This document presents the design project of a 150-seater passenger aircraft. Specifications of existing aircrafts are analyzed to determine optimum values for the design. Weight estimation is performed to calculate the take-off gross weight. The CFM56-5A1 engine is selected as the powerplant. Aerodynamic analyses include lift and drag estimation using equations. The NACA 664-221 airfoil is chosen. A narrow body fuselage and tricycle landing gear are selected. Dimensional drawings and performance parameters are provided. The project demonstrates applying aeronautical engineering principles to conceptualize an aircraft design.
Developing a Programme for Engine Design Calculations of a Commercial AirlinerIJMER
This project leads to a path of understanding the necessary fundamental calculations that
need to be done during an engine design of a commercial airliner. These calculations are hand based
calculations that are done based on the parameters of the airframe data provided by the airline
manufacturers. These calculations are a little tedious and require a paper and a pen to carry out the
procedures. This project will enable the following outcomes for the students: providing a fundamental
understanding of the aircraft engine design, more from the grounds up approach and an automated way
(program) of doing the above, enabling faster iterations and making it easy to achieve the required
parameters for designing an engine

Aerodynamic analysis and optimization of wind deflector in a Commercial load ...AM Publications
In the field of commercial goods transport, trucks have an important place. One of the main problems faced by truck manufacturers is the Air resistance associated with the highway running. Since trucks have a large frontal area and the presence of a trailer also leads to the truck experiencing significant resistance which has to be overcome. This can be reduced through the use of wind deflectors. A well-designed wind deflector can reduce wind resistance to a certain extent. Optimizing the angle of the wind deflector also causes reduced drag force acting on the vehicle, thereby reducing the fuel intake. Here the initial drag of 2050 N is reduced to 1688.453 N using a 1.75 m wind deflector at 45 degree angle resulting in the reduction of drag by 17.6%.

Stress and fatigue analysis of landing gear axle of a trainer aircrafteSAT Journals
Abstract The undercarriage or landing gear of an aircraft is the structure that supports an aircraft on the ground and allows it to taxi, takeoff and land. Among the various parts of landing gear, axle is the most critical component where the loads (landing and ground loads) act on the axle first, then transferred to the structure. In this study stress and fatigue analysis of the axle is performed to meet the strength and life requirements. The modeling of the axle is done using UniGraphics (UG) software. Stress analysis is carried out using MSC Patran (pre-processing and post-processing)/Nastran (solver) for different landing loads (spin up, spring back, maximum vertical and drift) and ground handling loads (braking, taxing and turning). Stress analysis was carried out by both classical and FEM approaches and by comparing the results it was obvious that they were in correlation with one another. Fatigue analysis was also carried out for the axle using landing spectrum and ground handling spectrum to estimate the fatigue life. By the iteration process, the requirement of 10000 landings was satisfied. Keywords: Static, Fatigue, Axle, Fatigue life, UniGraphics, MSC Patran, MSC Nastran

Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.
Water scarcity is the lack of fresh water resources to meet the standard water demand. There are two type of water scarcity. One is physical. The other is economic water scarcity.

21. FUSELAGE AND LANDING GEAR SELECTION
FUSELAGE
The primary purpose of the fuselage is to
house the payload. In transport airplanes the
payload includes the passengers, their luggage
and cargo.
The selected fuselage is narrow body type fuselage.
LANDING GEAR
The purpose of landing gear is to move the
aircraft on ground. After take-off the landing gear is
retracted, before landing it is extended and locked into
position.
The selected landing gear is tricycle landing gear.
23. CONCLUSION
Design is a fine blend of science, presence of mind and the application of each one of them at the
appropriate time. Design of anything needs experience and an optimistic progress towards the ideal system.
The scientific society always look for the best product design .This involves a strong fundamental in science
and mathematics and their skill full application which is a tough job endowed upon the designer. We had put
enough hard work to the best of our knowledge for this design project. A design never gets completed in a
flutter sense but it is one further step towards the ideal system. But during the design of this passenger
aircraft we learnt about aeronautics and its implications when applied to an aircraft. Thus a conceptual
design of a 150seater passenger aircraft has been successfully done. The Aircraft is a twin engine
configuration. It uses two CFM56-5A1 engines which fulfills the power requirement. The wing is NACA
664-221 airfoil.
