Here are some key points regarding the technical and aesthetic qualities of your work:
- Technically, the game is simple with basic graphics and animation. This is understandable given the scope and time constraints of the project. More complex technical elements like detailed sprites, particle effects, lighting, etc. were not possible.
- The animation is functional but basic, using only a few frames to convey movement. More advanced animation techniques were not employed.
- Aesthetically, the pixel art style and side-scrolling platformer genre draw inspiration from classic games like Terraria and Space Invaders. This provides familiar visual language for players.
- While simple, the visuals are clear and serve the gameplay purpose. Readability

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Who The story is based around an Greek farmer that has to deal with the struggles of the tyrant. Little does he know his entire world is about to change
with the arrival of the Virus
What The virus had grown and infected the plains of polaris resulting in almost full world domination, and now its up to the humble farmer to
set the balance.
Why I based it around this because it takes the protagonist on a long winding adventure through many different environments and makes the
protagonist learn about themselves in the progress.
When This is set in the same time period of ancient Greek when people believed in mythology and if the gods were upset then they’d send
down plagues to rid the world of the mistake.
Where This is based on the planet of polaris in the andromeda galaxy this means that the planet is open to unknown entities within the galaxy.
How
4. Character type How they appear in your story
The Hero They appear as a simple ancient Greek village farmer that grew up rough, he spent most of his time at sea to get
away from the troubles of the cities tyrant. The farmer thinks the tyrant was bad, but just wait till he discovers the
troubles ahead of him.
The Villain the virus, they comes across as a “parasite” that is taking over the planet. The take over the cities of polaris
The Helper The farmer meets a group of ex service men who listen to the farmer talking about the virus taking over. They join
the fight against the virus.
The Donor they don’t have any donors.
The Dispatcher a guide that tells the farmer that the entire planet of polaris is at stake if “the virus” takes over.
The Princess or prize The “prize” is that the tyrant steps down and the humble farmer becomes ruler.
The Princess’s Father There is no “princess’s farther
The False Hero One of the ex service men tries to take all the credit when the virus is defeated and tries to take the throne for
themselves.
6. Idea 1
Who A 20 year old British guy called Elijah, the british popultion, Elijah's family ((brother)Jackson, (sister) Lilly, (mum) Rebecca,
(dad) Freddie).
What Elijah tries to escape his own suffocating reality by making a new one. The word gets out of his idea to the entire british
population and people try to stop him by doing all means necessary. The only people that are by his side are his family,
who do all they can to stop everyone from destroying the only chance at a new life.
Why Britain is ruled by a tyranic monarchy that controls every little movement or decision you make. The entirety of britain
have had implants that can be controlled by the monarchy themself, but not Elijahs' family. The monarchy makes life for
Elijah very suffocating.
When This is based in the year of 2720 when technology has advanced so much that people can now make their own reality with
the right equipment. But it was made illegal in the year 2697 because too many realities were created in the little time
they were legal.
Where It was set in the smallest city in North yorkshire, Ripon. The small city has only grown a small amount. But
the technological side has more than tripled.
How Elijah felt really suffocated and trapped in a reality which he doesn’t want to be in. So he took it into his
own initiative to create his own reality.
7. Idea 2
Who Jack, peyton, grayson, aubry and Ash
What The five best friends take on a post-appocoliptic world as social medias take over the world controlled by a
psychotic AI. They have tohead south through california and go through tretcherous terrain, through the
laborynth streets of San Fransico, and finally destroy the servers.
Why This is happening because there was an error in the coding that no one had noticed. By the time someone
had noticed the error, it was too late and the AI had become global destroying anything that could pose a
threat.
When This is happeinig during july 2021 and it takes the teenagers a couple weeks before they reach the server
farm.
Where This is all taking place in the state of California, USA.
How An error in the systems coding somehow mutaded and became a psychotic AI capable of planetary
distruction.
8. Idea 3
Who Jason, elizabeth, bella, noah and Artemis
What All undertake 7 separately increasing challenges that are almost impossible to overcome unless you have the
right people with you. They get split up through this and some ones' puzzle might correspond with someone
else's and vice versa.
Why Because Jason, elizabeth, bella, noah and Artemis were in an abandoned building when they found an
old riddle enscripted ito the wall. "yee who unravel this riddle, will undertake a fatal dare. Be careful for
these will become troublesome."
When This is set in the 2010
Where Its set in south side of texas, USA.
How Jason discovered the riddle and he speculated that it was put there on purpose the previous owners of the
property.
11. Existing Product Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is a 2018 American computer-animated
super hero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Miles Morales,
produced by Columbia pictures and Sony pictures animation in association
with Marvel. The main protagonist miles morales is bitten by a spider and
becomes a spiderman. The main enemy of the movie, King pin breaks the
fabric of time and space thus putting multiple Spiderman's come into
Miles's reality.
This use of timelines is where multiple come into one is where I got the
idea of creating alternate realities to try escape.
Theres a use of visible and vibrant colours which would create a sense
of futurism. Similar colour schemes are typically based in animated
movies such as "despicable me" with the colour of the minions, or vector
with his bright orange tracksuit.
