Acute MI management guidelines were updated with the following key changes:
- The diagnostic criteria for AMI were refined to emphasize the role of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin assays in early diagnosis.
- A 0h/1h algorithm using high-sensitivity troponin now allows for earlier rule-out and rule-in of NSTEMI.
- Invasive treatment recommendations were strengthened, noting angiography should be considered in all high-risk AMI patients, even in the absence of recurrent symptoms or positive stress tests.
- Antithrombotic treatment guidance was modified based on new evidence, with emphasis on individualizing therapy based on patient characteristics and bleeding risk assessment.
