Explanations For Breast Cancer
Diagnosis is the process of finding the cause of a health problem. This problem is detected
through physical examination. Most of the tests to find out if you have breast cancer also show
the stage of where your cancer is at. The following are a few tests done for diagnosis. Medical
History test is a record of present symptoms, risk factors and medical events/problems a person
has had in the past. This includes a personal history of breast disease or breast cancer, hormone
replacement therapy, previous radiation therapy to the chest, and a family history of breast cancer,
other cancers and symptoms that may relate to breast cancer. A Physical examination a doctor will

All specialists specialize in different things such as surgery, radiation therapy and others in
chemotherapy. Treatment plans are designed to meet needs of people with cancer. Decisions for
breast cancer are based on, the stage of the breast cancer. Treatment options for breast cancer are
surgery, in most cases a woman would be able to choose which type of breast cancer she would
like to do. Although these are the options, breast conserving surgery, followed by radiation therapy
or modified radical mastectomy. Other surgical procedures that may be done include axillary lymph
node dissection or sentinel lymph node biopsy offered in certain situations. Radiation therapy
external beam radiation therapy is always given after breast conserving surgery. It is sometimes
given after a mastectomy. Systemic radiation therapy may be asked to be done for women with
breast cancer that has spread to large areas of the bone, this is called bone metastases.
Chemotherapy is an option for breast cancer that is early stage. The chemotherapy drugs used
depend on the stage of breast cancer. Chemotherapy includes many drugs. Breast cancer is mostly
treated with an anthracycline, a taxane or both types of drugs. Hormonal therapy is offered for
hormone receptor positive breast cancer that is either early stage with a low risk of recurrence,
locally advanced, advanced or recurrent, and the type of hormonal therapy offered will depend on
whether or not the woman has reached menopause. The type of biological therapy offered will
depend on the HER2 status of the breast

Professional Athletes Are Not Above The Law
Often times, professional athletes are role models and revered heavily by the media, franchise,
and the organization that the athlete performs for. However, to see a pro athlete fall and suffer
due to accusations and evidence brought against them is a very serious issue. There have been
so many past court cases where professional athletes have had to pay for their actions against
their organization or against society. Athletes are not above the law, but they are generally
portrayed to be seen above the law because of their financial success. Based on past court cases,
professional athletes are not above the law because they are simply still people that make
mistakes. Also, athletes are not the exception to the law. They have to follow the rules of society
just like everyone else. Finally, professional athletes are not above the law because they have a
reputation to up hold. They are sometimes being watched by millions of people on national
television. Professional athletes are still people that have made mistakes in the past. There is no
professional athlete that does not wish that he or she did not make the mistake that was made. A
great example would be NFL Running Back Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings. The article
discusses how Peterson had punished his 4 year old son with a switch bare bottom. Peterson had
admitted that he had beaten his son enough for him to draw blood. The court had declared this as
child abuse against Peterson. Although, Peterson had defended

Homeless Youth In The United States
Homeless Youth
When you look at a group of kids entering their elementary school, can you point out the kids that
are having trouble getting a meal every day, or the ones that are sleeping on a park bench at
night? Most people, when asked about homeless youth say that they didn t even know that was a
thing. Homeless youth is a major silent problem in the United States of America that the
government needs to address. Schools should have resources for students that are in need of
food, a place to sleep, or even clothes. There should be more resources for a student to use outside
of school as well. Schools and medical centers don t have a resource for young teens and children
to use to their benefits when they need it because they aren t old ... Show more content on

Fascinated By Arbus
It is important to mention how some of the people that were photographed by Arbus are shown
as characters in the movie. The opening scene is about Diane wanting to photograph people at a
nudist camp, relating to real life photographs that she had taken of nudists. The whole film also
makes a point of acknowledging that Arbus wanted to get to know the subject and familiarise
herself with the people she was going to take a picture of. In the last scene she sits next to a
woman who asks her if she is going to take a picture of her and Diane says, not yet then asks, tell
me a secret which shows how she takes an interest into who they are as well as what they look
like. Shainberg draws narrative from her real life and uses it many times throughout, especially in
the way that he includes the dwarfs and giants as characters as they are some of the subjects in her
photography. Also draws narrative in the way she gets to know her subjects, she spends a lot of
time with them as Adams (2001 pg 133 114) mentions that she was Fascinated by portraits of the
great sideshow performers, Arbus frequented the seedy neighborhoods, low budget carnivals, and
cheap rooming houses where freaks had come to rest. There, she befriended them with her camera
and brought their pictures to the walls of galleries and art museums.

Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms ( Adr )
Within the Australian justice system, Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms (ADR) have
historically been perceived as a means whereby parties can seek to resolve a variety of disputes,
but in a non judicial manner. As we move further into the 21st century, the rising costs associated
with lengthy and often ineffective litigation, accompanied with a need to reduce burdens placed
upon our legal system have allowed for a notable shift away from the courts as the primary means
of dispute resolution, with a growing number of parties preferring ADR as the most appropriate
means to bring about a more cooperative approach to legal matters. In the past, it has been largely
up to the parties to identify the issues that are in dispute, which would then later be adjudicated in
the appropriate court. Many scholars have strongly advocated in favour of adopting pre action
requirements, whereby parties are encouraged to negotiate disputes prior to the commencement of
litigation. Lord Wolff in his 1996 report into the UK justice system importantly notes that the
present system... is too expensive in that the costs often exceed the value of the claim; too slow in
bringing cases to a conclusion and too unequal: there is a lack of equality between the powerful,
wealthy litigant and the under resourced litigant . His recommendations, alongside several others
have been given significant weight within Australia, with the Attorney General initiating the
National Alternative Dispute Resolution

boring, and it is so flat that you can see the whole state no matter where you stand. The entire
town is made up of mostly older retired farmers and their wives, as well as some younger people
simply living in town out of preference. There was a small grocery store owned by a man
named Jim Smith, who proudly owned and worked at his store ever since 1982. He had a son
who helped him out in the store, his son s name was Jeremy. Jeremy was that one person in every

the end it s all our opinions. We all think we are right, but in reality nobody is right. Opinions on
politics and religion are things that people let get in the way of friendships and relationships
with other people too often. You re one of those people, you just need to understand that these
people really aren t all that bad, and you can have friends here and enjoy their company. You just
need to accept the fact that they are religious and have different views than you, but that s okay.
Jeremy thought for a long time on this. I guess you re right, he said suddenly. I ve been too
stubborn about their religion and political views to actually see if they were nice people. Maybe
we are all just a little to hostile towards each other about that stuff. I guess I really shouldn t care if
they are religious, or if they are conservative, just their character and personalities. After all,

faster processing to get employees hired, trained and on the sales floor to accommodate business
demand. For example, instead of making hiring decisions during third round interviews, give
second round interviewers the authority to make hiring decisions and streamline the interviews to
one preliminary interview and one final interview.
c. Industry Competition:Industry competitors that offer better pay, generous benefits or guaranteed
opportunities for professional development can affect the way you select potential employees. A
collegial work environment, job satisfaction and security, and flexible scheduling often are
appealing to job seekers looking for a quality of life instead of the biggest pay check. Changing the

CJ Industries has an opportunity to provide Great Lakes Pleasure Boats with key engine
components for their luxury line of pleasure boats. They earned this through the development of a
strong buyer supplier relationship with Great Lakes and this 5 year, $10 million annual contract
offers them the chance to have an extended relationship if they can satisfy Great Lakesneeds.
The opportunity is critical for the successful future of CJI and the main goal of the company should
be to completely satisfy the requirements of the contract with Great Lakes, and secure their future
business with Great Lakes. While they do most manufacturing in house, they have been sourcing
their bilge pumps out to Heavey Pumps on an informal basis. While Heavey ... Show more content

Discuss the advantages, disadvantages, and risks of each of these alternatives.
Should they continue using Heavey?:
The major reasons to stay with Heavey would be that they have developed a relationship by
working together with CJI for a long time. CJI always counted on Heavey to deliver their high
quality pumps on time and the relationship was so convenient that in fact CJI didn t even
consider the pumps being an issue when they signed their contract with Great Lakes.
Unfortunately, since Heavey is a small local company, CJI originally ignored that Heavey would
have to expand their production capabilities. It seems like a lot to ask and expect from Heavey,
and since there is no formal contract between them, it seems the most likely scenario is that CJI
will either discontinue doing business with Heavey, or form some kind of partnership with them.
They cannot however, solely rely on Heavey for pumps as they currently are, because it would
almost guarantee them to fail their obligations to Great Lakes.
Also, CJI likely does not receive much of a benefit (regarding cost savings) from Heavey utilizing
economies of scale because they are very small company that produces products in batches.
Additionally, while CJI has been able to rely on Heavey s expertise and product quality with
regards to producing pumps, contracting their pump manufacturing has been a short term strategy
so far and with their increased production it will begin to cost