12. Existing Product
Ready player one:
The main protagonist Wayde Watts spends most
of his time in the "oasis" a massive virtual reality
to escape the troubles of the real world. The
Enemy known as "IOI" try to get to the "Easter
egg" first doing anything they can to stop wayde.
The colour scheme is extremely bright but also
dark. This contrast can create a sense of position
because of the colours orientations. The
positioning of the characters takes on a very
"old/new" style from other films such as star
wars.
Both posters stick with two differet colours.
Ready player one sticks with purple and yellow
where as star wars sticks with red and blue.
13. Existing Product Altered Carbon:
Altered Carbon is an American
cyberpunk series created by
Laete Kalogridis and based on the
2002 novel of the same title by English
author Richard K. Morgan.
A person's memories and consience are
written into a disk which is installed into
the vertebre. When they die they can be
transferred to a different "sleeve"
esentially making them live forever.
I got an idea from altered carbon by the
use of advanced technology.
It includes rough similarities
to spiderman poster with the
protagonist in the foreground and with a
city in the background. A difference in
these posters are th colour scheme
where spiderman is an extremely warm
pallet, altered carbon is colder.
14. Existing Product
Gamer (2009):
Gamer is a 2009
American science fiction action
film written and directed by Mark
Neveldine and Brian Taylor.
In 2034, Ken Castle invents self-
replicating nanites that replace brain
tissue and allow humans to control other
humans' actions and see through their
eyes.
I got an idea from this because in
my story the villain uses similar
technology to control britain.
The posters have design similarities with
close shots of their faces.
15. Research Summary
• What have you learned from your research?
I have learned that movies posters tend to take inspiration of other ones, I have also learned that a lot of movie have either a
open, wide and bright colour scheme, but others have a closed and dull colour scheme, these can both affect if youre
catching your target audiences' attention.
• What aspects of the research will you include within your on work?
The aspects I will include I my work will be:
• The use of alternate realities (spiderman into the spiderverse)
• The villain (taylored to my story)(ready player one)
• The advancement in technology (altered carbon)
• The "nanex" the technology that controls what the protagonist sees/does (gamer 2009)

22. Script Elijah - (crying violently) I cant do this anymore!.
Freddie - [grips Elijah by the shoulders] Don’t say that! If you cant do it anymore then do something
long forgotten.. [all goes quiet] [with Elijah visibly confused, Freddie he whispers in his ear] “go make a
reality before its too late”
Elijah - [Elijahs eyes widen with disbelief]
Rebecca – [looks at Freddie in shock]
Lilly – I thought they were illegal
Elijah – they are..
[cuts to scene in elijahs garage with part of the portal all ready complete]
Elijah – We need to get this done soon before King Phillip III discovers what were up to. Luckily I only
need 2 more components to get it complete and working.
Lilly – we have no idea what we need though!
Elijah – I know. That’s why were going to improvise.
[king Phillip III finds out and sends thousands upon thousands of people to stop Elijah]
Extra 1 – [blocking Elijahs path to get the second component] Stop. You’re out numbered 20/1. [tries
to convince Elijah] this life has everything you need. Everything you could want.
Extra 2 – why throw it away like this? By trying to create a new reality?
Elijah – because I don’t want this reality. There couldn’t be anything more wrong about this reality.
23. Sound Effects
Sound Effect
Needed
How I Will Create the Sound
explosion Use some sort of drum kit and distort the outcome
footsteps Record myself walking in a quiet area
Fuse ignition Cook something with oil (bacon)
Damage noise Snap a pencil or something similar to give a cracking noise
Jump noise Use something similar to mario, with a sort of whistle
Speech Go onto text to speech and type in random letters to try create a
distorted noise
24. Actors/Locations
Actor Role Location for recording
Tom Holland Elijah Ripon, North Yorkshire, UK
Britt Robertson Lilly Ripon, North Yorkshire, UK
Maia Mitchell rebecca Ripon, North Yorkshire, UK

26. Contingency
What can go wrong? What can you do if it does?
Someone could injure themself. If the injury isn't very serious, stop shooting for a
while to let the, recover. If it's serious the stop
shooting all together. Until they're fully healed.
Software could fail and corrupt the work. Back up any footage gathered in case of if it does
corrupt
Timing for a certain shot If it isn't shot in a certain timeframe then we'd have to
postpone production until the next day.
Someone could fall ill shortly before production starts Have someone ready to be there just in case someone
doesn’t turn up for production.
Continuity throughout the shot The timing and lighting changes, so it'd be best to
review the captured footage.
Weather forecasts Have back up locations just in case there's any serious
weather throughout/before the production day
27. Risk Assessment
What could be a risk to you, others or the
equipment?
How can you make sure that doesn’t happen? What
will you do if it does?
Loose wires because people can trip on them and
equipment could shorten out
Make sure wires are visible and that there is a cable
manager just in case there are any wires that arent
highlighted
Bright/Flashing/Hot lights Make sure no one touches the hot lights in the studio.
The lights might be too bright and could cause
headaches. Flashing lights can be a danger to people
with epilepsy.
