ADMIRALTY Digital Publications (ADP) are digital versions
of paper ADMIRALTY Nautical Publications. The ADP product
range consists of five products:
 ADMIRALTY DIGITAL LIST OF LIGHTS
 ADMIRALTY DIGITAL RADIO SIGNALS 1,2,3,4,5,6
 ADMIRALTY TOTAL TIDE
The ADP applications will run on any PC meeting the
Microsoft recommended minimum specification for the
following operating systems:
 Windows 7 (SP1)
 Windows 8.1 (SP1)
 Windows 10
The UKHO supports the two most recent versions of
software. This is currently ADP V17 and V18.
ADP V16 will continue to be supported until January 2018.
This guide will take you through the steps required to
install ADP on your PC. Before starting, you will need the ADP
V18 software DVD. This will be supplied by your ADMIRALTY
Chart Agent:
1. Insert the ADP V18 DVD into your PC. If you have autoplay
enabled, the ADP installer window will be shown.
If the installer window is not shown automatically, navigate
to the DVD and double-click the file named setup.exe.
2. Click OK.
3. The installation welcome page will be shown.
Click Next to continue.
4. The ‘Licence Agreement’ window will be shown.
Read the licence agreement and click
I accept the terms of the agreement
if you are happy to proceed.
5. Click Next.
6. The application is now ready to be installed.
Click Install to continue.
7. When the installer has finished, a window stating that ADP
has been successfully installed will be shown.
Click Finish to exit the installation wizard.
8. The following ADP application icons will be added to your
desktop:
- ADLL, ADRS 1, 3, 4, 5, ADRS 2, ADRS 6 and ATT products
- Licence Key Wizard
- Data Updating Wizard
 Note: Some systems will require you to restart your PC to
complete the installation.
 Your ADP applications have now been installed and are ready
to be activated.
 This guide will take you through the steps required to activate
your ADP applications.
 Before starting, you will need to have installed the ADP on
your PC.
Activating via internet
1. Double-click the ADP Licence Key Wizard desktop icon to
open the ‘Licence Key Wizard’.

2. Click Next.
3. Enter the Start-Up key that was supplied by your ADMIRALTY
Chart Agent into the field provided.

4. Click Next.
5. A window will be shown asking whether you would like to
activate using a direct internet connection or by email.
Click Activate over the internet to select it.

6. Click Next.
7. Your ADP applications will be activated automatically over the
internet.
You will now be able to launch the ADP applications and
begin using your products.

1. Double-click the ADP Licence Key Wizard desktop icon to
open the ‘Licence Key Wizard’.

2. Click Next.
3. Enter the Start-Up key that was supplied by your ADMIRALTY
Chart Agent into the field provided.

5. A window will be shown asking whether you would like to
activate using a direct internet connection or by email.
Click Request or add an Activation Key to select it.

6. Click Next.
7. Click Request an Activation Key to select it.

8. Click Next.
9. Select the PC you are activating by clicking MAIN or BACKUP.

10. Click Next to request an activation key for the selected PC.
11. A window will appear asking how you want to receive your
Activation Key. Click Request your Activation Key
 directly by email.

12. Click Close to exit the wizard.
13. When you receive the activation key, double-click the
Activation Licence Key Wizard desktop icon.

14. Click Add an Activation Key to select it.
15. Click Next.

16. A message stating that activation has been successful will
be shown.
You will now be able to launch the ADP applications and
begin using your products.
This guide will take you through the process of updating
your ADP products.
This can be done using the Internet, email, website or from
the ADP Update DVD.
Updating via the internet
If you have been provided with an ADP Update DVD by
your ADMIRALTY Chart Agent, it is recommended that you
update from it first in order to reduce the amount of data you
will need to download.

1. Double-click the ADP Updating Wizard desktop icon to open
the ‘Data Updating Wizard’.

2. The first time the Wizard is run you will be asked to confirm
your data collection preferences. You will only be asked to do
this once, although you can change your selection at any time.