Meat Vs Red Meat Research Paper
Everyone loves meat, after all, meat tastes good and offers us various healthy nutrients. However,
people often argue about which is better, red or white meat. Of course, not only nutrition is a factor,
but also taste and methods of cooking.
Myoglobin Makes Meat Red
You may be wondering, what gives red meatits characteristic color? Quite a simple answer, its
slow twitch fibers contain more myoglobin, the molecules which transport oxygen from the
bloodstream to muscles. Hence, muscles that an animal often utilizes becomes darker and reddish.
For example, an ostrich consistently runs, so its muscles are quite active, explaining its red meat.
As for white meat, it has less myoglobin since these muscles are utilized less frequently and in short
bursts. Its fast twitch fibers work during emergency situations, and not in routine activity. For
example, chicken breasts are whiter than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, it takes a short amount of time to prepare these meals. However, when it comes to
taste, red meat has a deeper flavor than white thanks to the fat content. White meat tends to be bland
and requires the taste of other sauces and toppings to make it taste good.
Eat Both Types for More Nutrition
Eating small amounts of both types of meat will offer you the best of both worlds. You may add
pork and beef to your stew to make it well rounded. Or, you may opt for a meat smoothie in
which you can throw in various types of meat. Doing so may require a power blender, so check
(insert site) to compare the top quality models.
Conclusion
Red meat has its color thanks to dense myoglobin percentage, while white lacks them. Although red
meat has higher fat content, it compensates by having more vitamins and minerals. Furthermore, it
has a richer flavor thanks to having more fat. However, the healthier option is to eat small amounts
of both to get the best of both

The passage of Prop 140 in 1990 had unintended consequences for the legislator. Not only did
Prop 140 implement term limits to increase turnover in the legislation, but it also reduced
funding. The reduction in funding led to the closure of bi partisan resources, such as the
Assembly Office of Research. The combination of legislators with less experience due to the
term limits, and lack of resources as result of the budget cuts, has dramatically weakened the
effectivity of the legislator. Consequently, the vacuum created by prop 140 has been filled by
lobbyist and the Governor. Recent studies illustrate a significant drop in declines made by the
legislator to the Governor s budget since the implementation of term limits (Kousser). Although
Proposition 2 does not directly fix the unintended consequences of Prop 140, it mitigates some of
the negative effects, bringing more balance between the two branches. Due to the shortcomings of
Proposition 58, the governor has much discretion in handling California debt, whereas Prop 2
calls for a mandatory 1.5% of the budget. Additionally, Proposition 2 mandates that scheduled
fund transfers can only be repealed if the Governor calls a state of emergency and gains approval
of the legislator. Requiring approval of the legislators not only empowers legislators attempting to
cope the debt crisis, but also prevents a

commits suicide. The second reason is the death of his Aunt Helen (his favorite aunt). This event
creates a negative impact on Charlie s life. All these factors contribute to Charlie s shyness, but the
real reason of his introvert personality is due to his Aunt Helen. The author does not tell the reader,
but one can come to the conclusion that early in Charlie s life his aunt abuses him. He previously
has suicidal attempts because he gets to think that Aunt Helen s death is his fault. Being so young

Medieval European Inventions
Inventions in Medieval Europe
Magnetic compass:
A magnetic compass has a magnetised needle, that is generally in line with magnetic poles of the
Earth, and is used to help people navigate.
The magnetic compass provided medieval Europe with many benefits, and changed how people
navigated. One benefit the compass offered was the opportunity to travel more often. People would
no longer have to rely on on nature or seasonal navigation techniques, such as migrating birds and
the tide. Exploring new parts of the world was made easier too, as explorers of the world wouldn t
have to rely on inaccurate signs like dead fish and seaweed to navigate, and wouldn t get lost as
easily.

Printing Press:
The printing press, invented by Johann Gutenberg, had a significant impact in Medieval Europe. It
drastically cut the cost of producing printed materials, including books, and made copying easier.
Before the invention of the printing press, to make multiple copies of books, people (most often
monks,) would have to laboriously copy the text by hand. This was a very time consuming and
costly manner, as the monks would commonly write on vellum (treated skins.)
The printing press made copying text incredibly faster and much cheaper. Gutenberg s printing
press meant more access to information, more dissent, more informed discussion and more
widespread criticism of authorities, observes the British Library.
With his press, the first books that Gutenberg printed, were copies of the bible, all 200 copies
selling before the printing was complete! During the European Reformation, ideas associated with
the new Protestant faith were popularised, due to the printing press.

The First Success Factor
As the first success factor, different communication styles lead to conflict. Brett et al. (2006)
emphasized on direct and indirect communication that it could easily create misunderstanding
within the team. One of the example which explained by Brett et al. (2006) is the American
expatriate asked their Japanese team members of do you agree with the ideas? As the result, they
all answered yes, which does not mean they agreed in Japanese cultures but it means they show
their American member respect.
The failure from this case could occur when the American misunderstood the indirect
communication concept by base their country s culture only. Meyer that the team members should
have flexible mind to learn the new cultures and avoid their cultural bias by misinterpretation from
individual s culture (Rizk, 2014). Adler (1997) added that misinterpretation could cause by
inaccurate stereotypes. Through increasing cultural awareness, the team members could improve
the accuracy and make more understanding of the team s norms.
Another aspect is the languages toward the team members could create problems in
misunderstanding and frustration toward the native speakers (Brett et al., 2006). Most of the native
speakers could not say from their mind directly and they need to translate them into easy words
which may lack of some details as well. The language proficiency could enhance the social

Monitoring Usage Context Is An Essential Part Of Any System
Context is an essential part of any system that tries to understand user behaviour or monitor user
interaction. Monitoring usage context is a vital component in our re search as well as it provides
us with the insight and the understanding of the user s condition when he performed an certain
activity. Context itself has been defined and revised by many researchers over the course of time
partly because of the definition s need to take into consideration the advance ments in technology
and what can actually be achieved in the reality which was not possible when it was not known
earlier. The most recent and probably the most apt definition of context is that any information that
can be used to characterise the situ ation of an entity. An entity is a person, place, or object that is
considered relevant to the interaction between a user and an application, including the user and
applications themselves. [Dey 2001]. This definition clearly outlines what we are trying to achieve
with the framework. The Framework was developed for Android platform after taking into
consideration its openness in terms of data it is able to provide the overlaying application. Although
there are several monitoring frameworks for Android [Lathia et al. 2013; ?] however they all lack
several vital components that are essential to our research such as ap plication monitoring, web
usage monitoring, network connections, WiFi access points among others. Based on the platform

What Is The Purpose Of Romantic Poems By Wordsworth
LYRICAL BALLADS, A EXPERIMENT
SULAIM SARFRAZ
In the Advertisement included in the 1798 edition of the lyrical ballads, Wordsworth explained why
this project of his was an experiment
The majority of the following poems are to be considered as experiments. They were written
chiefly with a view to ascertain how far the language of conversation in the middle and lower
classes of society is adapted to the purpose of poetic pleasure. (Lyrical Ballads, Wordsworth)
The basic purpose of this experiment was to revolt against the existing poetic practices that were
completely devoid of emotion and based purely on logic and reason like the poetry of the Augustan
Age. The lyrical ballads officially marked the start of the Romantic Revival of English ... Show

It brought novelty and freshness to English literature that had grown stale with the Augustan
age. Though from the outside it brought revolutionary changes to the literary scene of the time,
the preface and Wordsworth theory of poetry did not live up to what it preached as in many
poems Wordsworth himself completely discarded his own ideals and his partner in the creation
of lyrical ballads Coleridge himself wrote Biographia Literaria, a part of which is solely the
criticism on Wordsworth s theory of poetry. He rejected some of Wordsworth s ideas completely
i.e. that of poetic diction and the language of real men etc while he still believed in the great
importance of Nature in poetry that is the common characteristic of all romantic literature, but at
the same time his poems are not solely based on the natural. He believed that the objective of
poetry is only to give pleasure not to convey a truth which is the complete opposite of what
Wordsworth believed and that it should have organic unity, the essence of which is that just like a
living organism that cannot be separated from any of its parts without injury, all parts of a poem
must fit together as a whole. In his work, Coleridge in addition to writing about his own ideas,

Persuasive Essay On The Confederate Statue
The violence continues as statues keep coming down in America currently. My goal today is to
explain why the confederate statue should stay or should be taken down everywhere in the
United States. There is three Main points that I m going to states and defend in this Essay and
tell you why I believe in them and there purposes. First why we need to keep them and not take
them down. Second they will help educated the future people for the better. Last of all I think
that we should keep the statues all the way and this is why. Why should we keep the statues you
may ask, well there is no right or wrong answer for this topic but I will do my best to defend my
point and belief of why these statues should not be torn down. The biggest reason I don t want
these statues torn down is that it s not just a big piece of metal sitting there or a regular statue, these
are statues that have history behind them over the years on when the south fought the north for a
big turn for American history. People think they are racist or wrong, but really they show where
we are from and what we are about. This Battle goes back to a massive shooting in 2015, when
Dylan Roof shot nine people in a dominant black church in Charleston, SC. Thus starting of the
Statues being taken down across America. How will this help the future for the better If someone