Heavy equipment It might be carried somewhere else and it could fall
and possibly injure a crew/cast member.
Allergens Consider the people allergies, such as the food
ordered to keep the cast and crew fed.
pandemics If one of the cast or crew arrives with symptoms of
COVID-19 then everyone would have to self-isolate,
then carry on production after the isolation is over
29. Using your plans, produce:
• A synopsis for your film
• A video game that would support your film, to include a menu screen,
demo level and cut scene
• Sound track for the video game
• A magazine front cover, promoting the film
• Additional advertising to promote the film
Include synopsis, magazine cover and advertising in this pro forma.
Animation to be embedded in your blog.
30. synopsis
Equilibrium: a young man called elijah is living in a tyranical reality, where elijah cant do anything he
wants to do. Elijah cant take the pressure anymore and decides to do something about it.
Disruption: Elijah only needs 2 more parts before the portal to the new reality is completed and
must improvise and travel for the parts because he couldn’t find them anywhere as they became
illegal.
Recognition: the tyrants finds out about elijahs plan and decides to do something about it. They
send the local popultion to disrupt elijahs plans.
Attempt to repair: elijah gatheres all the necsecary components and constructs the portal to the
new reality.
New equilibrium: everything is okay for a few millenia, then it goes back to the way it was before he
created the reality
(it then loops back to the beginning and starts over again)
32. Research
• Strength: I gathered quite a lot of information for what I researched.
• Strength: I used knowledge of what I know about games (not about movies)
• My research gave me an open choice of what I could base my game around, I could've increased
my search radius to bring in more information forme to choose from.
• Weakness: I could've spent more time doing research
• Weakness: the sources used werent very informative so I had to use quite a few.
I could've increased my search radius to bring in more information for me to choose from. This has
had a big impact on my research by limitting me to the sources I used.
33. Planning
• Strength: I went through many experiments on how my game and movie could go.
• Strength: I'm happy with the choice of character design and the games' setting as they fit well
together.
The experiments I had done helped me decide on my final character design and setting design.
• Weakness: I could've been a bit more creative with character design, instead of setting it/them of
something that already exists.
• Weakness: I could've also spent a bit more time on the planning as I feel like it was rushed.
I couldve experimented with other character designs, that couldve changed the outcome of
my games design. This would've influenced my work by changing how my game looks.
34. Time Management
I didn’t manage my time well at all and it is something I'd need to
improve ASAP as it could be crutial in the future.
Im working overtime to get the entire project done before we start the
FMP on the 22nd as I missed a section in the proforma.
I don’t think my game would've improved much more if I did have more
time as im happy with how it had turned out.
If I did have more time with this project, I wouldve extended the
animation and try fit some more in.
35. Technical Qualities
My work is no-where near the level of detail on which some games can get to. Take terraria for example, they
have a lot of detail in a single block. 1 block for mine is just 1 solid colour.
I wouldn’t say my work is technically detailed or complicated. As the most complicated thing in my work is the
animation of my game, and even my game itself doesn’t contain a lot of detail.
If I wanted some sort of effect such as a portal, then I'd quickly have to switch back and forth between 2
seperate frames. I wouldn’t say my animation is very technically proficiant because
36. Aesthetic Qualities
There are movement similarities in my game and space invaders where there are only 2
separate frames showing that movement. It also has similarities to terraria on how it’s a side
moving platformer.
I would say mine is aesthetically pleasing. I haven't used any effects or techniques to improve
the aesthetic quality, I believe i do have some sort of consistancy in it, but I feel like I could
make that consistancy to be longer.
37. Aural Qualities
I think my work does sound good, but the background music seems to be very crowded and not very open.
Take terraria for example, their music sounds open, not very crowded and it's fun to listen to.
Here is a link below to the music.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x23I8f9PwlI&t=35s
Ive used the desert music from mario to draw the main piece of inspiration, then worked from there onwards,
so I would say that it is creative.
I like the way I can manipulate the way It sounds to try help it match the scenery exactly.
I would improve how crowded the music feels and sounds.
A strength of this is that it fits the scenery well and that it fits the tone.
A weakness is that I feel like it's too crowded and that it'll distract the player from the game itself.
38. Audience Appeal
Games that are based around pixels tend to be popular such as tetris, space invaders, snake. Even if they're not
as common they're just as popular, with minecraft, terraria, dead cells and others.
So, my target audience would be people from the age range of 7-18. As these tend to be the ages that'd
prefer to play similar games. So, I feel like I have appealed to my target audience because a specific part of this
is that pixel games tend to be simple and easy to understand with minimalistic controls/objectives.
39. Overall strengths and weaknesses of the final
package.
Strength: I'd say a strength of this, is that the quality isnt too bad seen as though this is my first-time animation
anything.
Strength: The design and colour scheme choice. These play a crutial part in how well my game would catch on.
I think I chose a good character design and colour scheme
Weakness: I could've improved the quality by making the canvas slightly bigger which would allow me to
include more detail.
Weakness: the length of the animation. The length of it, is short but I'd say that it was well done for the length
of it.
