1. ADVERB
Example:-
Ali runs quickly.
This is a very sweet Apple.
She reads quite clearly.
An adverb is a word that modifies the meaning of a verb (He sings loudly), an
adjective (very tall), an adverb(ended too quickly) is called an Adverb.

1.Adverbs of Time.
2.Adverbs of Place.
3.Adverbs of Manner.
4.Adverbs of Degree or Quantity.
5.Adverbs of Number and Frequency.
6.Adverbs of Affirmation or Negation.
3. ADVERBS OF TIME
It shows when an action takes place. They include: ago, before, already, early,
immediately, late, now, them, soon, since, presently, today, tomorrow etc.
Example:-
He came late.
I met him long ago.
I have heard this before.
I had a letter from him lately.
• He comes here daily.
4. Adverbs of place
It shows where an action takes place. They include:- here, there, up, inside, outside,
within, without, above, below, down, far, near, in, out etc.
Example:-
Stand here.
He looked up.
Walk backward.
My brother is out.
Please come in.
5. Adverbs of Manner
• It shows how an action takes place.They are mostly made by adding 'ly' to adjectives.They
include:- nicely, badly, quickly, slowly, clearly, easily, neatly etc. Hard, fast do not take –ly but
are also adverbs.
Example:-
This story is well written.
The child slept soundly.
The Muslims fought bravely.
The boy works hard.
He sat in the chair comfortably.
6. Adverbs of Degree or Quantity
It shows how much, or in what degree or to what extent an action has been done.
They include:- very, much, too, quite, almost, any, fully, rather, enough, so, partly,
altogether, pretty, entirely etc.
Example:-
He was too careless.
These mangoes are almost ripe.
I am fully prepared.
The sea is very stormy.
She sings pretty well.
7. Adverbs of Number and Frequency
It show the number or how often an action takes place. They include:- never, often,
seldom, always, once, twice, thrice, again, frequently etc.
Example:-
I have told you twice.
He often makes mistakes.
The postman called again.
He frequently comes unprepared.
He seldom comes here.
8. Adverbs of Affirmation and Negation
It show belief or disbelief. They include:- yes, no, not, indeed, certainly, surely,
perhaps, little, by all means.
Example:-
Surely, you are mistaken.
He certainly went.
I do not know him.
No, he will not come.