William Carey Essay
The Mission was initially started to fulfill The Great Commission of Matthew 28:19.
Approximately 50 years ago a few Church leaders wanted to end the mission. Since that time the
number of missionaries and finance has increased higher than ever. The Missionary is one called
by God and sent by the church to serve Godin a culture, or geographic location most likely
different from their own. According to Genesis 12:1 3 God s mission was known to the
Israelites, but they chose not to follow the Abrahamic Covenant. Goyim meaning group of
people with distinct political, ethnic, or territorial identities, as a nation or people, i.e. non

The A New Product, Sodium Thiosulphate, And Then Daguerre...
In 1839, Herschel was the first to use a new product, sodium thiosulphate, to fix images forever.
This was later implemented by Fox Talbot and then Daguerre for his own daguerreotype.
In 1851 Scott Archer learnt that you could use collodion soluble guncotton dissolved in a mixture
of ether and alcohol to attach solver compounds to glass, the negative/positive process became
dominate. The photographer would have to prepare the collodion glass plates and expose them
while they were still wet. Processing in developer, to blacken the exposed parts, and fixing, to
dissolve the remaining parts had to take place immediately. Location photography therefore required
a darkroom tent. Time exposure were as always a necessary with the camera firmly secured to a
tripod. This process continued to dominate for the next thirty years, Archer who selflessly donated
the collodion process to posterity, died in 1857 at the age of 44, in extreme poverty.
The Daguerreotype seemed to be invincible. From 1840 a decade of success followed the
Daguerreotype, a notable reduction in exposure time, it was then gradually supplanted by the
process of collodion on glass that brought together great detail and the ability to produce numerous
prints. Many say that the inhibiting of British photography in the first decade may have been
because of Daguerre who patented his process in England. Also Fox Talbot patrolled his patents

Paid maternity leave Tara is an American female who was nine months pregnant. She was
working full time at home and care for her one year old toddler. In several days in of end in her
pregnant, she was focused not just on her expected date of confinement, but also on another
deadline which she would have to go back at work 20 days after giving birth. Actually Tara s
situation is pretty typical in the U.S. America is the only developed country which has no paid
maternity leave. Many other countries have new rule for new parents and new babies. New mons
in Finland can get 16 weeks paid maternity leave. Denmark government can provide the salary for
52 weeks maternity leave. The Latin American cuarentena and the Uzbek chilla have 40 days of
rests and social support. However, maternity leave in the United States is regulated by US labor law.
(Wikipedia). Companies have the right to provide the unpaid break for new moms when they are
during the month before and after childbirth. Recently, more and more citizens hope that
government can implement the rule of paid maternity leave. Donald Trump, who is the president
of America now, even declared that he would publish the rules of paid maternity leave during the
presidential selection. As for me, I obviously believe that paid maternity leave should be
implemented in America, so that the and it is beneficial for the health of new mothers and babies,

Film Analysis Of The Film The Scarlett Letter
The Scarlett Letter 1995 Film Analysis
The Scarlett Letter, is about a young mistress named Hester Prynne. In 1666, after moving to the
Massachusetts Bay Colony from England to await her husbands arrival, Hester beings to fall in
love with the town s pastor, Arthur Dimmesdale. Roger Prynne, Hester s husband, and all other
passengers of an English ship are presumed dead in the aftermath of an attack. After she and
Arthur consummate their love, Hester finds herself pregnant. Hester soon becomes the subject
of idle gossip among the colonists after she shares her radical thoughts and views on the Bible
and the Puritan way of life. Two of the other mistresses in the colony also witnessed Hester
become ill on two separate occasions during the morning hours, so she is called to appear before
the Elders of the colony to be accused of Heresy, Fornication, and Adultery. Hester is then
arrested and imprisoned for her indiscretion. On the day of giving birth to her bastard child,
Pearl, Hester is humiliated in front of the entire town and made to wear a red A for adulterer on
her chest and to also followed around by a drummer boy that bangs his drum wherever she goes in
public. Roger Prynne resurfaces and was never actually killed by the Indians, but was captured and
held prisoner. After learning about the scandal of his wife, Roger joins the colony under an alias,
Dr. Roger Chillingworth . Roger eventually scalps and kills a male colonist that he thought was
Arthur, and blames the murder on the Algonquian Indians, which prompts the declaration of war on
the Indians by the colonists. Roger commits suicide for his wrong doings, Hester and Arthur
abandon the Massachusetts Bay Colony, and the scarlet letter to set out for Carolina to start a new
life. I do believe that The Scarlett Letter is historically accurate. I think the writers and directors
accurately communicated the sense of historic time and place, it really felt like I left the 21st
century and stepped back in time. There are several pieces of evidence within the film that are
historically accurate. In one of the first scenes of the film, the narrator describes Hester Prynne as
she comes from England to the New World, My name is Pearl. This is the story

Analysis Of Sweat By Zora Neale Hurston
Everybody s good when they re good, darling. You don t judge a person by that. It s how they act
when things aren t good that tells you who they really are. ― Megan Jacobson (Goodreads, 56
Quotes ) Much like the world around us, literature has many elements that have the reader portray
their own understanding and perspective of it. In Sweat, Zora Neale Hurstongives the reader many
different situations where many readers can have several viewpoints. This seems to be very
similar to the Bible, where a child of Godcan read the same scripture as another and have a
completely different meaning in their eyes. Zora Hurston uses many elements that focus on the
idea that actions one does speak louder than words, by the use of religious imagery and Delia, the
wife.
Sweat s narrator point of view is told in third person omniscient, meaning the narrator switches from
character to character constantly and does not restrict the reader to one character s perspective.
Hurston uses this element to introduce us to each of the characters daily life and their belief in
Christianity. Not only does it give us each character s standpoint, but also clarification of an outside
view and provide the reader with additional information and background of the married couple.
To begin the story, Hurston, with the use of the narrator being from third person omniscient,
introduces us to Delia as a wash woman who was working on a Sunday night all the way until
eleven o clock after church earlier in the

Tragic Heroism of Creon Essay
Aristotle once said that a Greek Tragedy must include an important person that has a flaw. By
this flaw, the audience should feel pity and fear. Creon, a character in the Greek tragedy Antigone
, resembles a perfect example of a tragic hero. This play was written by Sophocles, a historic
playwright during the 5th century. It begins with the illegal burial of Polyneices, Antigone s
beloved brother. Creon, the King of Thebes, is coerced to condemn his niece Antigone to death.
Being loyal to his city, Creon follows through with his punishment of Antigone. By doing so, his
character is changed forever. Creon has the qualities of a tragic hero: he is a good person with

As simple as that (Sophocles 7). This shows that Creon has the power to condemn the people of
his city to death and with his power he decides the fate of Antigone. By having goodness and
superiority Creon changes the lives of many characters, both good and bad.
A tragic flaw is one of the most important qualities of a tragic hero. The change in most of the
characters was a result of Creon s tragic flaws. Creon may think he is infallible, but really he has
many flaws that lead to his downfall. The first is anger, which causes Creon to make poor
choices. After a heated debate with his son Haemon, Creon becomes angry and says, I ll take
her to a deserted spot / And bury her alive in a trench (Sophocles 20). Through Creon s anger he
influences Antigone s death and by doing so, she commits suicide. Aside from having anger,
Creon is also a stubborn person. By his stubbornness he does not want to be proven wrong so he
says, You ll never persuade me to bury that corpse (Sophocles 24). He shows his stubbornness by
saying that he will never change his mind about Antigone. When Teiresias, the fortuneteller, hears
this he explains to Creon that if he does not change his mind he will cause another death. After
hearing this Creon must bury the body of Polyneices and free Antigone, because fate never lies.
Little does he know that he is too late and the prophecy comes true. The last tragic flaw of Creon is
that he is filled with temerity. Creon is

Functionalism In Spy Movie
Functionalism in Spy Movie
Section I
The movie I have chosen for this assignment is Spy directed by Paul Feig. The movie highlights
serious concerns of gender discrimination, which invite a critical sociological theory. Whether or
not women contribute to the stability of the society is the main question this movie seeks to answer.
I chose the functionalism perspective (otherwise known as the functionalist perspective). Emile
Durkheim formulated the theory after taking interest in how the society remains stable or how
social order is achieved. In other words, the theory is concerned with the macro level society.
Functionalism looks at each segment of the society in terms of its contributions to the overall good
health of the society. This means that the society should not be taken as the total of its constituent
parts; instead, each of these constituent parts should be looked at as functioning to achieve the
stability of the whole society (Arruza 10). Put simply, the society is the same as an organism whose
body parts have critical functions that lead to the overall health of the ... Show more content on