When you have made a selection, click OK to continue.
3. Click Obtain updates direct from the ADMIRALTY web service
to select it.

4. Click Next.
5. Click Update Automatically from the internet to select it.

6. Click Next.
7. Available updates will be shown. Updates that are not required can
be deselected by clicking on them.

When you are happy with your selection, click Next to start
the updating process.

8. When the wizard has finished updating, a message stating ‘All
Done’ will be shown.

To check your update status, click Preview to view the
updated certificate.
9. Click Finish to exit the Wizard.
Your ADP data is now up-to-date.

1. Double-click on the ADP Updating Wizard desktop icon to
open the ‘Data Updating Wizard’.

2. Click Obtain updates direct from the ADMIRALTY web service
to select it.
3. Click Next.

4. Click Send e-mail to request update to select it.
5. Click Next.

6. Available updates will be shown. Updates that are not
required can be deselected by clicking on them.

When you have made your selection, click Next.

7. If the PC has access to email, an email can be automatically
generated by the application. Alternatively, a response file can
be saved for use on another PC with email capability.
For PCs without email –
Click Store the request in a file to send later or to send
from another PC to select it.
Click Next.
For PCs without email –
Click the Browse button and navigate to the location where
you want to save the request file.
When you have selected a location, click Finish to close the
‘Browse For Folders’ window.
For PCs without email –
Click Next to create a request file.
Copy the request file to the PC which has email access and
send it to:
ADPMailGateway@UKHO.gov.uk
You do not need to enter a subject.
For PCs with email –
Click Send the email now to select it,
Click Finish to create an email.
For PCs with email –
Send the email with the attached request file to:
ADPMailGateway@UKHO.gov.uk
You do not need to enter a subject.

8. When you receive a response email, save the attached update
file to the PC where ADP is installed.
9. Double-click the ADP Updating Wizard desktop icon to open
the ‘Data Updating Wizard’.

via e-mail, FTP or the weekly update DVD to select it.
11. Click Next.

click to select it, then click Open.

1. Insert the ‘ADP update disc’ into your PC and double-click the
ADP Updating Wizard desktop icon to open the ‘Data Updating
Wizard’.

Manually Downloading Updates
1. Double-click the ADP Updating Wizard desktop icon to open
the ‘Data Updating Wizard’.

4. Click Connect to the ADMIRALTY website to manually
download files to select it.

6. Your web browser will open and the ADMIRALTY website will
be shown.

The updating process is split up into steps on the
ADMIRALTY webpage.
Step 1
Click version V16, V17 or V18 depending on the version of
the ADP software you are using.
Please note that the V16 option willbe removed in January
2018

Click to select the products you want to update.

Click on the entry for each product you selected in Step 2
to show the ‘Week number’ drop-down menu.

Click on the week that your products are currently updated
to select it, and repeat for each product selected in Step 2.
Note: If updating multiple ADP products, the date selected
must be the same for each. If your ADP products are currently
updated to different weeks, you will need to repeat this part of
the guide for each product to get the correct updates.

A geographic map will be shown for each product. Click
the areas you want to update to select them. Repeat this for
each product you are updating.

7. When you have made your selection, click Submit update
request.
8. A page will be shown with links to the requested updates.
Click each link to start a download.

9. When your ADP update files have finished downloading,
double-click the ADP Updating Wizard desktop icon to open the
‘Data Updating Wizard’.

10. Click Apply updates you’ve already downloaded or received
via e-mail, FTP or the weekly update DVD to select it.
11. Click Next.

‘All Done’ will be shown.

To check your update status, click Preview to view the
updated certificate.
18. Click Finish when the wizard has finished updating.
Your ADP data is now up-to-date.
It is possible to see updates applied to the ADP products.
Updates are displayed as a yellow pencil icon.
This displays the last 6 updates within the area covered. A
full explanation is available in the in-application help files.
The position of the pencil has significance where there is a
hierarchy of objects.
 A pencil at the bottom-right shows that child objects have
changed.
 A pencil at the top-left shows that the object itself has
changed.
 Both pencils show that the object and child objects have
changed.
The ADP applications feature in-built help guides that will
take you through all aspects of using your ADP products. This
guide will show you how to access and use the in-application
help.
Accessing the Help menu
1. Load any ADP application by doubleclicking the appropriate
desktop icon.
2. From the menu, click Help to show the drop-down menu for
the application.

