This document discusses inequality in education, specifically for minority and low-income students. It notes that minority students are less likely to graduate, score lower on tests, and are less likely to attend and complete college. While community colleges aim to provide more access, their lower funding means students have fewer resources and are less likely to complete a degree. The document argues that flagship universities should provide more financial aid to low-income students and that all schools need to be adequately funded and staffed to help close the achievement gaps faced by disadvantaged students. It calls for institutional leaders and funders to make meaningful changes to create equal opportunities for students of all backgrounds.

Presentation by Robert Hassell - Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER).
ABSTRACT
Since 2012 all Australian States and territories, and the Federal government, have endorsed an approach to school improvement that was originally developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research in conjunction with the Queensland State Government. While there is an increasing trend towards autonomy of school leadership, all schools in Australia are expected to write a school improvement plan. Rather than focusing purely on desired outcomes, the approach is based on the view that the most effective strategy for improving student achievement in schools is to improve the quality of day-to-day teaching and learning. In this presentation I will outline the research and development underpinning the National School Improvement Tool (ACER, 2012) and its current use for school improvement review and planning that focuses on these important behaviours.

The document discusses the results of the STaR Chart data for Hurst Hills Elementary. The STaR Chart assesses technology integration in four key areas: teaching and learning, educator preparation and development, leadership/administration/support, and infrastructure. For each area, the document reviews focus areas and campus data, and asks what the data shows, trends noticed, and how improvement can occur for individuals, grade levels, and the campus overall. The conclusion states that the STaR Chart data guides technology decision-making, professional development, and measures progress towards Texas's long-range technology plan.