Therefore, it is inappropriate for men to consider women as useless members of the society simply
because of their sex. Such patriarchal and chauvinistic reasoning does not mean well for the
stability of the society; rather, men and women should be equal because they both contribute to the
society s good health.
Male characters in the movie believe that the desk duty should be left for women. However, there
is only a single woman on the mission: Cooper. Her male colleagues sexually harass her to the
extent that she cannot concentrate on her duties. Instead of running away from the desk duty like
other members of the CIA team, Cooper decides to use it as an opportunity to prove to the men that

Development in Charter Schools Essay
In 1988, Ray Budde (A University of Massachusetts Amherst Professor) felt that something needed
to be done to improve the public education system in the United States. Falling test scores and rising
dropout rates provoked a movement for reform. Ray Budde pointed out many restrictions set by
state governments that inhibited the potential of many students and how these restrictions were
damaging the educational system rather than maintaining it. He proposed a plan that would
eliminate these restrictions and create a system where students would excel. This idea took hold
when the American Federation of Teachers adopted the idea and set up the first Charter Schools in

Although very risky, starting a charter school has its advantages too. A study performed by Phi
Delta Kappa International focuses on the differences between charter schools and public schools.
This study gives a comprehensive interpretation of the advantages charter schools have over public
schools. The study mainly focuses on the management aspect of the charter schools and shows
how principals of charter schools use their power to put their schools ahead of public schools. A
former public school principle interviewed eight charter school principals on how they hired
teachers. The interviews suggested that charters schools are serving as exciting seedbeds for new
approaches to finding, employing, and keeping better teachers. ( Finn) Interestingly enough some
principals would be willing to hire non state certified teachers to meet their standards of quality.
These principals were looking for was a teacher who was highly intelligent, had prestigious college
background, was articulate, and liked kids. (Finn) Although they would be taking a risk hiring
someone without the standard teaching qualifications set by the state, they knew that with their
intelligence and prestige, they would strive to educate the children as they would themselves. The
charter school system gives the principal the power to hire teachers which enables them to select
the teachers that match the needs and culture of their school. Most of these principals look for
overachievers, those who want to

Most Important Commandments In America
There are many commandments in America. Most of them are very important and should be
followed. There is many more that should be added . The commandments can prevent a lot of
things. They can also earn you some respect . I think more should be added. One commandment
is that you should always speak when you walk into a room .It is considered rude if you walk
into a room full of people and don t speak to them . You wouldn t like it if you were sitting in a
room and somebody walked in and don t acknowledge your presence . That s why the polite thing
to do is speak. That earns you more respect from others. The second most important commandment

it s also a good way to lose trust in people. You wouldn t like it if somebody stole from you so don t

What Is The Meaning Behind Mississippi Burning
Within American history, the year 1964 stands out to the nation as the year that was faced with the
civil rights movement. Altogether, with various events that occured over the course of the year, it
caught the attention of many Americans and showed that progress was being made as well as
there was hope that a country where all men are truly created equal could exist. The movie titled
Mississippi Burning does an admirable job at revealing the internal battle that our nation was going
through at this time and is an important film to be shown to young generations so that we are not
doomed to repeat events of our past.
The film Mississippi Burning starts out by displaying how three Civil Rights Workers get tailed,
caught, and murdered in the woods by members of the Ku Klux Klan. The movie reveals to
viewers, through conversation, the clashing personalities of the two FBI agents, Agent Ward and
Agent Anderson, who came to Mississippi to investigate the missing persons case of the three
boys. It becomes obvious over the course of the film that the two agents do not exactly see eye to
eye on how to operate the investigation, including tactics to get the information they need. In
addition, unfortunately, the two agents find out pretty quickly that they are not welcome in the
town, as it is essentially a community run by the KKK. Many of the businesses in the town, and
even the police department are controlled by members of the Klan, making it a society full of
racist hatred. The two agents, after not being able to get very far on their own, call for
reinforcements to assist with finding information for their investigation. A large amount of FBI
agents as well as numerous members of the Navy Reserve are sent to help in the search for the
three missing boys. As the two agents get closer and closer to finding the truth about the murders,
they are constantly surrounded by the Klan s leaders including Clayton Townley and Deputy
Clinton Pell. Agent Anderson, being originally from the South knows Mississippians view on
African Americans and realizes that any white citizen would be scared to death at the sight of an
African American having the upper hand over them and wanting revenge on members of the Klan.

Poetry Analysis Of Sonnet 18 By William Shakespeare
Poetry Analysis Sonnet 18
Poetry is a form of literature that uses powerful aesthetic and rhythmic qualities of language, such
as phonaesthetics, sound symbolism, and metre, to evoke meanings in addition to, or instead of,
the prosaic ostensible meaning. It can be used to describe a person or tell a random, captivating
story. Love poetry has been used since the beginning of writing to express feelings and thoughts;
usually about another person. Love poetry is said to have a huge effect, and connection, to the
way gender and its roles are portrayed. This is not always the case, as Love is limitless and not
confined to definitive boundaries. William Shakespeare definitely supported this theory as no
one can ever be certain who he is talking about in his sonnets. He talks about love for people, or a
person, and not for a gender.is one of the most famous poets, and is most well known for his love
poems and plays. Shakespeare s sonnet 18 focuses on the loveliness of a friend or lover. The
speaker is initially asked a rhetorical question comparing them to a summer s day. Shakespeare
then goes on to introduce the pros and cons of the weather; from a perfect English summer s day,
to a less welcoming dimmed sun and rough winds. In the end, however, it is the riveting poetry that
will keep the burning love alive, defying even death.
William Shakespeare s sonnets are known around the world, and are studied by most students. His
sonnets are split into two parts, sonnets 1 to 126

Analysis Of Lamb To The Slaughter By Mary Maloney
Insanely Innocent
Everyone does something at some point in their life that can be considered insane. Sometimes it s
simple things like trying a new food or a new hobby However, other times it can bit more extreme
such as stepping outside of the status quo or just simple committing a crime altogether. The story,
Lamb to the Slaughter by Roald Dahl depicts the life of Mary Maloney and the event of her killing
her husband. However, Mary Maloney is innocent due to reason of Insanity because she portrays
symptoms of a person with schizophrenia, the forced conformity of gender roles, and her over
attachment or jealousy for her husband.
Most of Roald Dahl s characters have a tendency to have an underlying trait to them. In this case,

Roald Dahl also plays with the gender role aspect of the 1950 s. The 1950 s were really focused
around the white picket fence perfect family. There was expected to be a mom and a dad with at
least one kid. The mom would stay home to cook and clean while the husband went off to work .
Once the husband returned home, they would sit down as one family and eat the meal the
woman prepared. Divorce was not a common thing and was a very unacceptable thing at this
time. In fact, the article 1950 s family life Michael Rich says, Divorce was not a common thing.
Why? Societal pressure for one thing. You were supposed to get married and stay married,
regardless of how miserable you were. Divorce carried a stigma... in the Fifties, a woman s best
chance at employment was in traditionally accepted women s jobs such as secretary, teacher,
nurse, librarian and so forth. So there was an economic incentive to stay married. However in
the story, Mr. Maloney completely goes against the social custom of not divorcing. On page 382
of Lamb to the Slaughter it says, And I know it s kind of a bad time to be telling you, but there

Dbq Imperialism
After an elite revolution involving the advance of new technology and economy, global changes
occurred. Capitalism, socialism, and nationalism were very popular before the fall of Africa, and
before imperialism. With these ideas in mind, motivations like: the military, politics, demographic
features, economics, and social classes had influence for the future of Africa and countries like
Europe, Germany, and Russia were more powerful than Africa. Imperialism shaped when borders
were opened, and authority was limited. A nation that is thriving on foreign trade and control

Christian members in Europe established churches in conquered territories during the nineteenth
century. With this Western cultural values were spread. Europe found the option to use
imperialism to their advantage when the scramble for Africa occurred. This is when The Berlin
West Africa conference occurred regarding the split of Africa into colonies. The country was so
behind with the rapid industrialization, that new diffusion of ideas was necessary and sought out
by citizens. Colliding of religions also involved new education and new foreign languages. As
seen in document five, philanthropy was a key part and wanted five percent better through Europe
at the time. This showed Africa s hesitant distinction through the late 1880 s to 1950 s and was

decide not to move on, and their spirits stay trapped with the living. It is always nice to have a
bit of comedy mixed into thriller movies, because then you start to become more relaxed. It is
easier to be caught off guard if you are enjoying yourself, and the best part of thrillers is to not
expect what the outcome will