4. The Help window will be shown.

From here you can access supporting pages on different
areas and features of the ADP product you are using.
Navigating the Help guide
There are three ways to find information from the Help
window. These are the ‘Contents’ menu and the ‘Index’ and
‘Search’ functions.

The ‘Contents’ page provides a structured menu tree of
supporting information. To use the ‘Contents’ menu, click on a
‘+’ box on the menu to expand it. This will show subsections
within the topic selected.

The Index allows you to find topics within the Help guide
based on keywords. Click on an index entry to show the
associated section.

You can also search for keywords by entering one or more
words into the field provided. Matches will be shown as you
type.

The Search function allows you to locate sections of the
guide that contain certain words or phrases. Enter on or more
words into the field provided and click List Topics to bring back
a list of matching results.
Creating a Support File
Your ADMIRALTY Chart Agent may request an ADP Support
File when assisting you with an issue.
This guide will take you through the steps required to
create a Support File from the ADP applications.

1. Open any of the ADP applications from your desktop by
double-clicking the appropriate desktop icon.
2. On the ADP toolbar, click Help to show the drop-down menu.

3. On the drop-down menu, click About List of Lights.
Note: this title will vary for each ADP application

4. The ‘About’ window will be shown. Click Support.
5. On the drop-down menu, click to select the reason why you
are sending this support file from the options provided.

Note: If you select ‘Other Reason’ you will need to provide
additional information.
6. When you have selected a reason from the drop-down menu,
click OK to continue.

7. You will be shown a selection of options asking how you
would like to create the support file:
This option will automatically create an email containing
your Support File if the PC has access to email.

This option will create a text file containing the Support
File information which can then be saved ready for transmission.
This option will bring up a print window which will allow
you to print a copy of the Support File information if the PC is
connected to a printer.

This option will copy the Support File information as text
to the windows clipboard. From here it can be pasted into an
email or text file of your choice.
Removing invalid
activation keys in
ADMIRALTY Digital
Publications (ADP)
Select the option
“Obtain or
manually add
another
Activation Key”
Then click “Next”
In the Valid Keys
Screen, click the
drop down box to
view all installed
keys. Highlight
the invalid key
and press “delete”
on your
keyboard.
A warning will
appear to confirm
if you wish to
delete the
activation key.
Click “Yes” to
continue.
The invalid key is
now removed from
the system.
If necessary, repeat
these steps to
remove all the
invalid or old
activation keys in
the system registry.
Click “Close” to
Log in first to your computer as
Administrator, or contact your IT
support department if you do not
hold full rights as computer
administrator.

windows
control
panel and
select
Programs
and
Features.
In the list of
programs,
select
“Admiralty
Digital
Publications
” and click
“Uninstall”.
A message
may appear to
confirm that
you wish to
uninstall the
software. Click
“Yes” to
continue.
If a message
appears asking
you to close any
open
applications,
choose
“Automatically
close
applications and
attempt to
The system
will then
remove the
program.
Once complete, the next step will be
to remove any remaining ADP data
still held on the sytem.
Insert the ADP installation DVD or
open the folder containing
installation program in your
computer.
Open the folder
“Total Uninstall”
then double click
the file
“TotalUninstall.e
xe”.
Click “Next”.
All remaining
ADP data will
now be
removed.
Once
complete, click
“Finish” to
close.

