I will ask my mother to cook food for us. D. Disagreement conversation about the death penalty. EXAMPLE DISAGREEMENT Chendy : Hi Luke, what are you reading? Luke : I am reading this book about death penalty. It’s said that death penalty started in eighteenth century. Chendy : That’s interesting. How about now? Is the death penalty still used? Luke : Yes, in some countries. It’s also used in our country, especially for the people those who smuggle large narcotics package. Chendy : That’s horrible. I don’t completely agree with the death penalty. Luke : Why? Chendy : It’s because the death penalty violates the right to life. We’re not God, so it’s not our job to determine someone must die. Luke : That’s interesting point. I have to agree with you, but in some cases a country can practice the rule of the death penalty. The reason is not because we are not God or we are God but the most important thing is that the death penalty rule is to make the narcotics smuggler to be deterrent. Chendy : As far I think in my mind, you are right with it. Thank you very much for your information. Luke : You are welcome. E. Do you want to get the traffic? The journey would take some more time if we get in the traffic jam. Fico : All right. I try to believe you, let’s define whether you’re right or not. Tasya : Please believe me. This road is the best route to get the place we visit faster. Fico : Right, It is long distance and it takes more time but there’s no traffic jam along this road.