Sun Wars Poem
I was just having a normal day when the sun god came to visit us! Well, I guess who we thought
was the sun god. We welcome him and dressed him in religious robes and gave him a cup of our
people s blood, but he went all crazy. Him and others started blasting us with booms and loud
noises. They left and later sent a message of peace. We didn t know if we could trust them
because they allied with our enemy, but we decided to leave it. We met again and offered them
gold, hoping to make them leave. They didn t leave! We met and made peace. We welcomed them
like honored guests and let them stay in one of our palaces. That was a mistake. The leader of the
white men, Hernan, put our king under arrest! Then, there was a formal transfer of power! Oh

How Does One Sacrifice Something That Can t Be Held But...
Here is a riddle I learned during this school year. How does one sacrifice something that can t be
held but measured? If it can t be held, how can you give someone yours? Last clue: If it can be
measured why can t you save it up for different purposes? What are we talking about here? After
three clues you should have answered time. So how do people sacrifice time that can be measured,
not held, and not given? For that answer we need to talk to a god. Chronos is a Greek god of time,
but unlike other gods, sacrificing time wouldn t t please him. I have learned this firsthand by
mostly trial and error. My trial and error tests had me sitting on my comfy couch, legs up, facing
my 60 inch (measured diagonally) watching a TV show. My MacBook computer would be on
my lap being ignored even though I had every intention to start my schoolwork. If Chronos was
sitting next to me, the Greek god would smell of times lost and be fuming from his mouths, all
three of them. I was in every sense sacrificing time rather then using it wisely. In a deep echoing
god like voice Chrono honors me with the best advice the Greek god of time could give, Use my
time wisely or before you know it, your time will be up mortal.
The Greek gods statement rang true to the same pitch of my ears as I turned off the TV and
started my paper. I turned my head to face face face Chronos and responded in my mortal weak
words responding, Use it or loose it?
The gods six eyes all squint in unison at

Juvenile Justice System And For Reducing Juvenile Crime Rates
I.INTRODUCTION Regardless of what nation an individual resides in, certain issues are
universally important. Examples include crime, economics, education, family, healthcare,
homelessness, poverty, and many others. The United States is now the world leader in its rate of
incarceration. Over the past 25 years, juvenile crimehas skyrocketed, with drug crimes, gang
violence, school shootings, and other violent acts being regularly featured in the news. During the
past 10 years, nearly all 50 states have overhauled their juvenile justice laws, allowing more youths
to be tried as adults. However, in addressing crime, there must be an effective balance between
deterrence, prevention, and punishment. This paper analyzes the juvenile justice system and the
effectiveness of sentencing alternatives like juvenile detention centers and shelters. Part II details
the history of the juvenile justice system. In Part III, sentencing alternatives like sentencing
alternatives like juvenile detention centers and shelters are examined. Lastly, this paper concludes
with suggestions for improving the juvenile justice system and for reducing juvenile crime rates.
II.HISTORY OF THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM Prior to the twentieth century, there were no
significant differences between the way adult criminals and juvenile offenders were treated by the
criminal justice system. Early prisons housed adults, juveniles, men, women, sane and insane, all
together. ( CJCJ: Intro to California s

Essay on Tommy Douglas
Tommy Douglas
Tommy Douglas is one of the most successful politicians Canadians have ever seen. He
implemented many social policies and programs in Saskatchewan that were later adopted
throughout Canada. Most of his programs continue today and are an integral part of
Canadian society. His greatest achievement was his implementation of Medicare in
Saskatchewan. Douglas never intended to be a politician but his concern for people drove him to
be one. Thomas Douglas was born in Falkirk, Scotland on October 20, 1904. Tommy moved to
Winnipeg in 1911 along with his mother and sister to meet his father who had migrated one year
earlier. (1Thomas H Mcleod and Ian Mcleod, Tommy DouglasThe

The CCF won only 5 seats in the Federal election in 1935. Douglas made a name for himself in

1944. Douglas became the first leader of a socialist government in North America.
Tommy vowed to spend 70% of government money on social programs and his slogan was
Humanity First . Tommy Douglas and the CCF were in power in Saskatchewan for
17 years. During this time Douglas held true to his word and implemented countless social

Steven Goldberg Male Dominance Theory
Male dominance A biology based theory on competitiveness is the male dominance theory .
Developer of this theory, Steven Goldberg, presents in his book why the biological difference
between men and women leads to male domination (1993). This biological difference is mainly
based to be found the difference in testosterone levels between men and women (Goldberg, 1993:
131). The level of testosterone would result in men having greater tendencies to be aggressive and a
drive to dominate others. This aggressive advantage would men also make more competitive and
self assertive. In combination this leads to men being more elicited to be dominant on average than
women on average. Men s aggressive advantage would especially stand out in situations that are
hierarchically structured. Goldberg expands his theory by connecting the previous with the
presence of institutions as he argues that testosterone is a required condition for creating institutions
(Golberg, 1993; 131). Through this he suggests that the testosterone induced dominance is a
necessity in building hierarchies. In all, Goldbergs theory does not state that... Show more content

There is argued that men and women prefer different styles of organisational behaviour. In a
different voice Gilligan describes the different moral voices that men and women have. Men would
be more individualistic, oriented towards achievement and gaining power than women. Women on
the other hand, would be more selfless and concerned with the needs of others (Gilligan, 1982).
The female moral believe system would be consistently repressed by societal norms that are built
around the male psychological tendencies. With that, men would maintain a justice perspective
where moral is created through rights and formal reasoning. Women however, would be associated
with the care perspective and be greatly concerned with care and

Second Language Acquisition ( Sla )
Second language acquisition (SLA) has long been a topic of interest for many researchers such as
linguists, psychologists, and educators. Through the study of SLA, researchers may better
understand the basic properties of languages, how languages are processed in the brain, and how to
facilitate the acquisition of a second language. A common topic of inquiry among SLA researchers
is why some people seem to learn new languages with ease while others do not. This question is
especially important to foreign language educators who want all of their students to succeed at
becoming proficient in a second language. In order to provide the proper support their students
need, educators must be aware of the many factors that influence SLA. In order to investigate why
some language learners appear to be more successful than others, researchers examine the
differences between individual learners. The current consensus among experts is that individual
learners learn differently depending on variables like learning opportunities, the motivation to learn,
individual differences and learning styles in second language acquisition(Bista, 2008, p. 2).
Therefore an individual s success is dependent on the combination of many factors. Educators may
attempt to determine an individual s chances at learning a language by measuring their language
aptitude. While researchers thus far failed to create a universal definition for language aptitude,
they have identified some aspects of

Overcoming communication barriers
There are four main types of barriers in communication. Any of these barriers can ruin the
chances of success in any given project or task that we are trying to achieve here at XYZ Company.

barriers, which will allow your team to run more productively, with less need to take corrective

from cross functional team members. o Short term / one time requests use of email, or telephone is
appropriate.
Be clear on need. Ask for response to show understanding by receiver. Give opportunity for
questions as needed. o Technical communications hold them person to person, or in meeting(s).
Use Power point presentations, with handouts, questions and answer sections, note taker for issues
to answer outside of the meeting. o Executive high level reasons, coasts and benefits to the
company.
Give a brief background of issue. If you must use a slide presentation, keep to a minimum. In
person works well, plan on leaving 25% of allotted time for questions. o For larger groups / cross
functional communications
Kick off meetings. Have team members sit at circular tables.
Perform some team building techniques.
Brainstorming to confirm understanding level
The next barrier type is personal. These barriers can occur for both the sender and receiver. Ones
ability to send or receive information is effected by many factors. Mood, prejudices against another
person, another team, your listening skills, method of communication, all can lead to erroneous
interpretations, or level of understanding. Here are tips to help gain overall better communication