  • 2. ADMIRALTY Digital Publications (ADP) are digital versions of paper ADMIRALTY Nautical Publications. The ADP product range consists of five products:  ADMIRALTY DIGITAL LIST OF LIGHTS  ADMIRALTY DIGITAL RADIO SIGNALS 1,2,3,4,5,6  ADMIRALTY TOTAL TIDE
  • 3. The ADP applications will run on any PC meeting the Microsoft recommended minimum specification for the following operating systems:  Windows 7 (SP1)  Windows 8.1 (SP1)  Windows 10
  • 4. The UKHO supports the two most recent versions of software. This is currently ADP V17 and V18. ADP V16 will continue to be supported until January 2018.
  • 5. This guide will take you through the steps required to install ADP on your PC. Before starting, you will need the ADP V18 software DVD. This will be supplied by your ADMIRALTY Chart Agent:
  • 6. 1. Insert the ADP V18 DVD into your PC. If you have autoplay enabled, the ADP installer window will be shown.
  • 7. If the installer window is not shown automatically, navigate to the DVD and double-click the file named setup.exe.
  • 8. 2. Click OK. 3. The installation welcome page will be shown. Click Next to continue.
  • 9. 4. The ‘Licence Agreement’ window will be shown. Read the licence agreement and click I accept the terms of the agreement if you are happy to proceed.
  • 10. 5. Click Next. 6. The application is now ready to be installed. Click Install to continue.
  • 11. 7. When the installer has finished, a window stating that ADP has been successfully installed will be shown. Click Finish to exit the installation wizard.
  • 12. 8. The following ADP application icons will be added to your desktop: - ADLL, ADRS 1, 3, 4, 5, ADRS 2, ADRS 6 and ATT products - Licence Key Wizard - Data Updating Wizard
  • 13.  Note: Some systems will require you to restart your PC to complete the installation.  Your ADP applications have now been installed and are ready to be activated.
  • 14.  This guide will take you through the steps required to activate your ADP applications.  Before starting, you will need to have installed the ADP on your PC.
  • 15. Activating via internet 1. Double-click the ADP Licence Key Wizard desktop icon to open the ‘Licence Key Wizard’.
  • 16. Activating via internet 2. Click Next. 3. Enter the Start-Up key that was supplied by your ADMIRALTY Chart Agent into the field provided.
  • 17. Activating via internet 4. Click Next. 5. A window will be shown asking whether you would like to activate using a direct internet connection or by email. Click Activate over the internet to select it.
  • 18. Activating via internet 6. Click Next. 7. Your ADP applications will be activated automatically over the internet. You will now be able to launch the ADP applications and begin using your products.
  • 19. Activating via email 1. Double-click the ADP Licence Key Wizard desktop icon to open the ‘Licence Key Wizard’.
  • 20. Activating via email 2. Click Next. 3. Enter the Start-Up key that was supplied by your ADMIRALTY Chart Agent into the field provided.
  • 21. Activating via email 4. Click Next. 5. A window will be shown asking whether you would like to activate using a direct internet connection or by email. Click Request or add an Activation Key to select it.
  • 22. Activating via email 6. Click Next. 7. Click Request an Activation Key to select it.
  • 23. Activating via email 8. Click Next. 9. Select the PC you are activating by clicking MAIN or BACKUP.
  • 24. Activating via email 10. Click Next to request an activation key for the selected PC. 11. A window will appear asking how you want to receive your Activation Key. Click Request your Activation Key  directly by email.
  • 25. Activating via email 12. Click Close to exit the wizard. 13. When you receive the activation key, double-click the Activation Licence Key Wizard desktop icon.
