This document defines and describes various types of advertising. It discusses brand advertising which aims to establish long-term identity, as well as retail or local advertising which encourages customers to visit local stores. Other types covered include political, directory, direct-response, business-to-business, institutional, public service, interactive, and radio advertising. The document concludes by providing activities for writing a radio advertisement script and creating a mind map of the advertising types.

2. What is advertising
The activity of profession of producing advertisements
for commercial products or services.

3. Brand Advertising
Commonly seen type of advertising where brands make
an effort to establish long term identity or image in the
minds of the customer.

4. Retail or Local Advertising
Advertising done by local stores. This aims to encourage
traffic to come into the store.

5. Political Advertising
Advertising that promotes politicians.

6. Directory Advertising
Type of advertising that shows a listing of companies,
products or services the most popular.

7. Direct-Response Advertising
Direct way of stimulating a response, usually a sale
through direct contact to prospect via mail, telephone,
e-mail and now short messaging system.

8. Bussiness-to-Bussines Advertising
A type of advertising focuses on a certain niche in the
business industry
Niche : the situation in which a business's products or
services can succeed by being sold to a particular kind or
group of people

9. Institutional Advertising
Known as Corporate Advertising, where in the message
is focused on establishing a general look or identity of
a company.

10. Public Service Advertising
The message communicates in behalf of a good cause or
prevention of a bad situation from happening.

11. Interactive Advertising
Advertising run by web pages or via digital media.