Theme Of Imagination In Finding Neverland
Childhood is defined as the state of being a child or the period during which a person is a child.
Imagination is defined as being the faculty or action of forming new ideas, or images or concepts
of external objects not present to the senses. In the film Finding Neverland, the influence of
imagination and the conclusion of childhood are themes that affect the characters of the movie. The
theme of imagination reaches out to each character that uses it in different ways to help themselves
deal with situations or cope. The end of childhood affects a few characters, particularly the children,
which each have a moment where they, or other characters, realize that their childhood is coming to
an end and they are starting to grow up. The film Finding Neverlandis mainly centered on the
power of imagination and how each character uses imagination as their own tool. In the film,
James connects with the Davies boys by playing pretend and using their imagination such as
when they played pirates or Indians. Peter, George, Michael, and Jack, the Davies boys, all use
their imagination to cope with the recent death of their father. They escape to their own
imaginations in order to ignore the pain that came with the loss of their father. This is evident
when the boys are playing the Wild West with James. In the game, James is an Indian who has
been wounded and tells Peter I take you as my own son. Peter then tells James you are not my
father and runs off clearly angered and upset. Sylvia then reveals to James that Peter has not been
the same since his father died and she does not believe he has even cried about it. I believe that
once James meets the familyand learns of this loss, he sees how the boys to do this and then
continues to encourage their creativity to lessen the pain. James uses his imagination to avoid
growing up and facing the world for what it really is. He escapes to his imagination to live out
his own reality he calls Neverland, a place where no one grows up and good always triumphs over
evil. He shares his reality of Neverland with the boys and allows them to imagine their versions.
The ending of childhood applies particularly to the boys when they each have a moment where
they, or another character,

video game characters are a rare sight. However, there are a few characters male gamers look up to,
almost as much as Solid Snake or Mario. Here are the top five greatest females in video games!
Number Five: Kitana, Mortal Kombat
Princess Kitana made her official debut in Mortal Kombat II, and has fought strong ever since.
Although 10,000 years old, she has the appearance of a young woman. Where she isn t all about
hand to hand combat, she relies on her Steel Fan weapon to tomahawk at other opponents making
her one of the most powerful females in Mortal Kombat, even more powerful than her evil twin
Mileena.

who is wise beyond her years. Although not playable in the Legend of Zelda franchise, she is a
character in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros Brawl, and Super Smash Bros for 3DS.
Number Three: Madison Paige, Heavy Rain
Madison is one of the four protagonists in Heavy Rain, and is the most mysterious character in the
game. Her character is portrayed as a 27 year old female photographer and a journalist, who is
noted to have severe insomnia, believed to be from being a journalist in Iraq. Her strong personality
truly shined through while investigating The Origami Killer, and keeping Ethan level headed
throughout the game.
Number Two: Kairi, Kingdom Hearts.
Although ignored greatly in the franchise, Kairi is one of the most important characters in the
game. With Sora and Riku constantly going through different ways to save her, it was not only
cute, but implemented carefully in the game. Kairi alone, is a very annoying character, but on the
contrary, her plotline with Sora was a tearjerker, whether it be their goodbye, or even the montage

Analysis Of The Poem Maus My Father Bleed History Essay
The curiosity of Artie about Vladek saying that Anja was not pretty, during the fight between
Vladek and Lucia, incites Artie to interrupt Vladek s story of the past. The interruptions that Art
Spiegelman writes into his comic, Maus My Father Bleed History, breaks up Vladek s story about
surviving the Holocaust, which is what happens in the scene with Vladek and Lucia s fight.
Spiegelman uses the interruptions of Vladek s story to lead out of it and then back into Mausto
assist in clarifying information for the reader, to show the father son relationship between Artie and
Vladek, and also to explain how Maus was written.
The incidents that Spiegelman uses within his panels and text work as a way to give insight into
how Artie and Vladek s father son relationship works. A case in which Artie and Vladek s
relationship is shown is right after Vladek tells Artie the story about Lucia and he says, But this is
what I just told you about Lucia and so I don t want you should write this in your book
(Spiegelman 23). To help interrupt Vladek s story Spiegelman makes the panel in which this
dialogue takes place have no border around it, which gives the panel a sense of breaking up the
story that Vladek was telling to Artie. Vladek interrupting his story shows that while he felt this was
important information for Artie to know, he does not want it in the comic. Thus this story being in
the comic along with Artie s reaction in the comic show the reader the differing views and the

NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION
Nonverbal Communication Techniques for Acing Interviews
Personal Hygiene
Shower, brush your teeth, comb/style your hair, use deodorant, and avoid using excess cologne or
perfume.
You want to be properly groomed in order to make a positive first impression and show the
interviewer you re serious about the job. Many people are sensitive or allergic to specific or strong
scents, and not using excessive amounts of cologne or perfume demonstrates that you are aware of
this.
Dress Professionally
Research the company s dress code so you can dress appropriately. If you can t find anything about
a dress code (or if the company doesn t have one), use your best judgement to determine what might
be appropriate attire for the company.
How you dress says a lot about how serious you are about an interview. It s important to dress for
the job you want; if your goal is to work in an office or business environment, wearing street
clothes will not help you achieve that goal.
It s important to remember that professional attire for an interview at a retail chain like Walmart or
Canadian Tire would look different from one at a bank or insurance company.
Handshaking Etiquette
Prior to the interview, keep your hands open in order to prevent them becoming overly sweaty.
Keep a tissue in your pocket to discreetly dry your hands if necessary. Sweaty hands could indicate
to the interviewer that you are nervous.
Offer a greeting before and during the handshake. The