  • 26. Activating via email 14. Click Add an Activation Key to select it. 15. Click Next.
  • 27. Activating via email 16. A message stating that activation has been successful will be shown. You will now be able to launch the ADP applications and begin using your products.
  • 28. This guide will take you through the process of updating your ADP products. This can be done using the Internet, email, website or from the ADP Update DVD.
  • 29. Updating via the internet If you have been provided with an ADP Update DVD by your ADMIRALTY Chart Agent, it is recommended that you update from it first in order to reduce the amount of data you will need to download.
  • 30. Updating via the internet 1. Double-click the ADP Updating Wizard desktop icon to open the ‘Data Updating Wizard’.
  • 31. Updating via the internet 2. The first time the Wizard is run you will be asked to confirm your data collection preferences. You will only be asked to do this once, although you can change your selection at any time.
  • 32. Updating via the internet When you have made a selection, click OK to continue. 3. Click Obtain updates direct from the ADMIRALTY web service to select it.
  • 33. Updating via the internet 4. Click Next. 5. Click Update Automatically from the internet to select it.
  • 34. Updating via the internet 6. Click Next. 7. Available updates will be shown. Updates that are not required can be deselected by clicking on them.
  • 35. Updating via the internet When you are happy with your selection, click Next to start the updating process.
  • 36. Updating via the internet 8. When the wizard has finished updating, a message stating ‘All Done’ will be shown.
  • 37. Updating via the internet To check your update status, click Preview to view the updated certificate. 9. Click Finish to exit the Wizard. Your ADP data is now up-to-date.
  • 38. Updating via email 1. Double-click on the ADP Updating Wizard desktop icon to open the ‘Data Updating Wizard’.
  • 39. Updating via email 2. Click Obtain updates direct from the ADMIRALTY web service to select it. 3. Click Next.
  • 40. Updating via email 4. Click Send e-mail to request update to select it. 5. Click Next.
  • 41. Updating via email 6. Available updates will be shown. Updates that are not required can be deselected by clicking on them.
  • 42. Updating via email When you have made your selection, click Next.
  • 43. Updating via email 7. If the PC has access to email, an email can be automatically generated by the application. Alternatively, a response file can be saved for use on another PC with email capability.
  • 44. For PCs without email – Click Store the request in a file to send later or to send from another PC to select it. Click Next.
  • 45. For PCs without email – Click the Browse button and navigate to the location where you want to save the request file. When you have selected a location, click Finish to close the ‘Browse For Folders’ window.
  • 46. For PCs without email – Click Next to create a request file. Copy the request file to the PC which has email access and send it to: ADPMailGateway@UKHO.gov.uk You do not need to enter a subject.
  • 47. For PCs with email – Click Send the email now to select it, Click Finish to create an email.
  • 48. For PCs with email – Send the email with the attached request file to: ADPMailGateway@UKHO.gov.uk You do not need to enter a subject.
  • 49. Updating via email 8. When you receive a response email, save the attached update file to the PC where ADP is installed. 9. Double-click the ADP Updating Wizard desktop icon to open the ‘Data Updating Wizard’.
  • 50. Updating via email 10. Click Apply updates you’ve already downloaded or received via e-mail, FTP or the weekly update DVD to select it. 11. Click Next.

  • 62. Manually Downloading Updates 1. Double-click the ADP Updating Wizard desktop icon to open the ‘Data Updating Wizard’.

  • 66. Manually Downloading Updates The updating process is split up into steps on the ADMIRALTY webpage. Step 1 Click version V16, V17 or V18 depending on the version of the ADP software you are using. Please note that the V16 option willbe removed in January 2018
  • 67. Manually Downloading Updates Step 2 Click to select the products you want to update.
  • 68. Manually Downloading Updates Step 3 Click on the entry for each product you selected in Step 2 to show the ‘Week number’ drop-down menu.
  • 69. Manually Downloading Updates Click on the week that your products are currently updated to select it, and repeat for each product selected in Step 2. Note: If updating multiple ADP products, the date selected must be the same for each. If your ADP products are currently updated to different weeks, you will need to repeat this part of the guide for each product to get the correct updates.
  • 70. Manually Downloading Updates Step 4 A geographic map will be shown for each product. Click the areas you want to update to select them. Repeat this for each product you are updating.
  • 71. Manually Downloading Updates 7. When you have made your selection, click Submit update request. 8. A page will be shown with links to the requested updates. Click each link to start a download.

  • 80. It is possible to see updates applied to the ADP products. Updates are displayed as a yellow pencil icon. This displays the last 6 updates within the area covered. A full explanation is available in the in-application help files. The position of the pencil has significance where there is a hierarchy of objects.
  • 81.  A pencil at the bottom-right shows that child objects have changed.  A pencil at the top-left shows that the object itself has changed.
  • 82.  Both pencils show that the object and child objects have changed.
  • 83. The ADP applications feature in-built help guides that will take you through all aspects of using your ADP products. This guide will show you how to access and use the in-application help.
  • 84. Accessing the Help menu 1. Load any ADP application by doubleclicking the appropriate desktop icon. 2. From the menu, click Help to show the drop-down menu for the application.
  • 85. Accessing the Help menu 3. Click Contents. 4. The Help window will be shown.
  • 86. Accessing the Help menu From here you can access supporting pages on different areas and features of the ADP product you are using.
  • 87. Navigating the Help guide There are three ways to find information from the Help window. These are the ‘Contents’ menu and the ‘Index’ and ‘Search’ functions.
  • 88. Navigating the Help guide Contents The ‘Contents’ page provides a structured menu tree of supporting information. To use the ‘Contents’ menu, click on a ‘+’ box on the menu to expand it. This will show subsections within the topic selected.
  • 89. Navigating the Help guide Index The Index allows you to find topics within the Help guide based on keywords. Click on an index entry to show the associated section.
  • 90. Navigating the Help guide You can also search for keywords by entering one or more words into the field provided. Matches will be shown as you type.
  • 91. Navigating the Help guide Search The Search function allows you to locate sections of the guide that contain certain words or phrases. Enter on or more words into the field provided and click List Topics to bring back a list of matching results.
  • 92. Creating a Support File Your ADMIRALTY Chart Agent may request an ADP Support File when assisting you with an issue. This guide will take you through the steps required to create a Support File from the ADP applications.
  • 93. Creating a Support File 1. Open any of the ADP applications from your desktop by double-clicking the appropriate desktop icon. 2. On the ADP toolbar, click Help to show the drop-down menu.
  • 94. Creating a Support File 3. On the drop-down menu, click About List of Lights. Note: this title will vary for each ADP application
  • 95. Creating a Support File 4. The ‘About’ window will be shown. Click Support. 5. On the drop-down menu, click to select the reason why you are sending this support file from the options provided.
  • 96. Creating a Support File Note: If you select ‘Other Reason’ you will need to provide additional information. 6. When you have selected a reason from the drop-down menu, click OK to continue.
  • 97. Creating a Support File 7. You will be shown a selection of options asking how you would like to create the support file: This option will automatically create an email containing your Support File if the PC has access to email.
  • 98. Creating a Support File This option will create a text file containing the Support File information which can then be saved ready for transmission. This option will bring up a print window which will allow you to print a copy of the Support File information if the PC is connected to a printer.
  • 99. Creating a Support File This option will copy the Support File information as text to the windows clipboard. From here it can be pasted into an email or text file of your choice.
  • 100. Removing invalid activation keys in ADMIRALTY Digital Publications (ADP)
  • 101. Select the option “Obtain or manually add another Activation Key” Then click “Next”
  • 102. In the Valid Keys Screen, click the drop down box to view all installed keys. Highlight the invalid key and press “delete” on your keyboard.
  • 103. A warning will appear to confirm if you wish to delete the activation key. Click “Yes” to continue.
  • 104. The invalid key is now removed from the system. If necessary, repeat these steps to remove all the invalid or old activation keys in the system registry. Click “Close” to
  • 105. Log in first to your computer as Administrator, or contact your IT support department if you do not hold full rights as computer administrator.
  • 107. In the list of programs, select “Admiralty Digital Publications ” and click “Uninstall”.
  • 108. A message may appear to confirm that you wish to uninstall the software. Click “Yes” to continue.

  • 111. Once complete, the next step will be to remove any remaining ADP data still held on the sytem. Insert the ADP installation DVD or open the folder containing installation program in your computer.
  • 112. Open the folder “Total Uninstall” then double click the file “TotalUninstall.e xe”. Click “Next”.
  • 113. All remaining ADP data will now be removed. Once complete, click “Finish” to close.