However, to see a pro athlete fall and suffer due to accusations and evidence brought against them is a very serious issue. There have been so many past court cases where professional athletes have had to pay for their actions against their organization or against society. Athletes are not above the law, but they are generally portrayed to be seen above the law because of their financial success. Based on past court cases, professional athletes are not above the law because they are simply still people that make mistakes. Also, athletes are not the exception to the law. They have to follow the rules of society just like everyone else. Finally, professional athletes are not above the law because they have a reputation to up hold. They are sometimes being watched by millions of people on national television. Professional athletes are still people that have made mistakes in the past. • 6. Fascinated By Arbus It is important to mention how some of the people that were photographed by Arbus are shown as characters in the movie. The opening scene is about Diane wanting to photograph people at a nudist camp, relating to real life photographs that she had taken of nudists. The whole film also makes a point of acknowledging that Arbus wanted to get to know the subject and familiarise herself with the people she was going to take a picture of. In the last scene she sits next to a woman who asks her if she is going to take a picture of her and Diane says, not yet then asks, tell me a secret which shows how she takes an interest into who they are as well as what they look like. Shainberg draws narrative from her real life and uses it many times throughout, especially in the way that he includes the dwarfs and giants as characters as they are some of the subjects in her photography. Also draws narrative in the way she gets to know her subjects, she spends a lot of time with them as Adams (2001 pg 133 114) mentions that she was Fascinated by portraits of the great sideshow performers, Arbus frequented the seedy neighborhoods, low budget carnivals, and cheap rooming houses where freaks had come to rest. There, she befriended them with her camera and brought their pictures to the walls of galleries and art museums. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms ( Adr ) Within the Australian justice system, Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms (ADR) have historically been perceived as a means whereby parties can seek to resolve a variety of disputes, but in a non judicial manner. As we move further into the 21st century, the rising costs associated with lengthy and often ineffective litigation, accompanied with a need to reduce burdens placed upon our legal system have allowed for a notable shift away from the courts as the primary means of dispute resolution, with a growing number of parties preferring ADR as the most appropriate means to bring about a more cooperative approach to legal matters. In the past, it has been largely up to the parties to identify the issues that are in dispute, which would then later be adjudicated in the appropriate court. Many scholars have strongly advocated in favour of adopting pre action requirements, whereby parties are encouraged to negotiate disputes prior to the commencement of litigation. Lord Wolff in his 1996 report into the UK justice system importantly notes that the present system... is too expensive in that the costs often exceed the value of the claim; too slow in bringing cases to a conclusion and too unequal: there is a lack of equality between the powerful, wealthy litigant and the under resourced litigant . His recommendations, alongside several others have been given significant weight within Australia, with the Attorney General initiating the National Alternative Dispute Resolution ... Discuss the advantages, disadvantages, and risks of each of these alternatives. Should they continue using Heavey?: The major reasons to stay with Heavey would be that they have developed a relationship by working together with CJI for a long time. CJI always counted on Heavey to deliver their high quality pumps on time and the relationship was so convenient that in fact CJI didn t even consider the pumps being an issue when they signed their contract with Great Lakes. Unfortunately, since Heavey is a small local company, CJI originally ignored that Heavey would have to expand their production capabilities. It seems like a lot to ask and expect from Heavey, and since there is no formal contract between them, it seems the most likely scenario is that CJI will either discontinue doing business with Heavey, or form some kind of partnership with them. They cannot however, solely rely on Heavey for pumps as they currently are, because it would almost guarantee them to fail their obligations to Great Lakes. Also, CJI likely does not receive much of a benefit (regarding cost savings) from Heavey utilizing economies of scale because they are very small company that produces products in batches. Additionally, while CJI has been able to rely on Heavey s expertise and product quality with regards to producing pumps, contracting their pump manufacturing has been a short term strategy so far and with their increased production it will begin to cost ... Of course, not only nutrition is a factor, but also taste and methods of cooking. Myoglobin Makes Meat Red You may be wondering, what gives red meatits characteristic color? Quite a simple answer, its slow twitch fibers contain more myoglobin, the molecules which transport oxygen from the bloodstream to muscles. Hence, muscles that an animal often utilizes becomes darker and reddish. For example, an ostrich consistently runs, so its muscles are quite active, explaining its red meat. As for white meat, it has less myoglobin since these muscles are utilized less frequently and in short bursts. Its fast twitch fibers work during emergency situations, and not in routine activity. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The passage of Prop 140 in 1990 had unintended consequences for the legislator. Not only did Prop 140 implement term limits to increase turnover in the legislation, but it also reduced funding. The reduction in funding led to the closure of bi partisan resources, such as the Assembly Office of Research. The combination of legislators with less experience due to the term limits, and lack of resources as result of the budget cuts, has dramatically weakened the effectivity of the legislator. Consequently, the vacuum created by prop 140 has been filled by lobbyist and the Governor. Recent studies illustrate a significant drop in declines made by the legislator to the Governor s budget since the implementation of term limits (Kousser). Although Proposition 2 does not directly fix the unintended consequences of Prop 140, it mitigates some of the negative effects, bringing more balance between the two branches. Due to the shortcomings of Proposition 58, the governor has much discretion in handling California debt, whereas Prop 2 calls for a mandatory 1.5% of the budget. Additionally, Proposition 2 mandates that scheduled fund transfers can only be repealed if the Governor calls a state of emergency and gains approval of the legislator. Before the invention of the printing press, to make multiple copies of books, people (most often monks,) would have to laboriously copy the text by hand. This was a very time consuming and costly manner, as the monks would commonly write on vellum (treated skins.) The printing press made copying text incredibly faster and much cheaper. Gutenberg s printing press meant more access to information, more dissent, more informed discussion and more widespread criticism of authorities, observes the British Library. Monitoring usage context is a vital component in our re search as well as it provides us with the insight and the understanding of the user s condition when he performed an certain activity. Context itself has been defined and revised by many researchers over the course of time partly because of the definition s need to take into consideration the advance ments in technology and what can actually be achieved in the reality which was not possible when it was not known earlier. The most recent and probably the most apt definition of context is that any information that can be used to characterise the situ ation of an entity. An entity is a person, place, or object that is considered relevant to the interaction between a user and an application, including the user and applications themselves. [Dey 2001]. What Is The Purpose Of Romantic Poems By Wordsworth LYRICAL BALLADS, A EXPERIMENT SULAIM SARFRAZ In the Advertisement included in the 1798 edition of the lyrical ballads, Wordsworth explained why this project of his was an experiment The majority of the following poems are to be considered as experiments. They were written chiefly with a view to ascertain how far the language of conversation in the middle and lower classes of society is adapted to the purpose of poetic pleasure. (Lyrical Ballads, Wordsworth) The basic purpose of this experiment was to revolt against the existing poetic practices that were completely devoid of emotion and based purely on logic and reason like the poetry of the Augustan Age. It brought novelty and freshness to English literature that had grown stale with the Augustan age. Though from the outside it brought revolutionary changes to the literary scene of the time, the preface and Wordsworth theory of poetry did not live up to what it preached as in many poems Wordsworth himself completely discarded his own ideals and his partner in the creation of lyrical ballads Coleridge himself wrote Biographia Literaria, a part of which is solely the criticism on Wordsworth s theory of poetry. He rejected some of Wordsworth s ideas completely i.e. that of poetic diction and the language of real men etc while he still believed in the great importance of Nature in poetry that is the common characteristic of all romantic literature, but at the same time his poems are not solely based on the natural. He believed that the objective of poetry is only to give pleasure not to convey a truth which is the complete opposite of what Wordsworth believed and that it should have organic unity, the essence of which is that just like a living organism that cannot be separated from any of its parts without injury, all parts of a poem must fit together as a whole. My goal today is to explain why the confederate statue should stay or should be taken down everywhere in the United States. There is three Main points that I m going to states and defend in this Essay and tell you why I believe in them and there purposes. First why we need to keep them and not take them down. Second they will help educated the future people for the better. Last of all I think that we should keep the statues all the way and this is why. Why should we keep the statues you may ask, well there is no right or wrong answer for this topic but I will do my best to defend my point and belief of why these statues should not be torn down. The biggest reason I don t want these statues torn down is that it s not just a big piece of metal sitting there or a regular statue, these are statues that have history behind them over the years on when the south fought the north for a big turn for American history. People think they are racist or wrong, but really they show where we are from and what we are about. This Battle goes back to a massive shooting in 2015, when Dylan Roof shot nine people in a dominant black church in Charleston, SC. Thus starting of the Statues being taken down across America. • 24. Film Analysis Of The Film The Scarlett Letter The Scarlett Letter 1995 Film Analysis The Scarlett Letter, is about a young mistress named Hester Prynne. In 1666, after moving to the Massachusetts Bay Colony from England to await her husbands arrival, Hester beings to fall in love with the town s pastor, Arthur Dimmesdale. Roger Prynne, Hester s husband, and all other passengers of an English ship are presumed dead in the aftermath of an attack. After she and Arthur consummate their love, Hester finds herself pregnant. Hester soon becomes the subject of idle gossip among the colonists after she shares her radical thoughts and views on the Bible and the Puritan way of life. Two of the other mistresses in the colony also witnessed Hester become ill on two separate occasions during the morning hours, so she is called to appear before the Elders of the colony to be accused of Heresy, Fornication, and Adultery. Hester is then arrested and imprisoned for her indiscretion. On the day of giving birth to her bastard child, Pearl, Hester is humiliated in front of the entire town and made to wear a red A for adulterer on her chest and to also followed around by a drummer boy that bangs his drum wherever she goes in public. Roger Prynne resurfaces and was never actually killed by the Indians, but was captured and held prisoner. After learning about the scandal of his wife, Roger joins the colony under an alias, Dr. Roger Chillingworth . Roger eventually scalps and kills a male colonist that he thought was Arthur, and blames the murder on the Algonquian Indians, which prompts the declaration of war on the Indians by the colonists. Roger commits suicide for his wrong doings, Hester and Arthur abandon the Massachusetts Bay Colony, and the scarlet letter to set out for Carolina to start a new life. I do believe that The Scarlett Letter is historically accurate. I think the writers and directors accurately communicated the sense of historic time and place, it really felt like I left the 21st century and stepped back in time. There are several pieces of evidence within the film that are historically accurate. It s how they act when things aren t good that tells you who they really are. ― Megan Jacobson (Goodreads, 56 Quotes ) Much like the world around us, literature has many elements that have the reader portray their own understanding and perspective of it. In Sweat, Zora Neale Hurstongives the reader many different situations where many readers can have several viewpoints. This seems to be very similar to the Bible, where a child of Godcan read the same scripture as another and have a completely different meaning in their eyes. Zora Hurston uses many elements that focus on the idea that actions one does speak louder than words, by the use of religious imagery and Delia, the wife. Sweat s narrator point of view is told in third person omniscient, meaning the narrator switches from character to character constantly and does not restrict the reader to one character s perspective. Hurston uses this element to introduce us to each of the characters daily life and their belief in Christianity. Not only does it give us each character s standpoint, but also clarification of an outside view and provide the reader with additional information and background of the married couple. To begin the story, Hurston, with the use of the narrator being from third person omniscient, introduces us to Delia as a wash woman who was working on a Sunday night all the way until eleven o clock after church earlier in the ... Creon, a character in the Greek tragedy Antigone , resembles a perfect example of a tragic hero. This play was written by Sophocles, a historic playwright during the 5th century. It begins with the illegal burial of Polyneices, Antigone s beloved brother. Creon, the King of Thebes, is coerced to condemn his niece Antigone to death. The change in most of the characters was a result of Creon s tragic flaws. Creon may think he is infallible, but really he has many flaws that lead to his downfall. The first is anger, which causes Creon to make poor choices. After a heated debate with his son Haemon, Creon becomes angry and says, I ll take her to a deserted spot / And bury her alive in a trench (Sophocles 20). Through Creon s anger he influences Antigone s death and by doing so, she commits suicide. Aside from having anger, Creon is also a stubborn person. By his stubbornness he does not want to be proven wrong so he says, You ll never persuade me to bury that corpse (Sophocles 24). He shows his stubbornness by saying that he will never change his mind about Antigone. When Teiresias, the fortuneteller, hears this he explains to Creon that if he does not change his mind he will cause another death. After hearing this Creon must bury the body of Polyneices and free Antigone, because fate never lies. Little does he know that he is too late and the prophecy comes true. The movie highlights serious concerns of gender discrimination, which invite a critical sociological theory. Whether or not women contribute to the stability of the society is the main question this movie seeks to answer. I chose the functionalism perspective (otherwise known as the functionalist perspective). Emile Durkheim formulated the theory after taking interest in how the society remains stable or how social order is achieved. In other words, the theory is concerned with the macro level society. Functionalism looks at each segment of the society in terms of its contributions to the overall good health of the society. This means that the society should not be taken as the total of its constituent parts; instead, each of these constituent parts should be looked at as functioning to achieve the stability of the whole society (Arruza 10). Altogether, with various events that occured over the course of the year, it caught the attention of many Americans and showed that progress was being made as well as there was hope that a country where all men are truly created equal could exist. The movie titled Mississippi Burning does an admirable job at revealing the internal battle that our nation was going through at this time and is an important film to be shown to young generations so that we are not doomed to repeat events of our past. The film Mississippi Burning starts out by displaying how three Civil Rights Workers get tailed, caught, and murdered in the woods by members of the Ku Klux Klan. The movie reveals to viewers, through conversation, the clashing personalities of the two FBI agents, Agent Ward and Agent Anderson, who came to Mississippi to investigate the missing persons case of the three boys. It becomes obvious over the course of the film that the two agents do not exactly see eye to eye on how to operate the investigation, including tactics to get the information they need. In addition, unfortunately, the two agents find out pretty quickly that they are not welcome in the town, as it is essentially a community run by the KKK. Many of the businesses in the town, and even the police department are controlled by members of the Klan, making it a society full of racist hatred. The two agents, after not being able to get very far on their own, call for reinforcements to assist with finding information for their investigation. • 34. Poetry Analysis Of Sonnet 18 By William Shakespeare Poetry Analysis Sonnet 18 Poetry is a form of literature that uses powerful aesthetic and rhythmic qualities of language, such as phonaesthetics, sound symbolism, and metre, to evoke meanings in addition to, or instead of, the prosaic ostensible meaning. It can be used to describe a person or tell a random, captivating story. Love poetry has been used since the beginning of writing to express feelings and thoughts; usually about another person. Love poetry is said to have a huge effect, and connection, to the way gender and its roles are portrayed. This is not always the case, as Love is limitless and not confined to definitive boundaries. William Shakespeare definitely supported this theory as no one can ever be certain who he is talking about in his sonnets. He talks about love for people, or a person, and not for a gender.is one of the most famous poets, and is most well known for his love poems and plays. Shakespeare s sonnet 18 focuses on the loveliness of a friend or lover. The speaker is initially asked a rhetorical question comparing them to a summer s day. Shakespeare then goes on to introduce the pros and cons of the weather; from a perfect English summer s day, to a less welcoming dimmed sun and rough winds. In the end, however, it is the riveting poetry that will keep the burning love alive, defying even death. William Shakespeare s sonnets are known around the world, and are studied by most students. With these ideas in mind, motivations like: the military, politics, demographic features, economics, and social classes had influence for the future of Africa and countries like Europe, Germany, and Russia were more powerful than Africa. Imperialism shaped when borders were opened, and authority was limited. A nation that is thriving on foreign trade and control outside its borders is more likely to imperialize. Christian members in Europe established churches in conquered territories during the nineteenth century. With this Western cultural values were spread. Europe found the option to use imperialism to their advantage when the scramble for Africa occurred. This is when The Berlin West Africa conference occurred regarding the split of Africa into colonies. The country was so behind with the rapid industrialization, that new diffusion of ideas was necessary and sought out by citizens. Colliding of religions also involved new education and new foreign languages. As seen in document five, philanthropy was a key part and wanted five percent better through Europe at the time. This showed Africa s hesitant distinction through the late 1880 s to 1950 s and was portrayed across the globe as a developing reputation. Problems with governments, leaders, and trade reflected onto Africa that also left religious views and questions in the air. Against imperialism, Africa saw no hope in ever regaining independence. Colonial conflict struct, and a self government without the help of other countries was out of the picture. If it can t be held, how can you give someone yours? Last clue: If it can be measured why can t you save it up for different purposes? What are we talking about here? After three clues you should have answered time. So how do people sacrifice time that can be measured, not held, and not given? For that answer we need to talk to a god. Chronos is a Greek god of time, but unlike other gods, sacrificing time wouldn t t please him. I have learned this firsthand by mostly trial and error. My trial and error tests had me sitting on my comfy couch, legs up, facing my 60 inch (measured diagonally) watching a TV show. My MacBook computer would be on my lap being ignored even though I had every intention to start my schoolwork. If Chronos was sitting next to me, the Greek god would smell of times lost and be fuming from his mouths, all three of them. I was in every sense sacrificing time rather then using it wisely. In a deep echoing god like voice Chrono honors me with the best advice the Greek god of time could give, Use my time wisely or before you know it, your time will be up mortal. The Greek gods statement rang true to the same pitch of my ears as I turned off the TV and started my paper. • 43. Steven Goldberg Male Dominance Theory Male dominance A biology based theory on competitiveness is the male dominance theory . Developer of this theory, Steven Goldberg, presents in his book why the biological difference between men and women leads to male domination (1993). This biological difference is mainly based to be found the difference in testosterone levels between men and women (Goldberg, 1993: 131). The level of testosterone would result in men having greater tendencies to be aggressive and a drive to dominate others. This aggressive advantage would men also make more competitive and self assertive. In combination this leads to men being more elicited to be dominant on average than women on average. Men s aggressive advantage would especially stand out in situations that are hierarchically structured. Goldberg expands his theory by connecting the previous with the presence of institutions as he argues that testosterone is a required condition for creating institutions (Golberg, 1993; 131). Through this he suggests that the testosterone induced dominance is a necessity in building hierarchies. In all, Goldbergs theory does not state that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 44. Second Language Acquisition ( Sla ) Second language acquisition (SLA) has long been a topic of interest for many researchers such as linguists, psychologists, and educators. Through the study of SLA, researchers may better understand the basic properties of languages, how languages are processed in the brain, and how to facilitate the acquisition of a second language. A common topic of inquiry among SLA researchers is why some people seem to learn new languages with ease while others do not. This question is especially important to foreign language educators who want all of their students to succeed at becoming proficient in a second language. In order to provide the proper support their students need, educators must be aware of the many factors that influence SLA. In order to investigate why some language learners appear to be more successful than others, researchers examine the differences between individual learners. The current consensus among experts is that individual learners learn differently depending on variables like learning opportunities, the motivation to learn, individual differences and learning styles in second language acquisition(Bista, 2008, p. 2). Therefore an individual s success is dependent on the combination of many factors. Educators may attempt to determine an individual s chances at learning a language by measuring their language aptitude. While researchers thus far failed to create a universal definition for language aptitude, they have identified some aspects of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Theme Of Imagination In Finding Neverland Childhood is defined as the state of being a child or the period during which a person is a child. Imagination is defined as being the faculty or action of forming new ideas, or images or concepts of external objects not present to the senses. In the film Finding Neverland, the influence of imagination and the conclusion of childhood are themes that affect the characters of the movie. The theme of imagination reaches out to each character that uses it in different ways to help themselves deal with situations or cope. The end of childhood affects a few characters, particularly the children, which each have a moment where they, or other characters, realize that their childhood is coming to an end and they are starting to grow up. The film Finding Neverlandis mainly centered on the power of imagination and how each character uses imagination as their own tool. In the film, James connects with the Davies boys by playing pretend and using their imagination such as when they played pirates or Indians. Peter, George, Michael, and Jack, the Davies boys, all use their imagination to cope with the recent death of their father. They escape to their own imaginations in order to ignore the pain that came with the loss of their father. This is evident when the boys are playing the Wild West with James. In the game, James is an Indian who has been wounded and tells Peter I take you as my own son. Peter then tells James you are not my father and runs off clearly angered and upset. Sylvia then reveals to James that Peter has not been the same since his father died and she does not believe he has even cried about it. I believe that once James meets the familyand learns of this loss, he sees how the boys to do this and then continues to encourage their creativity to lessen the pain. James uses his imagination to avoid growing up and facing the world for what it really is. He escapes to his imagination to live out his own reality he calls Neverland, a place where no one grows up and good always triumphs over evil. He shares his reality of Neverland with the boys and allows them to imagine their versions. Analysis Of The Poem Maus My Father Bleed History Essay The curiosity of Artie about Vladek saying that Anja was not pretty, during the fight between Vladek and Lucia, incites Artie to interrupt Vladek s story of the past. The interruptions that Art Spiegelman writes into his comic, Maus My Father Bleed History, breaks up Vladek s story about surviving the Holocaust, which is what happens in the scene with Vladek and Lucia s fight. Spiegelman uses the interruptions of Vladek s story to lead out of it and then back into Mausto assist in clarifying information for the reader, to show the father son relationship between Artie and Vladek, and also to explain how Maus was written. The incidents that Spiegelman uses within his panels and text work as a way to give insight into how Artie and Vladek s father son relationship works. A case in which Artie and Vladek s relationship is shown is right after Vladek tells Artie the story about Lucia and he says, But this is what I just told you about Lucia and so I don t want you should write this in your book (Spiegelman 23). To help interrupt Vladek s story Spiegelman makes the panel in which this dialogue takes place have no border around it, which gives the panel a sense of breaking up the story that Vladek was telling to Artie.
